hi Mr. Edwards ,your brother was /is a BEAST of a bass player! wow ....as a bass player for a few decades now and a musician out of the womb , Im almost embarrassed to say it but , I am just finding out about him (the man Bernard Edwards) recently, or i should say, im paying more attention to the" who is who " now.. i sometimes play a 70's disco gig and have played a few of the hits . i just never payed much attention to the bassists that were playing these amazing grooves... his playing has truly inspired me to dig in and get playing again . 🙏
Thank you for honoring Bernard Edwards. He was the reason I got into bass. I mainly play guitar and used to think bass was boring. Bernard showed me I was wrong. RIP.
Edwards is on my top list for sure. How he can somehow fit all those notes in busy melodic lines and still have groove and space... With perfect timing. So good.
That take of Everybody Dance is enough - you're clearly a huge Bernard fan to pull that off, it's such an unusual technique and you've taken the time to learn it. Huge respect. 🙌
They're all amazing. Bernard was king of the slick basslines. The Good Times bassline was the blueprint for both Rappers Delight and Another One Bites the Dust. Still Thinking of You and Le Freak are my two favorites.
Man, you got Bernard Edwards down packed. I miss his work on the bass. I started listening to him in 1977. Thank you for recognizing a fantastic bass player!
He is the one and the only reason I am a bassist today, even as a young boy I was mesmerised with his sound before I even laid hands on a bass,it was meant to be.For me he still reigns supreme.
Dude I love the fact that not only can you emulate so many different styles and sounds but you really get into the groove of whatever you playing and obviously really, really enjoy it👍👍👍👍
When i look at you play it gives me hope !!! My position is similar, my fingers range as well, and seing you nail the Bernard's lines... man i feel hope
That's awesome. I've been working on Good Times for a week or so, I'm coming back to the bass after 20 years of not playing and learning to play finger style for the first time, so it's not easy. I really appreciate your camera work, showing really clear shots of either hand and the technique you're using for each part. Thanks! ❤
Excellent on many levels. Superb video for players and punters alike, lovely looking and sound mix spot on. What a great tribute to musical Greatness! ❤
Definitely the best attempt at recreating Bernard Edwards' bass technique on "Everybody Dance". Most, if not all, don't come close to capturing it, but your version is damn good !
I'm a 50 Something New Yorker and this video brought me back to my youth. Mr. Edwards was one of the icons who inspired me to play the bass when I was a teenager. Your Technique is on point! Great Channel by the way
Excellent playing Danny! Much Respect to Bernard's playing, and to the Music Man bass too! Great tracks as well. Loved it..... Bob Fazio, LA Bass Player
Great list. Here's some other killer base lines from Bernard Edwards in my opinion: solo on Diana Ross's "Upside Down", Sister Sledge's "I Got to Love Somebody Today", and of course Bernard's solo on Chic's "Rebels are We". I wish I could play like you to jump into these as well.
Bernard was actually the very reason I started playing the bass In 1976 or so. I heard chic so many times I know every small detail of his basswork. I was blessed with very good hearing, and I have never heard anyone who had all the little details in rythym and notes down to "micro-level". But you. my friend, you do. Exellent! Especially the chucking is impressive. Fun fact is that I sent a letter to the CHIC organization asking Bernard what his gear was, I had an F-bass and didn't get that sound. I don't think he got it though. I never got a reply. But years later I discovered he played a stingray and I thought "why didn't I know this sooner". It was a sound I loved and still do. BUT..wait for it... Then I heard from other reliable sources he didn't used a Stingray on the first hits like everybody dance, and Dance, dance, dance. Possible I think on the two first albums or at least the first, he used a BC Rich Eagle. But this video....Kudos my friend!
I'm just seeing this in 2024. I enjoy all of your videos, Danny Sapko, but this one makes me have to teach you some Americanese because this is the shit is our highest compliment. Now call me a dipstick and tell me to bugger off, but keep playing that BEHS.
Very very nice. I am the younger brother of Bernard and he would have been proud to hear you recreate his bass lines. Thank you for the tribute

