I was born and raised in Napa; 1982-2006. The actual city of Napa has changed a lot. They’ve been making it more touristy. I honestly haven’t been back since 2011 (my mom finally moved to MT in 2012, so no reason to go back). Yountville, St Helena, and Calistoga are the tourist destinations for the wineries, but Alexander Valley has some nice wineries. I’d take the drive along Silverado Trail to see all the vineyards. Petaluma is super cute too. And the vineyards and wineries have been expanding to the Sonoma and Mendocino coasts. Highly recommend seeing Mendocino. Cute town.
You go girl... to the online friend who worked thru cancer twice and has 8 kids!! Holy moly! "I am woman, hear me roar!" You are an inspiration. Lovely trip, Michel! Looks so beautiful. Unfortunately I'm on the east coast but makes me want to look up something similar!❤❤❤
Hubby and I loved our visit to Napa Valley! We stayed at Auberge du Soleil and had an exquisite dinner there! They also had an AMAZING hummingbird garden to still through. We couldn’t get a table at The French Laundry with even a three month advance, so we ate at Mustards Grill which was wonderful. We loved Calistoga and spent a night there at an incredible B&B. We also did a mud bath at a spa that overlooked a huge field of Lavender! If you go back, I recommend you take a glider plane ride which is a breathtaking hour of soundless soaring over the valleys!
Been to Napa a few times since a cousin lives in the area. I love going to the Oxbow Market. A unique winery we enjoy is the Castle Winery. If you go back, plan a tour of the Castle and tasting. It looked like such a fun time with your mom. Enjoy those moments!
I love you were in my neck of the woods! Would have loved to run into you!! Welcome to NorCal and I love you had a good time here! ❤ As always LOVE LOVE Momma Janse!
When you travel up the coast to Napa, definitely recommend Monterey, Carmel (boujie), and Point Lobos (hiking overlooking the ocean) as well as Santa Cruz (more Jordy’s vibe)
My husband and our best couple friends go to Yountville every year during Christmas and sometimes for our anniversaries and or birthdays! It was a 2.5 hour drive for us and we just love the area!
Those blue flowers were chicory. You can roast the roots on the stove top until browned. Grind them. Then make as a coffee. Love it with cream and vanilla.
Love seeing you more or less in my 'hood! Sacramento's airport is a MUST. My husband and I fly monthly and it's such a dream to have such a small and easily accessible airport so close. Perfect for all of our trips to Socal and Vegas.
Such a beautiful vlog! The scenery, the food, you and your mom... everything was beautiful! I hope you got the first dress you tried on with the cardigan because it looked amazing! Glad you guys had fun! ❤
Welcome to my corner of California.... have lived here (and surrounding areas) my entire life. Glad you enjoyed. Restoration Hardware in Yountville is an experience to be sure. There are some amazing places to eat... and N CA loves the gluton-free/farm to fork life.... come back you missed a lot! (and btw .... St HelEna.... you said it correctly!
What a fabulous video. You are at your best when travelling and show casing food. So wonderful for us who live on the other side of the world. I must do this trip!!
Sounds like you had tons of fun. The last two times you said St. Helena were correct. Saint Hell-Eeenah. So many spots to go back to. My personal favorites are Woodhouse chocolates, Dean and Deluca, Bottega and Solbar (inside Solage in Calistoga).
This made my heart so happy seeing you explore my home town of yountville ❤ you reminded me of how lucky I am to be from here (with all of your cute excitement and expressions)
I’ve been wanting to do the train in Napa! I’m not really a type that likes to drink a lot so I enjoyed seeing other things to do there instead of just wineries!
OMG what a fun experience and to share it with your mom much more special!! Glad you share this as that would be something I would love to do with my husband!!
You two remind me a ton of my mom and I. We also just went away for a bit together to get that bonding time. You both look like you had a really peaceful yet enjoyable time! Love seeing all your content as well! ❤
What a fun vlog! I live in Napa, born and raised. I worked on the Wine Train while in school and my twin brother worked at both The French Laundry and Bouchon for many years. It’s fun to see our home from a visitors perspective! Despite only spending a couple days here, you had pretty spot on suggestions at the end! I wish I would have seen you. How cool would it have been to randomly see you and Mama Janse walking down First St?!
Love this vlog with your momma! My mom is coming to visit in a few weeks and I’m treating her to a spa day, dinner at a fancy restaurant and painting pottery. This vlog really got me extra excited for her visit 🤍
