I had this car. It is insane. It is extremely responsive, as soon as the traffic light turns green, you pull off in a few micro seconds leaving all those big engine cars behind for the next 100 yards. The engine noise makes you feel doing 100 mph in a rally car when actually doing 30 LOL.
I have one in red from 2000. I named it Raketten (Danish for "the Rocket") People allways think I mean sarcasticly, but I am dead serious. The acceleration in this tiny car feels almost as strong as it did in my BMW 320i. :-D
I have a 2005 Cuore. It has no airco and no powersteering. All that power goes to the front wheels and i can tell you i leave most GTI far behind at the trafficlights. I love my Cuore who we lovingly call "The Bobmobiel" :)
I have an 1999 one, the same one as this. It is still surprisingly fast at the traffic lights, and I often leave a lot faster cars behind me. I do not have a lot of luxory as well, but I drove faster and newer cars and I do not feel I am missing much with my version of the Bobmobiel.
Great car (2002,year) I bought it 4 years ago and i'm still very happy with the Cuore, 130 km/h feels very comfortable on the highway. Low in tax in Holland. They were laughing at me 4 years ago, now i'm laughing at them because i do not spent much money on fuel!!!
i saw a two door one with a red and black paint job and for such a very small practical car it looks pretty nice. its certainly more fun to drive and even more economical than a smart!
Great car, i have one from 2007 and quite unbreakable. I have some transmission noises, most people said the transmission would be dead in 100 kilometers and here i am still chugging along 22.000km later
Had it's predecessor L500 as my first car since junior year of high school up until college sophomore year. Even smaller than this L701, and quirkier with a manual transmission and bare bones, it was a fun little machine. Not to mention it was the lightest car in the local used car market.
A pity the UK never received the related Classic Mini-inspired Daihatsu Mira Gino, though now featuring more potent 85-108+ hp 1.3 K3-VE engines from the Daihatsu Sirion otherwise known as Blue Turd spec for any MCM fans out there or even the 127-138 hp 1.3 Turbo V3-VET unit from the Daihatsu YRV and Daihatsu Terios (assuming it fits in easily).
No to mention the conversion from FWD to AWD. Surprisingly this car has tons of mod that the owners can do. As far as I know there are several YRV turbo conversion done at my place and the engine fits perfectly in the engine bay with slight adjustment to the engine bay bracket and crossings with suspension tuning to accommodate the larger and heavier engine. With weight just under 800Kg it is kinda fast with the 1.0L EJ engine. Planning on getting the K3-VET in the future to put it in my car which is a Perodua Kelisa and already 11 years old with the same EJ engine since it was bought.
It's a beast of a car. It goes very quick on the motorway. I do lots of motorway driving from London to North of England. It never once broke down and definitely feels more like a 1.4 litre car rather than a 1 litre car. Especially for a car which is 19 years old.
Mine drives 145kmh nicely and until 70kmh its really quick! Though, check if theres oil leftover in the exhaust. They use a lot of oil when being regarly pumped to the 5000rpm
Hello! British! Do you know that this car was sold in Japan with the front appearance of old Mini, and many are still in use in 2023 ? I have one too.(lol That Osaka-made fake brand product might be more appealing to you than a giant Bavaria.
Mira (L700,Cuore/Kelisa in Japan) had a type called ``Mira Gino'' that looked very similar to the Mini of the 1950s. When Daihatsu was pointed about the similarities by journalists and customers, they responded by saying, ``We made it look like our company's 1960s Compagno.'' However, when the 2nd generation Mira Gino(L650, known as Trevis in EU) was released, it looked so much like the 2000s BMW Mini that Daihatsu exposed the lie themselves. Japanese journalists and customers slipped and fell to the floor, following the traditional reaction of Osakan comedy.
Yellow cars are rarely attractive. The Mira above isn't unattractive in itself, yup it's small but so what? They're fast, economical on petrol, reliable, easy to park and fun to drive. What more could an eco friendly driver want?

