Thank you sooooo very much for your time in which you give all of us out here on the net. I have learn so much about canning as well as gardening, from watching your videos. I truly do appreciate both of you for what you do in sharing with us your life together, and again the giving of your time to teach us young folks, about being more independent, an not being so dependent on going to the store for all our foods. That we can grow and put up our own foods and such. Canning everything that there is now. With the way things are at this time with our Nation in a shutdown. Food as well as alot of other things are going to get hard to come by soon. It's because of people like yourselfers, that not just us young people but all of us who want to keep these old ways alive, will. Because in the times we are now living in, the things that you two are teaching will help alot of people to come. To be able to feed themselves and their families as well as others. We will be able to take that which you guys have given us through your videos, and pass on to help others who will be in need of growing their own food to feed their families. May Our Lord continue to Bless you and your family. God Bless stay safe and healthy and happy you two.

Good day Miss Lori! Mr. brown! I have a few questions/requests. May you please demonstrate how thick you cut the squash and did you leave them whole or halve them? Unfortunately my vision isn’t what it use to be. I’ve worn glasses for a greater part of my life. And I’m waitin to have cataract surgery in the near future, hopefully. Thus with the camera where it was at - it was hard to see how you had cut them and to what thickness. I guess as your student I just want to see and know (learn) everything lol. And is it possible to list the items and ingredients used. what water level was used in the pressure cooker? You’re teaching a wide range of viewers. I’d be in the beginners range. Lol. Thank goodness for your patience. I thank God for your wisdom and willingness to teach all of us. You’re truly a blessing! Lastly, may Mr Brown one day show us how to clean and fillet a fish? I love to fish but I’d sure like to know how to clean & fillet it too lol. TY, TY, TY. PS: look forward to a cookbook from you. Hope it has pictures, too. Blessings to you and Mr. Brown! 8/12/2020 CA

    • @WhippoorwillHoller

Kat, the squash was 1 inch thick, cut in half, the water in your pressure cooker is always 3 quarts
The water in the jars is 1 inch head space, which is right up to the first top ring, get you a ruler to use, thats a easy way to tell, xoxoxo

Whippoorwill Holler thanks Lori for responding. Unfortunately, I am having trouble finding a pressure canner right now. Just reading books on canning and watching videos. So maybe by the time I find a canner, I will feel more confident on trying my hand at it. I did make some salsa that I water bath canned, and it was so good. Just want to make a double batch next time. Since I live by myself, making a huge pot of gumbo would be good to be able to can it up so I can have it anytime. Same with seafood gumbo, chicken soup and hearty beef vegetable soup. I really enjoy watching your videos, and love your cabin. Thanks again.

Lemon thyme is also good to repel mosquito's. If you plant it around your outside sitting area and water a little when you go out they hate the smell. We take some in baggies camping and just rub on hands and neck etc. Smells better than bug spray and doesn't invade your nostrils the same way.🙂

I LOVED this video.... thank'ya SO much! I can't tell ya how many cans of veggies, soups, salsa that my dad and I have canned over the years. I lost my mom and then my dad a few months later this past year and am just devastated. Your video brought a smile to my face with memories and you seem to can exactly the way we did. I have a question for ya.... do you put vinegar in with the water in the bottom of your canner and if so, how much? (Not in the jars, but the bottom of the canner itself)? My dad did and I can't for the life of me remember why, ugh! I think it was to help keep the jars from cracking and busting, I think --- Ya know, I can remember everything about it when he was here, but now that he's gone, I think my brain is blocking a lot out, frustrating.... Love ya'll to pieces. I don't think I'm gonna stay here on the farm. I'm gonna move to our family land in Arkansas... I've been toying with the decision as it's SO hard here (Texas) with the memories, but watching y'all and your videos is like the Lord telling me to follow my heart and be there. I lived there for a few years before moving back to Texas to help my mom and dad with the farm... but my dad's dream was to be there in Arkansas, back to his roots and old stomping ground as well as family and family history. I wanna live my dream as well has his while I'm still young enough and am able to make the permanent move. Y'all are so inspiring and definitely so much just like me. I really do think that the Lord guided me your direction. Many Blessings and many thank'ya's... Rebecca

I would love to see a recipe that you use these for. I'm not sure what kind of dishes I could serve this in that my guys would like.

Its kinda like putting potatoes or extra veggies in something, just a filler
But I like to open and warm up a jar with butter just as a side dish
But I like squash, anyway you cook it
      Some people don't, xoxoxo

Thank you for sharing, I'm over run with yellow squash right now, I only planted two but they are both in full production mode. It's a blessing to be able to preserve some for winter soups and stews. Can you add zucchini, I've always dehydrated mine that we don't eat fresh, but having some canned would be good too?

Are they fresh or dehydrated herbs in your jars? I have loads of Zucchini, can't wait to can some for my shelf. I have fresh thyme and oregano. 😀

Great! I make up my ratatouille and then process it so its ready to go. I just heat the veggies, but don’t cook them cuz that will happen during processing. Comes out fabulous every time. I love canning and seeing a full cupboard.

Miss Lori - Did you put any acid (vinegar or lemon juice) in that or just plain water?