It is so weird seeing Napa/ Sonoma/St Helena through your eyes. I have all of my dad’s family in Sonoma so I have gone there all my life. If you decide to go back to Sonoma I definitely recommend going earlier in the days for the shops like you mentioned. They also have a cute farmers market on Tuesday’s. I can’t speak too much about the food as I usually don’t eat out when I visit but I do have a favorite restaurant in Sonoma that I would definitely recommend; it is called Tasca Tasca and it is a Portuguese tapas restaurant. I would go every week if I could go, the passionfruit moose is divine and a must! I am not sure if they denote gluten free but if they do that would be a great place, I would recommend to make a reservation as it does get busy on the weekends. Gott’s is also a popular burger place that is in Napa and St Helena. In Napa it is next to the oxbow. Generally for the Napa and Sonoma Area it’s best to go earlier in the day as they are smaller towns and their downtown areas close early. Hope this helps :).
Saint Hell-ee-nah. You're in my back yard :) This entire area is really fun to do before you have kids. It's really lovely. However, near Sonoma is Train Town...great for kids! St. Helena has a world renowned cardiac center up in the mountains. It's such a unique area. Healdsburg in Sonoma County (west of where you are) is a fun (though expensive) town for shopping and dining. And someday you should road trip up the northern California coast and into the Oregon coast for some of the best little towns, scenery and gorgeous redwoods and beaches. A MUST do in life! Fly into Oakland next time...small airport, easy onto the freeway and very close to Napa area things. ;)
You and your mom with the matching dresses! Too funny :D I've been on a day trip to Napa/Sonoma for a wine tour. This video is making me want to plan a vacation to the area!
Michel, you said you didn’t know the difference between Champagne & sparkling wine! Champagne is a type of sparkling wine that is made from grapes from the Champagne region of France only. When most people say “champagne” they are really just thinking of sparkling wine in general, which can be made from any type of grape, including Napa grapes! My favorite sparkling wine & my recommendation to customers who want “champagne” without the obscene price tag is Prosecco , which is made from Italian grapes. (I like my sparkling wine to be “brut” or “extra brut,” meaning it’s dry and has little sugar. But you can find sweet sparkling wines too!) Cheers! 🥂
A friend of mine got engaged on the Napa wine train! As a NorCal girl myself I’ve always wanted to check it out and now that I know so much of the menu is gf I want to go even more!🤣💜
Lovely to see your Mum 🥰 what a wonderful Trip to make together 😊 the Train ride looked pretty Awesome 😜 You both looked Amazing in that strip Dress 🫶. Have a Good weekend 🥰
This was a great log, Michel ❤ Such a fun trip with your mom and you both look just beautiful 😍 Makes me really want to go to Napa - everyplace that you went to looked beautiful 🤩👏🏻 That Napa Wine Train 🚂 was my favorite 😍 looked so nice and fun with a great lunch 🥗 😋💕 That area looks so great to visit for a honeymoon or anniversary or any special occasion 🌸🌼 Thanks so much for bringing us along - this is one of my favorite vlogs that you have posted ❤❤❤
What a fun trip with your mom! The white veg in the raised bed might have been a Hakurei turnip? I have discovered them only last year. They are crispy and delicious like a radish without the heat.
Napa is beautiful. My late husband & I took a free trip compliments of Sutter Wines & we stayed in Napa area in a historic Victorian home & the landscaping was amazing to walk through. You made me want to revisit Napa again. We flew in from Austin TX to San Francisco. Thanks for sharing. I agree that St. Helena is an adorable little town.
Michel! It was truly a dream meeting you and your mom. You are so kind and genuine and I still can’t believe that you wore the friendship bracelet I made you 🥹 See you again soon 🫶🏼
Oh wow, I haven’t heard ‘Dicots’ since micro biology. It was a part of how flowering plants were once believed to be divided into. Dicots were those that had 3 embryonic leaves-i.e, when growing, you would see 2 baby leaves are seen with new growth; And monocots-the other division w/ ` embryonic leaf. The divisions have changed but they have those names still floating around. I don’t know whether I had a really good micro bio professor or if that was a stress response to biology in college- random information you’d hope to forget lol. You and your mom are so sweet together! You have similar tastes but that’s the plus side to getting older is that if you like similar things, or the same thing, you can both get it and you probably wont be ‘twinning’ if you’re in 2 states 😊
Mixing flowers and vegetables makes a lot of sense. Some flowers are naturally bug repellents and also flowers attract bees which pollinate the veggies. Just nature working hand in hand.
Your mom is so great. Love when your family is in the vlogs!!!
What a sweet getaway with Momma Janse! 💕. The train ride looked awesome!