Absolutely unreal. Love and miss Bernard. Massively under rated. Spot on tribute 😊
I agree with you 100%! Bernard was a beast, a legend !
I wouldn't say he was underrated
Legend
Underrated? WTAF? He's rated as one of the greatest.
Underrated?
Just fuck off back to your hole in the ground
Come back up when bellends are considered fauna.
Thank you for honoring Bernard Edwards. He was the reason I got into bass. I mainly play guitar and used to think bass was boring. Bernard showed me I was wrong. RIP.
When I heard Le Freak, that did it for me The bass guitar was the coolest instrument!!!!!! ❤
Nice work. I play bass for Kathy Sledge and Sister Sledge. I approve of this video
@@virtualunreality8326 haha thanks. No I don’t have a stingray
@@Mes799what does this comment mean?
Love it. Can’t beat quality disco music and bass lines.

You are the first one who really can play like the best bass player ever in history, Bernard Edwards. His bass lines were the best❤
That take of Everybody Dance is enough - you're clearly a huge Bernard fan to pull that off, it's such an unusual technique and you've taken the time to learn it. Huge respect. 🙌
he might be my favorite bass melodist of all time, love his groove and melodies
You nailed it. Best impression of Chic yet. That includes the backing music as well.
This video will never get old. I often wonder what Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" would have sounded like with Bernard on bass.
Danny! Giving inspiration to a 77 year old bassist still learning something new everyday. Thank you.
They're all amazing. Bernard was king of the slick basslines. The Good Times bassline was the blueprint for both Rappers Delight and Another One Bites the Dust. Still Thinking of You and Le Freak are my two favorites.
I was listening to slide by Calvin Harris and Frank Ocean the other day. You can add that to the list.
Bernard himself would be impressed, flattered and give it a thumbs up...GREAT JOB and totally flawless. This to me is how homage is paid!
Man, you got Bernard Edwards down packed. I miss his work on the bass. I started listening to him in 1977.
Thank you for recognizing a fantastic bass player!

Spot on in every way. Such an instantly recognised bassist.
Wonderful! I DO HOPE that new DISCO-FUNK artists will born...we DO NEED this Music!
Somebody doing Bernard proud at long last! My hat off to you good sir and keep up the great work.
Superbly executed sir. A fantastic tribute to one of the twentieth century's finest bass players. Thanks for your work.
A master class is soul bass…. Even the simpler bits are so recognisable and brilliant……..
Well done! Both the playing and honoring the underrated master Bernhard Edwards!❤
When i look at you play it gives me hope !!! My position is similar, my fingers range as well, and seing you nail the Bernard's lines... man i feel hope

I didn't know how much I missed the late 70's until I watched this. Thanks, Danny. 🥲
When I was a suburban white boy back in the day I was saying 'disco sucks... Rock & Roll!' Well, I didn't know shiit and Disco Lives!!!
Those are amazing chords. Half the time he's not playing the root. So creative.
You've got my vote ! The best Chic bass covers on UA-cam by far .
Thank you, Danny! 50+ GenXer here, and Bernard's basslines were part of the soundtrack of my preteen/teen years 🥲❤
I miss The Great Bernard as well .😢
Job well done sir.
Excellent tone.... That exciting bass tone. That made this song. And all the other.... Great.
Excellent playing Danny! Much Respect to Bernard's playing, and to the Music Man bass too! Great tracks as well. Loved it..... Bob Fazio, LA Bass Player

I totally love the bassline of "Thinking of you" and you performed it very well!
Wow! You‘ve got that magic touch.
Been bustin my ass trying to get the same feel and technique on these Bernard bass lines! Guy was so slick with it!
Little brother loves da funk
I could vomit at how hard this grooves. It wouldn't stop me moving, either. I'd still be smiling. Best funk lines I can imagine.
