the thing about shopping in the 70's is nearly everything was still made from scratch. Grocery stores were small because most of the products we have today did not exist. I remember grocery shopping with. my mom and we would shop at the grocery store, but still went to a deli for lunchmeat, and then to a bakery for cookies and cakes, to a florist for flowers, to Hallmark for greeting cards. To a drug store for shampoo and stuff like that. We even went to a dairy for our milk and yes the stores had milk but my mom still bought it at the dairy.

I’m a Pepper, You’re a Pepper, Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper to (Dr. Pepper jingle). We would be singing this jingle, and dancing, as we walked to our next class in High School. The Coke commercial, with “I’d like to buy the world a Coke ….” was another jingle we would sing. I LOVED being a teen in the 70’s.

Toys in cereal boxes were genius!
When I was a kid,(a long time ago) Kroger had the first curbside pickup….. every cart had a number on it. You bought your items, pulled in front of the store, gave them the number and voila, someone loaded your groceries.
That was over 40 years ago.
    I wish still available today

Wow! Flashback! Yes, had all of these cereals and remember them well. Cereal was such a staple for us kids. It was something you could do yourself too. We still ate oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits too. Hot cereals still prevalent for a time. I remember having Poptarts more as an older kid, the 1980’s. All the drinks. “Juice” and Kool-Aid and sweet tea and lemonade. We never drank water. We didn’t have a microwave until the 80’s and used it primarily for warming leftovers and ever since then too. They aren’t particularly useful. I do like the occasional frozen meal these days. We usually had home cooked foods from scratch growing up and that’s how I raised my family as well. The jello thing… it’s still pretty popular in the Southern United States. We serve a lot of cold salads and meals during the heat of the summer. Thanks for posting!

I remember after helping put groceries away mom would get out the S&H Green Stamp Book and she'd say hold out your tongue for her to put the new stamps we'd just got from buying groceries into the savings book. Then we loved looking through the "Idea Book." We'd save them up and go to the Green Stamp store when we had enough. Once we got a swing set.

I was born in the 60s so I watched all those commercials. The kool-aid pitcher that crashed thru the wall. Occasionally Mom would let me get a sweet cereal loved the Count Chocola and they came out with Boo Berry LOL. My favorite cereal was Post Fortified Oat Flakes. Would go around the house singing the jingles 😂. I'm a pepper, you're a pepper, and we're a pepper too. I can't believe I eat the whole thing which I think was Alka Selzer. Of course the Oscar Meyer song. Also loved the fashion it was kind of an update on the 40s Menswear look or that was what I was drawn too with the platform shoes, which my Mom didn't want me to wear, bad for your feet. 😢 but it was a great decade to be a kid. Just after the moon walk. I now know about Vietnam and I'm married to a Veteran of that war, but I didn't know it was happening. Parents didn't watch the news when I was present. Grew up in the Chicago area we had Captian Kangaroo who is Frank Zapp's Dad, Ray Raner with his duck and cartoons, Bozo the clown. There was also a Bee show and at the end she'd hold a mirror without the mirror in it and say she saw Billy, Mary, etc. I'd wait to see if she said my name only heard it once but was so excited. Sorry for the long comment.

Toucan Sam: “Follow your nose. - It always knows!” (“Froot Loops” animated ads).
This slogan made little sense since this product wasn’t extraordinarily pungent (they smelled like most processed cereals @ that time). Damn!, though, was THAT a catchy phrase (I STILL say it on varied occasions)!
Another note; “Tab” diet cola is featured in the late 80s film, “Scrooged”. It’s all we diabetics had (for colas) & it was gro-oss !