Sactown girlie here! So glad you found Temple! They're a trusted fave in the Sacramento area!
The beginning of you saying you're in Sacramento. Ahhh!! My hometown :)
Your mom is the absolute cutest! Love watching you two together 🥰

Nice to see Mom. Y'all look like twins. So glad you were able to spend time with your momma. Thank you for sharing.
It is SOOO strange to see you in common areas near where I live! 😱😍 hope you and your mom had a great trip!!

Oooh!!! That sounds awesome😍
Grady’s Cold-Brew has chicory in it and it is my favorite!
I moved to Asheville, NC in Jan and I think you would love an Asheville trip! I know it’s a trek for you. Love your travel vlogs!
Downtown Napa has a lot of winery tasting and wine sale stores. You should go back for Bottlerock. It is held in May every year.
I really love travel vlogs and this one was extra special to have your mom with you! Love the relationship the two of you have!! ❤
Your mom is so beautiful! Was she/is she a model? A natural beauty inside and out!
Love seeing you more or less in my 'hood! Sacramento's airport is a MUST. My husband and I fly monthly and it's such a dream to have such a small and easily accessible airport so close. Perfect for all of our trips to Socal and Vegas.

As a gal whose lost my mom almost 11 yrs ago, this warmed my heart that you have this memory with your mom. ❤
I got married at the CIA in Downtown Napa, right next to the Oxbow Market. Fun to see the area through your eyes!

This was so beautiful. I lost my Mom in March after a 6 week diagnosis. I miss her so much.
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom 4 years ago & miss her terribly every day. Sending you lots of love & healing light. 🥰✨💫
@@LindaKayHolevas ❤
I think the bulby plant you saw in the garden is a Kohlrabi ☺️
Next time you are in town stop by these wineries:
-Castello di amorosa
-Sterling
-Domaine Carneros
-Chateau Montelena
Best vlogger ❤
Girl, you go consume all you want, and we will watch! But to answer your question, NO, you don't always consume!❤
You are a consumer, but you still inspire us....❤️
and help us pick items to enjoy a quality life with unique experiences 🤔
Being a contributor instead of just a consumer is definitely more enriching.
What a fun trip with your mom!
The white veg in the raised bed might have been a Hakurei turnip? I have discovered them only last year. They are crispy and delicious like a radish without the heat.
i know that vintage store in sonoma, one time I got a vintage german purse with real 24karat gold accents for only $20!
WOW!! Love that vintage luck🥰
Well that was fun! More trips please...

Aww, you had such a nice time, I bet it was hard to say goodbye. Between you, your mom and sister; you look like sisters. Mom genes🤩
You and your mom are extra twinning in this vlog. Some of the profile shots you look so similar. So cute!
The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree😂🤍
