Thank you yet again for this tutorial my friend. I managed to land a new pair of Alphas and had completely forgotten how to configure shift states with the VPC Tool. This is the second time your video guide really helped me out configuring a set of Virpil sticks (temporarily had two Deltas before passing them onto a friend). Cheers!
Is there any way to use a button on one stick as a shift state for a button on another stick (both virpil alphas)? I know I can use joystick Gremlin but trying to avoid additional software and would love to have the LEDs on each grip change as state indicators. It’s seems from your videos the virpil software can’t act as a live bridge between the sticks and windows so I’m guessing it’s not possible. Just want confirmation.
@@HavocCompanyClan the reason for not using JG isn’t to do with cpu it’s that I have lots of other peripherals and last time I tried it the vjoy ID ruined all the bindings for my other devices in other games. I’m not going through that again. I’ll see if a combination of led_control and shift_bridge can do what I want. 👍🏻
@@fergusmoloney Oh you have a really super old CPU then, ah that's crap mate? Because joystick gremlin uses pretty much little or no CPU usage. Vjoy if used correctly does not change any other joystick device ID's the only one it effects is its own. BUT I have had issues with Virpil firmware updates fucking things up several times in the past eg the newer firmware for dec/2020 and newer changes the joystick ID (GUID - VID / PID) and broke about 72 binding files I had for DCS, tho luckily I figured a very fast fix for that issue, so be careful with updating your Virpil firmware!
Thanks for this as it was a huge help! It does bring up a question, though: I have both a T50CM AND a MT50CM2 Throttle - I would presume I can use the shift state button on the T50CM (physical button 4) to apply shift to the MT50CM2, correct? If so, how do I do that?
Thanks for this - but I can't get windows to detect any (additional) virtual shift-state buttons that are assigned to anything past the first 28 that are detected. The shift state does work if I assign it to one of the first 28 (after clearing it), but no joy for anything past 28 buttons. Is there anything that allows windows to detect more then 28? Note that I also tried detecting the additional buttons in Joy2Key and Gremlin, reset my computer multiple times, and tested on two virpils all with no joy..
@@HavocCompanyClan Okay, I found out the problem. For some reason the shift state would never work for the first key I bound. When I bound the second key, then the previous shift state worked..And so on...Very odd, not sure what/where/why but it is working now. And thanks again for these videos, as per someone's previous comment Virpil should at least be throwing you some free swag as this really fills in the gaps of their documentation.
I dunno man, Virpil gives me no equipment/money to help in making these videos, I have to pay for it the equipment myself and spend time and effort creating these videos, so I do not own a CP1 as I cannot afford it
Been all over YT and can't find a reference for a control setting where you can reduce control inputs by a set percentage in a shift state or mode - for instance, a 6% stick deflection is taken as 3% until the shift is turned off. Can you direct me to the correct video?
Does this have any effect on dcs modifiers? I've found that with the t-50 cm2 that when you use the pinky switch as a modifier within the game then you have to hit it again to turn it off. On my x52 it was only active if it was held down. Now I have to hit the modifier, my button then modifier again to 'turn it off'. Any help?
I do not use modifers or any other bindings within DCS (only axis I bind in DCS) , every so often ED make a fuckup and break all your bindings, I use joystick gremlin to abstract my configs away from DCS
Nick Williamson just found this video. I assume you figured it out, but in DCS there are two types of modifiers. The left window is for active when held, and the right window is for toggled on and off with each press.
Thank you. I was going through the manual but it wasn't making much sense. Your explanation is much clearer.

Thanks for the tutorial. I was looking at grip mapping for dcs. Couldn’t figure out what they meant by mode or shift. Your video helped alot
thanks for the video. it makes pretty good sense and I'll try to get a shift modifier setup on my viril con alphas.
Another awesome tutorial, thanks!!
Thank you! I ordered a VFX grip so this will come in handy for the weapons switch in some games

Joystick gremlin uses practically NO CPU time so it will not effect your PC performance when running it, there is a VPC shift util in the tools folder

How do I assign a key e.g. Right Control keyboard key to button 31?

Easiest way would be to use joystick gremlin, check out my other tutorials for info on this

windows joy.cpl will only SHOW 28 buttons even if you have more, use VPC joytester to see how many are really there

@@Cynikill I wish I got free stuff, I honestly don't bother with shift states thru VPC config , I use gremlin t handle that
Nice tutorial. Can you use shift states to change fome one analog curve to another?
Kind of a duel rate analog curve
Nope, but you can use axis zoom to change an analog axis sensitivity
Thanks for your response. Just waiting for my verpil order to come in.
What about the Shift tool with CM2 + CP1? shift tool doesn't seem to do anything
