Yeah, it really helped *develop* the runner's personality. But I don't really like puns. I wish he would *shutter* up with them and *focus* on the run.
I enjoy maxylobes runs. I don't really follow anyone's on anything but I enjoy watching runs from games I beat from time to time and didn't expect him to do a fatal frame run. Very enjoyable wo watch.
Actually, the "based on a true story" b.s. on the game advertizement and box was tottaly a localization choice. The actual creators of the game stated they took inspiration from a few urban legends and ghost stories (duh!) but never made any claim the events of the game are based in "a true story".
this also is slightly untrue, Makoto Shibata has gone on record saying he has had paranormal experiences, and used the feelings he felt to guide the direction Fatal Frame 1 went in, and the localization team chose to exaggerate that tenfold
I always thought there was some deeper meaning behind it, but I think you're right on the money. Without knowing that, the puzzle seems to make even less sense when you fail it and the dolls move around. A great example of psychological horror games making you overthink something with a surprisingly simple solution. :)

@@sakurashounen Nah, it's possible. I finished the Ghost List 100% (on PS2, at least) a few years ago. It IS possible :) Compared to the OG Fatal Frame 4 on the Wii, at least. Glad that got fixed on PC, though.
I've played other Fatal Frames, but I just can't do this one. The way the movement stick swaps and you aim with the left one when the camera is out makes it unplayable for me.
I love the camera shifts to ghosts stalking you. It feels so creepy yet subtle, with no need for jumpscares.
Fatal frame is to this day the only game to ever actually make me feel uneasy. I love the atmosphere
It's so good to finally get an opportunity to watch the true story that Luigi's Mansion was based on.
AnEternalEnigma: "I've run only once"
Yeah and it was one of the best runs ever on GDQ
All these photography puns made the run even better lol

Man, Luigi's Mansion is a lot darker than I remember. It really snapped me out of my comfort zone.
We need more Fatal Frame series in GDQ events

@FRNTGNNR31Mz lol!
quite entertaining hosts! thx all
I just played this game for the first time this summer and it legitimately creeped me out. Great atmosphere but it was scary!
Dead+ should be a title for the ghost exorcist anime.
R.I.P Betty White. The Golden Girls backpack is now complete.
One of the best runs this AGDQ. Good vibes and awesome commentary! I loved every second of it :)
Thank you very much!
With Maxy and that couch even watching paint dry would be entertaining. The Manson jokes killed me!
How manny camera jokes are on this run?
Yes
so nice to see nubz at a gdq i adore his silent hill lore playthroughs
"Who is in front of the back?". The statue at the back is facing right, so the back right statue is in front of it.
Honestly, thanks for explaining. I know on my end I sort of just figured it out casually and never questioned it. It's nice to actually know

i played this game with good surround sound when it first came out and it freaked the hell out of me.
Finally Fatal Frame at GDQ

we forgot it's a horror game with all the laughter going on
This run really lifted my spirits!
He is on a roll, a camera roll!
I can watch anything maxy runs, favorite runner ez
Both this and NightCry are awesome runs. Love seeing survival horror games at the AGDQ.
Has anyone tried a 100% run of this? Must be maddening to catch some of the vanishing ghosts.
scxcr I e done it a few times it’s a nightmare because those ghosts pop in for a second you have to get a photo of and can be missed easily
I did. I'm almost sure some of the ghosts are uncatchable without some sort of glitch or cheating device.

Fatal Frame is the only horror game that i couldn't play till the end, so scary..
that iso one took me a second but god damn
GOD DAMN
G O D D A M N
Nice run and great commentary!
Finally beat the game today after it sitting on my shelves for years. It was really enjoyable except Night 3 which got too hectic for me lol.
> based on true story
8:27 This reaction xd
So what I'm hearing is that this game is secretly called Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Room?
that run sure was lightning fast. good run
New Dead + featuring flattering pictures
4:41 I almost crapped myself lol
New record 1:10:08 by Maxy himself!!
You know what's worse than ghost? Fatal frame rate.
My favourite block, gg team silent ❤❤
Spookemon Snap! Love this game!
6:58 would you say it's a *fatal frame*
I kinda liked the audiences in this run... they made a lot of ghost puns
Actually Luigi's Mansion was the true story, Fatal Frame is the anime adaptation
Maxy running a horror game? you don't see that every AGDQ....no DMC makes me sad
They did run DMC5!
Planet Nate DECosmic ran DMC5 though!
Lockdown brings me here. 🙂
Camera Obscura has nothing to do with capturing ghosts. Its basically just a very primitive pinhole camera. Not sure why he is using that term.
Funniest run for me
I've played other Fatal Frames, but I just can't do this one. The way the movement stick swaps and you aim with the left one when the camera is out makes it unplayable for me.
Ghost fight ? YU YU Hakusho?
Betty White comment aged poorly
I knew I remembered that the wall of arms that was in the NightCry speedrun was also in another game.... that isn't a Resident Evil.
There's also something similar in dark souls 3
