My son planted 3 lbs of garlic one year in our lasagna bed. Every single clove he planted bulbed and several of them twinned on us. We gave away tons of garlic and had garlic for a year. Wowza!
I've always loved Muesic garlic, it is my absolute favorite here in Vermont! Wow, 5 lbs of garlic, that's a ton....I usually pick out the best garlic from the last year, and it has acclimated to our soil over the years.🌻
@@1870s one of our local homesteading friends gave us some to tryout a few years and we just keep replanting the bigger cloves and eat or give away the smaller ones. I don't know the type but I do know it is a hardneck variety.

I'm excited about growing GARLIC for the first time! I planted in September and we have at least one sprout. Lol. Zone 8a/8b Georgia. Happy fall gardening🍂🍁🍠🌽🍅🍆❤ I'm looking forward to seeing how well your GARLIC varieties produce.
I’m in hot Texas, but am going to try garlic for the first time this year. I’m going to plant in November late and hopefully will have a harvest next year! 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Awesome! I just bought my garlic this morning. I remember last year all the good seed garlic was sold out and I had to resort to using supermarket garlic. I didn't really get a good yield or good bulbs. What I grew was yummy though. So now, I'm happy to be able to buy some heirloom garlic and some perennial shallots. My Ruth Stout garden was awesome this year! Everything I put in those beds grew beautifully. I expect for my garden to do even better next season. :)

I need to get my garlic planted very soon. It’s getting mighty cool up here in NH. I’m putting all mine in containers so it won’t be too hard. Moving this weekend but hope to have a few minutes of time 🤞🏼.
I've been trying to grow garlic for a long time but it dies. This year I'm doing it differently. I live in the Caribbeans. This year I will plant then in January but in the meantime it's in the frig so it be ready. Great video.
Good Garlic Information. Sandals aren't good to use garden tools with and I prefer to use Gloves when putting down Homemade Animal Poop Compost. But only my opinions.
I put 200 bulbs out last fall and every darn one of them took root and came up. I give a lot away because that's obviously more than my wife wants or can use. Do you use the scape for cooking? I know some people do.
Hey, Rachel, you look really nice in this outfit, love the sweater on you! I really wanted to do garlic this year, but I don’t know if I’ll get to it, I’m so swamped with canning/drying still. I just picked probably the last of the tomatoes, peppers and tomatillos today. It’s supposed to get down to 21* tonight, brrr! I’ve had them covered for at least a week. What to do with a whole box of tomatillos?
I've only make salsa with them, but last year I had so many and found out you can basically use them as a substitute for rhubarb in alot of recipes. I'll see if I can find an example for you.

Sweet potatoes mature in 90 to 170 days and they're extremely frost sensitive. So make sure you plant early enough, so they don't get nipped by the cold.
Rachael, I'm disabled, my husband built me raised beds, 3 1/2 ft tall. Could I plant garlic in them? I know I can get enough mulch on top just worried about all the air flow under the bed.

Plant only the biggest bulbs , for bigger garlic. Eat the smaller ones. I learned that lesson the hard way.

It depends on your zone. I'm in zone 4 and my sister in law tried it in raised bed and they all froze. Good luck.
