Higher crown Authority should increase your max holdings. Also, there are arguably 2 regions that are the best for playing tall, and one of them is... India! Southern India has some regions with insane devellopment and a fairly large domain and huge counties, generally a great start. The other is (imo) Cornwall, having a two county culture means you can beef up your devellopment to insane amounts. Currently, due to plagues the top 3 develloped counties in my game are: Genoa 34, Cornwall 56, Devon 64. For reference, Rome is at 28. Everyone is sending levies and spearmen whilst I'm slaying with my armored horsemen, crossbowmen, hobbelars and bombards.

One thing that really bothers me with CKIII:
In CK II Paradox acknowledged how braindead their AI is and made you tell them what to do (siege certain counties ect) which made the wars somewhat manageable. They totally forgot about that system in CKIII. Now you have to hope your allies are only 50 % braindead instead of 100 %.

For a note on the Mongols - they're only a threat if you're in the steppes. They will try and dismantle whatever empire you hold. However, they only start at like 20% strength - stop them from gaining any land and they are instantly no longer a threat. They do terribly in mountainous terrain, so Tibet's Mountaineers tend to keep them out of going south. Central Asia is a 50/50 on if they go down there.

You mentioned in this video you hadn't done an Indian playthrough and want to change that. I often enjoy playing areas such as India, Africa, Middle east etc and I can definitely recommend Sri Lanka in 867 as an enjoyable first run. It's set up so you can play tall really easily, but also gives you plenty of options to play invade and conquer from your island of doom! Not to mention, with three concubine slots and changing succession to equal, there's loads of opportunities for family drama once you die and pass things to your heir! Case in point, I changed my succession to women preferred and had like 5 sisters. 3 of them wanted to kill me, one nearly succeeded! Had a lot of fun with faction uprisings lead by said sisters also!

I played as an Empress of Scandanavia for 86 years the other day. When she got married at 16 he husband gave her lovers pox. She then passed the pox on to SO MANY people as she outlived 9 husbands/concubines. The best part, she had the paranoid trait so she would lay with her new, young emperor, infect them then ban them from ever entering her bed in disgust or else suffer massive stress debuffs.

Well black death has a 50-30-5% survival rate for skin, lung and systemic versions of the infection.
After that you would have an immunity, yes for around 25 years or more if you are lucky. But massive nr of infections= high nr of bacteria= more mutations= less resistance
I think they should have research for plague mitigation, like observing rat death, insect repellent with mugwort, this kinda stuff

I would have been okay with it if they had just removed the pointless micro. Obviously, I want to close my court when the Reaper is rapidly killing everyone in the county next to my capital, and obviously, I want to open my court again once the disease leaves my capital. That alone would have been enough to fix most of the problems with ck2 diseases. The other other problem I had with it was the event spam. Rather than fixing that, they made it worse and spam you with even more events related to diseases than ck2 did.

My favorite thing to do with a vassal that forced their way onto my council is to just grant them to another vassal of a higher rank. Usually I have a lot of counts and I’m just like “duke whatever, please take this troublesome count steward with 2 in stewardship off my hands please.”
Or, you know, plot to murder them.
Either way, this inly happens to me when the game gives out a hook without my choice. I will do almost anything to avoid a vassal getting a favor hook.

Oh on the plagues. I like them. A lot. The problem is bluntly that they're to repetetive and not deadly enough. In effect they've mostly explicitly been annoying (so many clicks and so much popup spam about irrelevant plagues) without much impact (beyond the rare accident from them, you just click to seclude yourself and ignore them). I like them being scary and impactful, but they just annoying and the impact is navigating more menus. The bones are there, I just was just disappointed. In CK2, a plague showing up was scarier (until later in the game where you just had a wall of hospitals).