What a mad car! :)
You're still active!!!
I own one, THRASH it every single day, it still never misses a beat. The VVT is so aggressive, it's awesome :D
I think every Cuore needs some sort of MCM sticker on it.
Mad
Thought I'd find you here
Still driving ours after 20 years and still as much fun as ever. Love this little car
Have one aswell, mine is 5 months younger than me so 19 years old, drives amazing and is really really fun even has a great AC
I just got an 02 few weeks ago and absolutely love it 😂

I've bought one recently for €650,- and I love it. You get so much value for your money
And with a little bit of TLC, they last very long!
I love the Cuore 😘 I still remember my father picking me up from Kindergarten with his our red Cuore
Fricken love mine. bought it last week and my word it's nippy for a 989cc car. My one is the L701 version.

no airco, no Powersteering but does have abs. it is so fun to drive😅

seriously, i dont even think of the cuore as "thaaat" ugly... its no Veyron, Agera or Carrera GT but its certainly not ugly.
i saw a two door one with a red and black paint job and for such a very small practical car it looks pretty nice. its certainly more fun to drive and even more economical than a smart!
veyron is ugly
True, but many sports cars and supercars as awesome as they may be are quite ugly as well
It was a slight letdown from the cute-looking L500, though. Not to mention quite brawnier than it's predecessor.
At first I thought I have seen this car before, then I realized it was Perodua Kelisa that is based on this car
Great car, i have one from 2007 and quite unbreakable. I have some transmission noises, most people said the transmission would be dead in 100 kilometers and here i am still chugging along 22.000km later
Like if you instantly thought of Mighty Car Mods
I got an 02 to offset the cost of racing an RX8 and it's been a solid and fun as hell little nugget!

One major difference between the Daihatsu and the Mini...
The Daihatsu was reliable!
1:31 KANSEI DORIFTO
Got mine 2 days ago, thought itd be slow and lackluster, how wrong i was its fun as to drive and has some go for what it is.
2:12 20v 3 cyl engine..? Wtf? 6.66 valves per cylinder..?
devil's work huh?
+RÅLAND 12V
I think it's 12v not 20v

You can get the Trevis in Germany and the Netherlands. It has the EJ-VE with 58 PS. It's my dream car. I have the L701 at the moment.

Either the car makes Richard look big or Richard makes the car look big, it depends on the angles
These are good cars.
20 valves in 3 cylinder???? how many valves in one cylinder?
Twenty valves on a 3 cylinder twin cam?! :D
So umm, how does it have 20 valves on a 3 cylinder engine? :D
+Jason W. Morningwood It's japanese, they do some weird stuff
+Jason W. Morningwood my mom have one its an 12valve
More room? More valves.
I just bought one, from 2000.

Hello! Nice to meet you.
I'm taka and japanese.
I have L700S. (japanese name is MIRA.)
I want genuine cuore sticker!
Could someone tell me please...how it performs on a Highway. Thank you in advance.

90 kph tops and its not happy at that ,I stick at around 80 ,flog it too hard and you will blow the head gasket.
Mine drives 145kmh nicely and until 70kmh its really quick!
Though, check if theres oil leftover in the exhaust. They use a lot of oil when being regarly pumped to the 5000rpm
Just don't go faster than 130kph and you'll be fine 😂
good car. ,if u not interessting in what other people thinking.
Basically the same car as the Perodua Kelisa.
+Skoda130 Yeap
It's 12 valve, but ok, you know best Mr Hammond.
Do you own one? If yes Neat! can you make videos about it?
Sold it about 4 months ago :(
Really under rated car though IMO
I always thought it was a nice looking little car, still is.
Why does he insist on pronouncing the name wrong though? It’s irritating
Hows the savety in this car?
It has a 1L, 3 cylinder 20 valve engine??
Does this car have power steering
hah! Hammond had to scoot his seat forward in a Daihatsu

Richard sounds like he's grappling with phlegm when he says Cuore!
its fantastic
ive had 5
Agreed. It's a really nice car.
@@SilentNight-us2tn i drive a yellow one because my car broke but its not that nice its fucking small and ugly but you can race like a maniac

wow
I bet if it was sold today it would sell like hotcakes thanks to Mighty Car Mods.
I love that mine doesn't have servo steering!
I would not want to be found dead in this king of dullness. Jeremy actually demolished one with a hammer.
I have a blue Cuore. 2002.
We only had the 2 door version here in Australia. Good car. Never skips a beat after 12 years. Daihatsu are reliable, but not fancy.
A car perfect for Richard's own size
Exactly! He has issues!
Listen people. I had this car many years a go. That car is on steroids lmaoo. Really quick in the city.
engine fuel capacity?
34-40L if you still care after 4years 🤪😅
Translation: "I don't like being seen in a small car, cause they're my size, and I kind sorta maybe feel like compensating in bigger ones." %)
