Getting in early, I'm thankful for the opportunity to show so many of you this wonderful game. If you'd like to see more spooky games feel free to stop by!
Been binging GDQ for a few days now, saw this and your Silent hill 2 run from a few years ago, both were fantastic and extremely entertaining! Gave you a subscribe to see more of the spooky goodness :D
Your runs are sick, I'm getting back into doing runs after taking several years off and it's inspiring
It's always interesting but kinda sad to see these games that obviously started with a lot of heart and just didn't make it there...
dropping a garbage can on a terrifying monster before having a showdown with Baby Cookie for possession of a billiard ball is such a weird fuckin series of events
The finale is basically the one guy in Austin Powers who tries to stop the steamroller lol
Enjoyed this one with fun couch commentary and just truly soaking in the pleasure of this "gem"
So Ecdysis mentions that there's a bunch of stuff where the game "just won't let you" reach the last chapter unless you do a bunch of obtuse stuff that there's not much reason to do (or seem counter-intuitive to do, like getting Jessica killed).
... when they said this was intended to be a spiritual successor to Clock Tower, I don't think anyone was expecting it to be a successor to fucking Ghost Head.
I mean it kinda reminds me of the original clock tower where if you go check the shower one of the girls is dead, but if you don’t check it she doesn’t die so it seems kinda on brand. If she does then you can’t get the best ending.
@@theredeft5319 I feel like the difference between the original Clock Tower and Ghost Head is that... at least with the original, your character learns new things based on what happened around them and react differently.
22:45 Props to the audience in the back giving it the "Rocking around the Christmas tree" Home Alone dance.
What a strange, surreal game. Nice to see the legacy of B-horror movies staying alive in games, though. I'm glad I got to see this here, and major shout out for the stellar commentary.
This run was incredibly entertaining to watch!
"that's some street fighter 5 hair..."
savage
dont know either the runner or game, but that was very entertaining!
great runner good jokes and explains enouth of the story so you can follow and be entertained^^ great hair btw
This runner seems like a really nice dude.
I love this walk cycle, it's hilarious.
Loved watching this run and the commentary! May have to check out more from Ecdycis!
ahhh i'm so sad i didn't catch this live, i was so excited to see the nightcry run on stream but stuff came up- this game is janky but i just adore it in all its messiness, i was really excited when it was still in development lmfao but this was a great run in all :')
Ocean candy. AKA: Saltwater Taffy
Well, that's a very interesting interpretation of "an eye for an eye". Unexpectedly literal.
It's... like... a spooky heirloom glass eye thing that gives you power over the Scissorwalker, which is why putting it in lets Rooney make it stop advancing on her and go after Vigo instead. If you look carefully you can see his eyes are mismatched in color, so he has one too.
39:01 well, he did want to lose weight.
43:23 Garbage day!
When Monica walk/runs, why does she keep pointing her feet inwards? That motion cycle really throws me off.
I would expect -the main character's- a player character's motion cycle to be something you spend a lot if time on, so why? Or is it actually some sort of secret running technique for high-heels?
i've been putting off playing/watching an LP of nightcry for ages, hoping to get more back into clock tower first. this is the first i'm seeing of it. i'm really, really regretting it.
i cannot believe they tried to spin these as good graphics. my point and click agatha cristie mystery PC games from the mid 2000s look better.
The game was reacting to "we just passed $800,000" - 45:10
The only Nightcry this game had is from Kickstarter backers after the release.
how did this game get away with literally Ripping the Dante from the DMC reboot?!? still super funny to see this run love the commentary!
Good Question.
When this game came out, I watched a playthrough of it, and afterwards, I was disappointed as hell, to think this got crowdfunded and had next to none of what made the Clock Tower series somewhat interesting. The first two chapters of this game are relatively unnecessary, and barely move the plot forward, and honestly deserves to be in the Awful Block for being so abysmal.
All these phone calls! I was getting GTA vibes lol
I still can't believe they actually used Dante's model for the game....capcom take note XD
The only thing that I feel was left out with this play was a brief explanation of what other categories would be, as well as some basics of what changes. Many games have Any%/100% categories, but when the names aren't so clear (yes, I presume 2 Survivors means there are 2 survivors at the end), what other options are there? Is there a 100%-style ending with many more? Is there a reason this particular category is run (is it the fastest, for instance)?
2 survivors is Nightcry's good ending. The other endings are all bad ends which are caused by not doing certain key actions. As such, this basically is this game's version of 100%.
The only other category for this game that gets run is "a face floating on waves", which is the first "ending" you can get in the game, making it basically the Nightcry any% run. That ending is the one which Ecdysis mentions at 11:39 where people throw you off the boat if you didn't make a social media post. That's the category Ecdysis actually has the WR in (He's 2nd in 2 survivors).
Part of the issue with speedrunning bad games is that the community isn't large enough to support many speedrun categories.
3rd anniversary of this run
wow it's like the struggle within levels of bad
So umm.... Did anyone notice the mannequin's heads went missing after a while? I was getting Silent Hill 3 flashbacks.
that ending.... how!!??!!!!!?
Nightcry at the front
A-Train at the back
I clicked on this expecting horror block, but I think I ended up in awful block. I'm not complaining.
I didn't recognize it immediately. it took me all of a single minute to recognize it
Cool. Nice play guys
Lol, this was great.
am I supposed to not know what happened because I have no idea what happened in this game lol but I loved the speedrun lol
They took the only thing Leonard had going for him, hiis amazing physique!
So Scissor walker is essentially a rip-off of Scissorman from Clock Tower? Got it.
They make by same creator, dude
The game is made by the same person that made the clock tower games.
Not quite, Hifumi Kono directed the Original Clock Tower games, SNES and PS1, and years later in 2016 wanted to recreate the experience. The ownership of the IP ended up staying with Sunsoft and currently Capcom so Hifumi got much of the old team together along with several notorious Japanese game devs/artists and made Nightcry. Nightcry is a love note to the Clock Tower series and a direct spiritual successor, it's essentially a Clock Tower game all but in name.
@@Jose_Fino doesnt give them the right to rip off since the characters belong to the company not the person making it
speed runner's public speaking skills are strong
ok
what a weirdass game
Hi. There’s a bug regarding my flow chart. The two options read vigo’s diary and find family photo just don’t show up, no matter what. Is it the same in your case?
What fucked me up was he stuck his hand inside of the pop machine, and then got mangled...
Got damn! 4:05
I screamed. It was 2:45am.
Never thought I'd see an awful game like this being run at GDQ.
At least he enjoys it.
I really like the look of this game. Great graphics. Cheesy animations though. Kinda ruins the look. But this game has HUGE potential
i remember watching a lets play of that game back when it released wtf