12:37 Had a conqueror King who died in the middle of a holy war and failed to notice i had two kingdom titles.
Two King sons divide my empire by half, i change plans for my son that was supposed to finish the conquest and his new objective is reunification of the land.
Brother has a 50 years old wife that probably wont have any more sons and they only have one daughter.
Murder his daughter successfully and no one discovers about it, from now on i just needed to outlive my brother, focus on learning for the health boosts and to speed up the fascination progress acgieving a golden age for the Kingdom discovering 5 fascinations in a few decades until brother finally died and thw Kingdoms ate unified again.
Focus on fixing the succession so it does not happen again, stop any new conquers when king is 78 years old so ge doesn't in the middle of a war outting the heir in a pickle.
At 82 King has a son with his 29 years old third wife fucking the entire succession up.
At 86 King takes a Dunmer lover (EK2 Mod btw), at 88 Third wife dies and King marries a 140 years old human witch failing to realizing the old hag is still fertille, another son when King is 91 years old.
Primary heir that was very carefully imprinted died long ago, granddaughter is a old woman disfigured from a battle and has health issues since several decades before and i didn't imprinted her, great granddaughter is plan B being trained by a very old and wise king.
Granddaughter dies, king is 104 years old, no new conquests in decades already, great granddaughter already has a son in his early teens, King goes for a little bordergore fixing war (the first in decades). Vassals declare a lower authority rebellion in the same year.
King is 112 uears old when he receives the notification he is one years away from dying and war is still raging, king ties it up quickly defeating the rebellion with only a few weeks to his death.
Dies and all he is known for on his death message was that someone discovered he was the one who murdered his brother's daughter several decades ago.
Yeah... i fucking love/hate this game.
btw, succession all fucked up still because of the two unexpected sons, great granddaughter goes on a ranpage to fix it instead of taking the peaceful way like her predecessor.

dunno what happened, my last 2 playthroughs I get murdurdeded every time. I don't even play any differently and I'm not being a dick usually. other than losing a bit of legitimacy and getting tyranny for extorting, but I even limited that. I don't even want to play without saves. managed to play a long life with Jarl Dyre. My next heir had to be a rando trough elections. Grandsons werent eligible for some reason. I had a purple intrigue book around 15 years left on the repair. I didn't plan to repair it, playing steward or maybe learning. Got 6 people killed and that book saved me from 1-1 plots, bugged out and stood in my court on 0 endurance. that was within 6 years. A king steward got a stress level, had an option to kill the son (who was disfigured 1 year old) or something crazy, like burning down stuff? ended up with reclusive and kicking out my courtiers. which was around 106 people including 20ish badass knights with buffs, 3-4 accolades with trait xp specific dependent buff and culture specific limitation, family business pillar so it was even buffed toward bonuses, but everyone was good/excellent.
Got hit with a plague right in the capital while raiding, or taking sick prisoners while raiding, knights getting sick from plagues breaking out in areas where I raid. Getting into -800 just to sell all my bad artifacts, just to be hit with 400-500 cost options, legendary and famous greek lady producing a 15% book using a 20% one (to be fair, she made a -10% temple and temple holding construction book with 20% learning before that) and a 8 plague resistance book from physician.
When you get tired of marry every courtier and manage every detail, and just set a goal to occupy an empire, and then plague hits you over and over and over, then swap capital, get hit with another plague again, then again. I even swapped capital from plague event 2nd time just to be hit with another plague. Is totally related to raiding I suppose. Doesn't let you gain gold. Repetitions are also scary, had the same courtiers killing people during hunts and cucking their husbands 2nd time. I did a hunt to break out the loop of getting murdered, first the lover of my mother tried killing me then another guest I did not invite to the hunt, then the first guy tried saving me? killed em both. ended up with a 3 diplomacy 66 prowess guy with like 8 learning xD 4 star martial. swapped capital just for a cheap university visit. got literally nothing for it. before reload, with another caracter, he learned norse, my religion was the same and heritage too, next time I even learned the language of the place to get a better reward (wards and wardens). I'm really not enjoying whatever happening. Maybe I need to drop the friends and foes dlc, not sure if that is what makes so many plots.

