      You're good! She goes by Talea or Tilly. You spelled both right! So cool you live in Dorset. I'd love to visit sometime. My oldest has been to England on a study abroad last fall and loved it. She showed me such pretty pictures. Picturesque rock walls, shady walking trails, the ocean. I wish I could go!

    Loved this day in the life! That was a really cool camp they went to. Tilly learned so much! All the children are so bright and creative. You accomplished so much in one day. Blueberry patch and the farm look amazing. Well done! Val C ❤️🙏🏻

    Idea: ask at church for free old socks and nylons or towels or wash clothes etc or any netting people are wanting to be rid of and use these as containers to hang garlic?

    You have to smash the garlic then put in spray bottle with water that's supposed to help you can also add some cayenne pepper to it

    Hi, Try hanging your garlic in tulle fabric. It's very inexpensive. Cut it into circles,place the garlic in the center,gather the fabric and tie it closed. Hang it like you did with the plastic bags. Blessings.

    Enjoyed your video. One suggestion I have heard about the Japanese beetle trap is that you place the trap away from your crops to draw the beetles away from your crops instead of into your crops. We have hand picked Japanese beetles for many years now and Last year we had many less than in the past years. And have not had any yet this year. We also remove the grubs when we find them when digging. They heavy attack our grapes, fruit trees did not see many on kiwis that we have.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  Місяць тому +1

      You're right. The trap was too close. I thought when they came to the kiwis they'd see the trap, but instead they were lured to the kiwis by the trap. Glad you haven't had any this year! We haven't had any this week so something is working!! I've never removed grubs so I need to do that. I've never thought of it. Thanks!

    You might consider selling blackberry plants from propagated 'runners'. Just another idea for a little extra income from things you already have on your farm. I have not known another family as industrious as yours! Complements! 💗

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  Місяць тому +1

      Hey, that's a good idea! That would be super easy. I wonder how I could get the word out. A nursery went out of business down our road last year so I'm hesitant to try selling any plants. But I'm happy to try.

    Try Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew. It is organic. You should try growing dill and cucuzi squash. The bugs don’t like the smell and the can grow intertwined with the kiwis.
    A mesh bag might work better with the garlic. I would just weave a whole plant or two into the bush. If that is cudzu it can be eaten by animals. It has a high protein level.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  Місяць тому +1

      We do have a lot of dill in our garden boxes. Maybe if it's closer to the kiwi?

    Warm blueberries in a covered dish in microwave for two minutes or so until they pop and add a tablespoon or two of syrup (depending upon quantities of blueberries) and use for pancake/waffle syrup.

    Place the beetle trap away from the plants, you don't want them coming to the same area. Put it on the outskirts of your property. is your Blueberry Hill open to the locals to pick? If so, how would I go about getting the information or have you thought about selling them at the Farmers Market?

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  Місяць тому +1

      I don't have enough blueberries for a farmers market. Probably only 5 containers worth a day. If I went to a market I should probably bring 100. The markets around here are hard to get into. They have limited spots and they fill up quickly, to people who have been before. Hard for newcomers to get in. But some day I do want to try one and see what I can sell. So far it works to have people come pick themselves and every few days we pick for our freezer. I want enough for us to eat all winter and also to make jam with. But maybe when there aren't very many kids at home I'll have enough to sell at a market.
