Great info, man, thanks - just got Virpil T-50 CM3. New software is *slightly* different than shown here, but not in any way that this did not work perfectly. Now to decide *what* to bind *where* :D
All of your videos are invaluable and so well done. I'm extremely thankful you have done them and I have mad respect for the time and effort you've put in here. Your videos have helped me learn so much and now I've got all my stuff set up the way I want it.
@@MrNoice96 I contacted VIrpil asking if I could please have some equipment free of chrage for creating more tutorial videos / doing reviews of it and they said NO, all of the equipment I use in my tutorials I had to pay for myself
Very detailed video. 👍 I just ordered a Virpil throttle today and I’m hoping that once I have it in hand that the finer points of your tutorial will become clearer. I have no tech skills at all so it seems very daunting. To help with visualizing your points in future videos, is it possible to show in a corner of the screen a concurrent video of you manipulating the controller? Cheers.
Great videos, I set up my throttle initially using an earlier one. Very helpful! Elite Dangerous is another game where the ID's will wreck you button map, though I found I could open up the BIND file with Notepad++ and manually edit the device number. You can also edit Joystick Gremlin device numbers through the device id menu item (I think that's what it's called, I'm on a laptop without JG so I can't check.) I found out the hard way about firmware changing device ID's! What do you usually use the toggle switches for? I have one pair of mine set to act as true toggles and I use them for the two VR Zoom levels in DCS. The zoom is only active as long as the button press is held, so I find it convenient to use the toggles to flip on and off. I have a CM2 so I've got 4 toggles, and I was wondering what other functions might map well to them.
HavocCompanyClan, i'm really struggling to find a way to be able to set each push button to change colour. For example, i want to push a button to go into scanning mode. I set the button to Soft.Toggle, but i'd also like the button to represent either the ON or OFF state appropriately. How might i do this?
Question - After you get your initial firmware update done and things more or less how you want them - do you still have to disconnect a device to tweak that or can you leave them plugged in and just select the one you want to work with if your not updating firmware? It is a real p.i.t.a to unplug and then have windows change around things and have to remap everything - I find this happens in Elite Dangerous, it would be great if your not updating firmware to leave everything plugged in when just changing a devices profile. Also on the throttle - I have the CM2 not the one in your image - the buttons on the base are unusable unless your at 35%+ throttle because the throttle blocks them. Would there be a way to configure something like 0-35% = Reverse where the lower the number the faster in reverse you move, 35-40% = Neutral/Deadzone , 41%-100%= forward with maybe 98%+ kicks in a boost. I think this might be ideal in Elite when your playing a chill session of exploring or mining, especially in VR - you could reach all the buttons except when in reverse which I have never found I needed them. Right now I basically only map things that I don't really need or a duplicate bind because they are always blocked... such a waste.
For sure flashing the firmware with more than one device connected can fuck them up. I think stuff after that is ok to do. If you are having issues with windows swapping devices ... set the boot delay on each device differently and never move USB ports
Great video though you never explained why you set up the Hornet throttles the way you do. Do they pull back to the cutoff detent if you don't do it that way?
Thank you for your tutorials. Unfortunately your forums are down. I still cannot figure out the difference between 'encoder dial' and 'encoder scroll'. Also, I want my encoder to send many more keypresses per click of rotation (As it is the encoder dial is painfully slow to use as a zoom function) Unfortunately the latest virpil software does not allow customizing the delay interval. Another way is to use joystick gremlin, but that too is painfully slow and the zooming is stuttery. Any ideas on how to make the encoder dials more aggressive?
Very detailed video but i have an issue with my CM3. I can't switch my encoder two button on the right rotary control in two normal or toggle buttons. After i made the operation then i click save but i have again Encoder like default. My software version is 20220407
Hello Havoc, Love your videos keep up the good work. I have an issue while setting up my axis on my Throttle. is there a way to manually set the Throttle percentages for the throttle arms? during the celebrations they do not line up, there is a slight offset after the celebrations are complete. if anyone else has an answer to this please feel free to comment and assist. Thank you in advance
you can manually calibrate a single throttle axis, unlock the handles , calibrate the single axis that is giving problems, click save , then click SAVE VPC DEVICE
@@HavocCompanyClan Thank you for the reply. You had mentioned something about unlocking the handles. where would you unlock the handles? could you please be more specific on the procedure for unlocking the handles? is this what you were referring to? ua-cam.com/video/oDEMgrHHJNs/v-deo.html&ab_channel=HavocCompanyClan thank you again.
I think the E1 dial on my CM2 is messed up. It presses both buttons in VPC Joystick Tester and sometimes it goes bananas and keeps sending constantly even after I let go of it until I turn it the other way. The E2 and other dials do not have this problem. Happens with buffer or not. It's like the two physical buttons on that encoder are not working together.
Aha, found my problem. The 2 associated logical buttons for a single encoder must be consecutive. I had made 4 copies of my encoder to make it work with the mode switch, but I had 1234512345 instead of 1122334455 :)
Thanks for the great video, though I am having an issue getting the throttle to turn off 5 mode modifiers. When I change it then save it to vpc device it reverts to the 5 mode modifiers profile. Any advice?
go to the profile tab select the correct throttle model, set no mode modifier then click create new profile, then SAVE VPC DEVICE, then calibrate the throttle
buffer on, you click really fast 10 clicks .......... none are missed it "stores" them and sends them to windows. Buffer off, you click really fast .... clicks are missed
Buffer means that if you move the dial quickly , it will count how many clicks have been created and send them to windows at a set rate, normal mode you spin the dial quickly it might miss some clicks

I think you just omitted a very important point when you warned us about the new firmware. Virpil has also removed the option "Split to virtual device by 32 buttons" since version 20200925 (so the last version that has the option is the 20200325). It will be a problem if you play games like Elite Dangerous (shame on them) that use old DirectX libraries and limit devices to 32 buttons. You will then be forced to use third-party mappers like Gremlin...
