- The french version of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables with french and english lyrics. This is my first attempt in making a french-lyrics video and my french isn't very good so I hope I got the lyrics right!!! Comment on what other song you would like me to do preferably something from Les Mis,The phantom of the opera, Notre Dame de Paris or Dracula: Entre l' amour et la mort! ENJOY!
After I became a father this song touched me more deeply than than ever before. It expresses emotionally what every parent feels toward their child, and this instance, my son, especially as he began to leave home. It is still my prayer for him. How could it not?
Thank you so much for posting this. So beautiful. One small mistake I noticed:
Les étés meurent... (the summers die), not les êtres meurent. I believe this is also consistent with the English lyrics.
I came here, cuz im learning french. and I got way more than what i was looking for, this is beautiful, i love this song in english. But even if I have to read the english on this version you can still feel the emotion, though I have a language barrier music can close that gap.
This is the same interpretation of Robert Marien a Québec singer. Please do not steal from others when it is clearly not you singing... WHAT A SHAME! ua-cam.com/video/cyX3yJPbszs/v-deo.html
Even though I don't know French I've always liked the French version most. Now I know even the lyrics are so much deeper. Thank you for this.
Of course all the Les Miserables would be nice, but 'On my own' would be at the top of my list, also 'Think of Me' from The Phantom of the Opera.
C'mon home.
Thanks for posting. Quick correction: "Que je meure et qu'il vive" translates to "Let me die and let him live." rather than "That I die and he lives."
Essentially the same sentiment (Would that I die, would that he live)
Tellement beau! Très belle interprétation!
Je l'aime! très beau!
Magnifique !
Easily one of the best prayers put to music.
"il est le fils que j'aurai eu
Si tu m'avais *DONNÉ* un fils"
Pas "DONNER". Merci
Robert Marien is awesome.

I think u nailed it.

Bring Him Home tells the story, but it gives no feelings. This version does.

un certain Robert Marien....très talentueux par ailleurs

y a-t-il une raison que en ces chansons ils prononcent parfois les 'e' a la fin d'un mot? C'est la prononciation ancienne ou c'est pour faire les rhymes?
It's done for rhythm, rhyme, meter, etc. Same goes for poetry!
Mulan.
Why is this so quiet? I had to turn my phone AND stereo volume all the way up just to even hear the quietest parts. Most songs I will have the volume at like 30%...
He is singing in a head voice all versions I have heard the singer always sings this last note incredibly softly very difficult technically to pull off. Remember, this song is a prayer

This is the kind of musical number which, IMO, would be much more impactful if Valjean (the actor portraying him, I mean) shed an actual tear or two towards the end for Marius' sake.
@@AdderTude as much as that would help to convey the emotions of the tune, realistically it would never happen during a performance, given that crying while singing can make it much harder to control your voice, which is essential for this tune.
You should check out a video from a guy called Sideways, he goes into more depth about this when looking at the mistakes made in the film version.
