If I did can I am sure I would not have a bit of trouble ,because you are a good teacher.I can’t wait to watch you make chow, chow. I use to love that with pinto beans. Love ya
My Granny used to make squash pickles. I loved them. She passed a few years ago at 96. You said next you would be doing chow chow another favorite. I can't wait to see you again.
Miss Lori, I love your kitchen so much, it is so fascinating how you have forgone the typical cabinets and made your own from furniture pieces it is just wonderful, looks so cozy and so efficient I would take it any day over the new trend of minimalist or whatever you call it.. in fact, your entire home is this way.. so soothing! Thank you and Mr Brown for sharing it all with us! Blessings!
I love your canning videos, Mrs. Lori. I've always adored your home, but I must say that, seeing it at night, it's especially beautiful. I'll bet it's so peaceful on your homestead. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
It is so relaxing to watch you can your produce. I used to can pickles and relishes with my mother in law. I learned a lot from her. Lots of good eating during the wintertime. Those were the good old days.
Hi Lori . Those squash pickles are great . I've been making them for years. And yes, they taste like a bread and butter pickle. There is absolutely nothing more gratifying then at the end of your day after everything is cleaned up and you admire all your hard work sitting on a towel. Also, your house smells wonderful when canning pickles.
Hello Miss Lori. You are such a wonderful teacher. I think you say just the right amount of directions/reasons for even me a no experienced canner to follow you. I love put up veggies like this do I need to start canning. My moms and mother-in-law passed before I married so so passed down cooking skills or recipes. You make me ready! Thank you as always. Like those green glasses. My hair is your twin color now. Sit is so hot in Virginia I have it pulled way up everyday. God bless you guys too. Stay well.
I just finished watching your lunch lady peanut butter bars, and noticed you uploaded a new video, and o course I hit that play button fast! Thank you for the video! Blessings from Canada!
I love the recipes you've show us using squash! Those pickles look so delicious, I can hardly wait to try them. It always seems like you just thought you were done with them...and here comes more! Sure do love your channel!!
We picked squash when they were 6 inches long. Sometimes, they were larger, and we scooped out the seeds and, grated the squash, and we made squash relish. We added a few hot peppers as desired.
Yum-mee! Major pickle fans at our home. Over the recent 3 weeks we froze and canned veggies, plus shared some of our bounty of fresh-picked zukes (peppers, onions, and maters, too) with friends, far and wide. Plus, for the first time, we canned sandwich stacker style pickled zucchini using our refrigerator beer pickles recipe. Also, we recently found a recipe for baked zucchini tots. They were delicious, and will help add variety to the zukes menu choices this season. I'm excited for learning your chow-chow method. Suddenly, I'm craving toasted sour dough bread, spread with softened brie or creamy goat cheese, then topped with chow-chow.
Oh my! I haven't had squash pickles since I lived at home. My mother would buy them from a lady at the farmers market. They were always so good! Now, I can make my own! Thanks so much Ms Lori!!
I've made pickled squash. A bit similar to how you do it. They came out really good. Nothing wrong with how you do it. A friend suggested that he liked to use them in his potato salad. I've used them in salads, and as snacks. I need to make another batch. Thanks for the reminder!
I don't know why ... but this video of you making these squash pickles made me so happy!! I have never had them or canned them, but it just brought a smile to my heart!! When my husband & I first moved to where I live now (27 years ago) my mama & I made bread & butter pickles in my kitchen (& salsa. too) ... I think I want to see if my mama wants to try to make a batch of these like you made ... we don't have any of this planted this year but maybe we could grab what we need from the Farmer's Market & make another memory. Thank you for bringing such JOY to my evening!!
Those look absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait to try this. My garden filled my arms with squash today, and I was thinking of a nice recipe to preserve them. Thank you for saving the day. I look forward to your chow chow recipe also. 😁
I tried your squash pickle recipe and I love them! I have never canned squash like this before but I am wishing I had found your video before my squash played out. My daughter, granddaughter and 1 year old great granddaughter love, love, love these. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and time with all of us. Have a very blessed day!
I always look so forward to your video's. Right now the canning video's are most helpful. I haven't done a lot of canning since my younger years with my mother & need this info desperately. Right now with the Covid & all the shortages as well as the state of everything, I think we should all be stocking up & canning everything possible. I love your recipes as well & they remind me so much of the foods I was raised on & loved so much. I hope you will continue to share & bless us with your knowledge & advice, especially in these trying times. Many Blessings To You & Yours
Those look amazing. My husband just recently started liking squash, and he loves pickles. I bet he would love these. I’ll have to try and make some. Thank you Miss Lori. One day I hope I have a pantry as pretty as yours.
That looks so good. Can’t wait to see the relish and the chow chow. My uncle died and his chow chow recipe is not to be found. All the kids loved it. I bet yours is good too. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
I made yellow squash relish yesterday using the same spices, plus pepper, that you used in these pickles! : ) I used ground mustard as opposed to mustard seed.
My Mama made Squash Pickles and we love them, so I make them every summer or two. We love to put it on peas and butter beans, and I love put the brine on cornbread. So good!
Thank you so much for making these videos! I have no one to teach me how to can, I feel like you're right in the kitchen with me, talking me through each step❤
I love pickled Okra. It's amazing this way. I only like Okra fried or pickled. Some people cook it down in frying pan like people do yellow squash or zucchini. But I really don't care for how slimy it gets cooked that way. I picked some crook neck squash other day because I was making refrigerator pickles with Mrs. Wages dill pickle mix and I had little juice left over and more squash then i could eat before they went bad. ( I know how to can but don't have pressure cooker, or any extra jars) and I pickled 3 half gallon jars. I was really surprised at how good they turned out. But I'm a dill flavored anything junky so others might not care for them
Oh girl pickled okra is the best! Try out a store brand called Texas something, anyways they are really good ones. That way you can see if you wanna make it. So easy too
Thank you for sharing this great recipe without the pressure cooker!! I will be trying it. As a first time canner, your instructions give me the confidence that it will be successful!!!
The best way to preserve okra is to wash them, lay them out on a clean bath towel to dry COMPLETELY. Be sure they are not damp at all. Then put them in food saver bags, seal and freeze. They are just like you picked them from the garden when ready to cook.
Thank you for showing this recipe! I’ve never heard of pickled squash but it sounds so good and I like that it has Tumeric in it - for its medicinal properties. I saved this since it’s water bath. I’ve also never tasted a pickled egg! As always- stay well & God Bless You & Yours! 🤗 🇺🇸 🙏🏽
What a great idea with the squash! Our squash here is just getting ready for the picking. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I always enjoy your videos.

