Bible Bans in Florida Schools Forced DeSantis to Amend His OWN Book Ban Law

- Ron DeSantis signed a bill that amends his ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law to limit who’s able to challenge “inappropriate” books in Florida schools. His office admitted that the law was amended because one activist used DeSantis’ law to challenge the bible in dozens of school districts.

The main reason DeSantis didn't anticipate the ban would affect The Bible is cause he doesn't know what's in there.

You ain't wrong.
Sounds about right! A lot of people get stopped in their tracks when they are asked if a story about about sisters that get their father drunk then 'have their way with him' should be in schools; they say hell no; then look shocked when given the Bible reference.
Few xSTAINs do while screaming their heads off about it.
@Gancanna ah yes, the sisters raised in a town of sin that doesn't follow God's will, and the wording doesn't have anything sexual in nature or explicit. It simply states that it occurred. Like a historical document. Not sexually explicit and not teaching poor morals. Rather, showing the results of poor morals. The Bible doesn't have explicit sex in it. It is not a teen romance book.

I really agree with that. The Bible has some disgusting, disturbing, and some very violent stuff in it.
The Bible should be only taught to people of a certain age limit, no kid should be allowed to read it. For one example the story of Lot and his two daughters. There is a lot of stuff in the bible that should be seen as inappropriate for children. Just saying.
Exactly, we don't want young kids reading Bible stories about men ****ing their own daughters, or the Song of Solomon.

You could have watched like 2 minutes and figured out what is happening, but that’s not what happened. Funny how he's fine with children being exposed to explicit materials as long as they don't see anything gay.

I wonder what avenues there are for holding DeSantis responsible. Lawsuits? A federal agency?
The cognitive dissonance and lack of self awareness these people have is astounding.
The most outrageous aspect of all this is that objections were allowed from unverifiable identities and people that had no standing as they were neither parents nor local nor users of any service. This straightforward lack of transparency and governance, plus the “yank first, judge later” approach should have been stopped dead in a court. It was abused by groups with an agenda who manufactured objections (the number of objections coming from the same few sources also wasn’t picked up). The “objections” were also not judged by anyone who knew what classic literature looked like, nor was there any evidence of prior harm from books that had been published decades ago. It was all to empower bigotry and racism.
It's the fascist motto: freedom of speech for me but not for anyone else.
This is why we don't ban books.
A leap of logic indeed. It's okay to ban books you don't personally like but it's not okay to ban books that you are in favor of. It's stupidity and hypocrisy at it's finest.
I mean, this is straight up one the first thing that happens *every* time someone institutes an intentionally vague book ban. At this point, any politician not seeing this coming a mile away when they pass that kind of legislation is just demonstrating a complete lack of basic pattern recognition.
With the water break and shade ban for outside workers, DeSantis should lead by example and work outside in a heatwave for a day.

That reminds me of the Georgia governor blocking local governments from passing mask ordinances during the height of COVID. The Republican party claims to be in favor of localized government, but apparently not if those governments enact liberal or progressive policies.
Genesis 19:30-34: Lot was afraid to stay on in Zoar. So he took his two daughters and moved to a cave in the hill country. One day his elder daughter said to her sister, "Our father is old and there are no men anywhere for us to marry. Let's get our father drunk! Then we can sleep with him and have children." That night they got their father drunk, and the older daughter got in bed with him, but he was too drunk to know she was there.
The next day the older daughter said to her sister, "I slept with my father last night. We'll get him drunk again tonight, so you can go to bed with him, and we can each have a child."

Its like going to the gym and lifting weights improperly. you dont gain as much and you can even hurt yourself.
Its how so many people pull wierd sh** out of the bible. The book contradicting itself doesnt help.
Imagine a homeschool kid who is only allowed to read the bible for fun. this happens :/
We have to, "Think of the children." Like they do in Psalm 137.
Definitely. Like the following passage:
Ezekiel 23:20
She lusted after lovers with genitals as large as a donkey’s and emissions like those of a horse.
@@FrozEnbyWolf150 so true. Sick people probably shouldn’t be allowed to read the Bible because if they took it literally like some people do, it talks about bashing other peoples children into rocks. For real there is nothing right about that.
@@doggodoggo3000 in reality there is literally people who choose to pressure their children into believing everything they read in the Bible and some of those children become so indoctrinated to it that they act out those criminal acts thinking it is ok. The Bible does some good for some people but for some people they use it as dangerous propaganda. The nazis incorporated it into their propaganda machine.
now we see what they're willing to do to further their agenda. lesson learned.
Malicious compliance,..... Take the L Florida
We can file for a ban of the Bible every single month, then!
He has egg on his face.
Omg, I thought of this lawsuit day one and have been waiting all this time
I'm actually shocked DeSantis didn't just sign a bill stating 'I can ban any book I don't like'