See, when I get a sucky powerful vassal, I Befriend them - they can't rebel if they're friends with you even if they aren't on the council. You do gain stress if they die, but small loss
Edit: I usually name my custom religions "Sensiblism" because the goal is to be sensible. Except in my current one - I'm naming it "Milf-Dilf Hunters" because I'm currently doing a MILF/DILF run, where my guy and his kids can only marry people who already have kids - and no murdering people for their spouse. For this reason, I've got a lot of young people with elderly spouses book marked so I can periodically check to see if they're single yet so I can marry them off to my kids...also if you're thinking this makes it hard to have heirs, my guy has 12 kids (two of which died sadly.) First he married Audr the Deep Minded (6 kids,) then Haesteinn's widow (4 kids,) then a random Irish lady (2 dead kids,) and most recently Basque woman with great stats (no kids yet, but he's seducing her)
Edit 2: In regards to the relationships of CK3 children, my MILF guy's kids and step kids are having some. Two of my (Norse Buddhist king of Scotland) guy's kids, one of his stepkids, and this random Akan Buddhist 12 year old who just...showed up one day and lives here now I guess? Are all crushing on this one Welsh 14 year old who doesn't like any of them back, has no friends, and is rivals with a couple of their siblings. My current plan is to marry him to the Akan girl, wait until they have a kid, land him, then marry everyone else who likes him to him. Meanwhile, two of my guys other kids and one of his stepsons all have crushes on this one Scottish 10 year old witg long flowing hair, who is crushing on all three of them. Planning on finding him a high stat girl to marry (his harem is all boys) then marry the rest off to him once he's got a kid. My guy's got 12 kids, so it's fine if a few are in same-sex marriages instead of having children, as long as they stick to the family policy of only marrying MILFs or DILFs

CK2's implementation of the Roman Empire is so incredibly jank. The devs basically years later as an afterthought just forced a system of government that doesn't mesh well with the mechanics onto the game in an attempt to be more historically authentic to appease their armchair historian customers, but only went half way, despite the fact Republic mechanics at the time were already in the game and the amount of effort it would of taken to adapt them for Byzantium would of been minimal. So, instead we got a stupid system where everyone is county landed, but duchies' are treated as governorships. So the Emperor gets back each duchy upon the deaths of the holder then re-issues. Also, when an Emperor dies, whoever is now elected inherits Constantinople. All of this combined with how the AI operates results in CONSTANT civil war when the player isn't involved. Because A) When the emperor AI inherits duchies, they don't re-issue, causing vassals to get pissed off, double so with too many duchies debuff. Then B), if any other family BUT the starting family is elected, the new Emperor will automatically take the Constantinople title, then the previous family will immediately form a claimant faction for either Constantinople or the Emperor title and declare with with the backing of their allies. So the Byzantines ever since a couple of years before CK3 released, with the Byzantine Empire succession and government type are now in constant civil war when not controlled by the player. All of which could be avoided if only Paradox did the following: Tied families to estates on polities as opposed to being tied to counties permanently. Made county holders elected by duchy holders and they too lost the post on death (this doesn't stop generational re-elections from the same families, which is exactly what happened historically). Then finally, make it so previous family holders of titles lost their claim to that title once their parents died, so family members of ex-Emperors can't contest, they must fabricate. It's not hard, Paradox just couldn't be bothered.
Looks like in CK3 things will be different, this time around they look like they're willing to be bothered now.

To be fair, a strange asynchronous election process followed by frequent civil war is pretty historically accurate...

I also resemble the fan who self inserts O.P. characters lol. But my logic is, the game doesnt have "Great People" with unique quests if they hold certain Court Positions. Which I think is lame. So I always pitch an R.P. character to content creators who is something like: a Great Merchant, Prophet, General, etc. So yeah just like me a Giant-Herculean-Genius haha 🤙🏿🍻