Thank you for sharing. I have a lot of yellow squash in my garden and this recipe will come in handy. I also have made zucchini sticks boiled in equal parts of vinegar and water then packed in olive oil, garlic and a touch of oregano.
I use the same recipe for what I call relish because we eat it with dried beans and peas. The batches are never the same because I use whatever is in abundance at the time, bell pepper slices, banana pepper rings, squash, cucumbers, green tomato slices. I always add a few slices cayenne rings, not enough to really be hot but added flavor. My husband’s favorite has the green tomatoes because he likes the tang they give it. Thanks for all the videos. Stay well, my Brother and Sister.
Miss Lori, I will make'n this squash. ASAP ! Head'n to the farmers market in the morning !!! Yipeeeeeeeee !!!! Thank you 😊. God Bless ........ and happy day !
Love squash pickles. Really anyway you cook squash. I also like raw sliced yellow squash and zucchini in my salads. Even picky eaters will eat the salad. I enjoy your videos and your homestead. Have a blessed day, stay safe and hea6.
Was hoping we would see squash pickles one day! YUM! Oh, and this gal loves her some pickled eggs...I keep two jars going, one for eatin' and one for waitin' til they're just right. Good video tonight, Mrs Lori! ❤️
@@dianetucker2711 It would surely work, but I use beet juice instead of sugar....no pickling spices, but I like to add a few slices of jalepeno and some chunks of Vidalia onion too! I'm fortunate to live right down here in South GA where we can get them from the onion farms.
Oh Lori, any meal is a good time to eat pickles.😁 I cut mine abt a quarter inch & I put a few more onion in mine. Love these! This is a great starter recipe for ppl new to canning. 💞

I hear so many people say they like zucchini pickles better than cucumber pickles so I can’t wait to try this. And will be waiting for your relish recipe.
Update on this recipe......... It brought tears to my eyes. Miss Laurie these taste just like my granmaws! I know I probably could have waited longer but I literally made them last week and have eaten 2 jars already! God Bless you and Thank you for the wonderful memories that came flooding back! I shouldn't be so surprised, my Granmaw was from Little Rock!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. I am home bound disabled and have adapted to being able to cook (lol and can) and sew from my electric recliner chair with my WONDERFUL husbands help. We will be making these for sure as well as Zucchini pickles. I have had and made lots of homemade pickles over my life but never seen these. Really looking forward to the squash relish video as well as the Chow Chow video. We don't have a garden (I would if I was not disabled) but we have a nice farm stand not far from us. Just picked up both squashes to make zucchini spaghetti with chicken, zucchini bread, now pickles, and fried yellow squash and now pickles. I like the spoon you were spooning the squash into the jars with. Would love a closer look at it and know where to buy one. ALWAYS in need of a spoon that size when canning!!!!!!!!!
I haven't canned a loti don't have a pressure cooker so your video and recipe is great, I cannot wait to attack my squash as this is my first year growing it. I look forward to checking more of your recipes.
These came out so great!! Was shocked at how I like my yellow squash better than cucumbers. This is a game changer for sure! Thanks so much for the recipe. :)
Hi Miss Lori ,they look interesting, I never heard of squash pickles But I love fried squash Like you not a big pickle fan But I definitely would try them God bless you and Mr Brown And your family 🙏❤😘
I definitely know the meaning of being overwhelmed with squash when it come in ! Mrs .Lori , one of the ways I use up some squash is by Grating up some , adding a 1 egg , diced onion , flour to thicken, salt and pepper .then frying it just like potato patties .. oh my goodness they are good . You can also Grate up your squash ,put in freezer bags and make these year round ! Try I think you will like them .. 😘
I have 5 pints processing right now and mercy, I tasted that pickling brine and can't wait to pop open a jar of the zucchini spears that I put in with onions and a couple of slices of jalapeno pepper on top. Great video! To the point, easy to follow, and answered the questions I might have had along the way. Can't wait to check out your other videos. p.s. What an amazing kitchen!!

Awe, that wonderful!
Awesome canning...I’m going to give that a try....God Bless 🙏🏻🇺🇸❤️
Thank you, xoxoxo
I haven't canned a loti don't have a pressure cooker so your video and recipe is great, I cannot wait to attack my squash as this is my first year growing it. I look forward to checking more of your recipes.
These came out so great!! Was shocked at how I like my yellow squash better than cucumbers. This is a game changer for sure! Thanks so much for the recipe. :)

Glad you like them!
Great idea. I never even thought of pickling squash!
I love how you change up the intro!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ so happy to visit!!!!

I can't wait for you to release a cookbook. I'll 110% be buying at least one copy for myself. But I'll more than likely buy one for my brother's girlfriend.
