Watch Vinny Raniolo perform a rendition of 'Come Fly With Me' on this beautiful D'Angelico Excel from 1949.
Guitar Featured:
1949 Excel - John began working on a single cutaway design in the late 40's and it quickly became the standard for archtops going forward. What's unique about this model is its bird's eye maple back and sides as opposed to the more common pearl maple. The Excel also features a model 1 11/16" nut width and slim C-shape neck, similar to D'Angelico models today.

Mr. Raniolo is a national treasure! Such inspired playing.
Thank You, D'Angelico for carry the torch of these pieces of history.
Magnificent guitarist, magnificent guitar!
I could listen all day, the clarity is something to just take in
I always enjoy hearing Vinny play solo, something he doesn’t do often.
Vinny is an amazing player!
Vinnie, you're the best. Hope to hear you live one day.
That is a holy grail guitar if there ever was one.
Vinny has serious chops 👌🎶
Terrific playing, amazing guitar. That superb clarity is the hallmark of the D’Angelico tone, but still full and warm. The Gibsons I have tried get more clarity less warmth or too dark less clarity. This has it all🎉
Fine rendition! Sweet tone!
Beautiful instrument and playing.
The right player on the right guitar playing the right tune !
finally they got a guitar player!! vi nny really plays great....wonderful chords bravo!!
OMG! I was just Googling D'Angelico guitars and YOU showed up here! Too funny, Vinny! You sound great too!

Great job Vinny!!
What a great tone , just shows D’Angelico Guitars sound just good as that other fellow Italian American old Blue eyes himself Mr.Sinatra!!
thanks you always impress me with your pikn (picking)..
The very talented Vinny Raniolo.. Listen to his album “Air Guitar” for more of this style of playing. Just him and bass. A masterclass in chord soloing.
Ok so that’s not funny at all. Either I am going to lock myself inside my house for the next ten years and do nothing else but practice, orrrrr I am simply going to smash myself in the head with my guitar. That was simply the most beautiful rendition I think I have ever heard. Bravo. And hats off once again to my favorite guitar company. Simply incredible craftsmanship. Ok I have to go flip a coin now to decide my fate.
The vintage real thing is incredible and what is being made now at a price point people can afford can’t even compare to this. But I have a recent EXL-1 with Gibson pickups and it’s very respectable for the investment.
Now that's what I call guitar playing! Don't show it to shredders)
Awesome
Neat!
Mel Bays favorite axe!
He plays the guitar well, too.
Great clarity, but a bit bright and thin.
I wonder what type of strings are on that guitar?
The low tones should be booming a bit more timber.
Do you have any plans to release some new finishes or a pure acoustic model for the EXL-1 range, even if it's only a limited run?
What kind of strings are used here? They look like some kind of flat wind, but look yellowish, like bronze.
