Journey should play as an ending. Closer. But do you know what should play as the opening to the fight. The lead up? The original Destiny OST. Its main opening theme. A triumphant rise to fight the final fight. And in the end, all that is left is the Journey back home. I could imagine at the end of Journey, they play that quite closer from the Opening Theme.
The credits gotta roll on this one. I don't want to click the credits button because I want to see the list of names, but I want the credits to happen so that we know the story is over for now.

I somehow doubt they're going to include Eramis, Xivu, close other ends etc in The Final Shape, and will instead be in future "Episodes". I'd like The Final Shape to be more of an end like you're saying, and the start of something new, but I can't see that happening tbh

My idea or hope is that we die at the end but get reborn in the light, so we could still have the funeral and the meaningful end, but there is a lore reason we could keep playing. and we would get to redesign our character underneath.
In my opinion, The Guardian has to die in Final Shape. Either another guardian takes on the Witness with The Guardian's massive arsenal in their vault, or The Guardian dies at thr end of the raid instead. It'd be good from not just a story perspective, but gameplay, too. Being able to remake your character, respec abilities for the upcoming episodes after the expansion, and maybe even get new abilities entirely, as this guardian might shape their light differently.
Yeah, especially if there's gonna be a destiny 3, players won't have to sit through 2 games just to get a grip in the third, starting fresh sounds nice, especially with keeping the vault of your previous guardian.
While an interesting video, i feel that some parts don’t quite fit with each other, I feel that if the guardian has to die, they have to die, to show the nature of sacrifice when it comes to it.
To be honest, what the video shows is the more likely route. They've already set up the guardian dying to be the new future outcome with the Saint 14 questline, but also have stated they're going to keep the story going long after final shape. So it's either something similar at least to the video or we hit a hard reset and get to make a new guardian/old guardian comes back in a reality reset with all of the old gear still usable.

It would be awesome if we get something like halo reach where we (similar to Emile’s death) take the witness with us, lightless and using that sword that was found on the guardians grave from season 9. I feel like that would really make it bold and dark. A true ending to the guardian, but not for the people. Then it cuts to the funeral of our guardian as credits roll. Cayde comes to the guardian in our last moments, just as we did. This would make me reinstall the game to see its true end, because bungie really should not continue the game nor the story, but end it in a legendary way
Not many things get my hyped for destiny now adays but videos like this are what keep the community alive in times of darkness. This makes me more interested to see more details on "what if Golden Gun was a sniper" because the more I say it the more I think about how that thing is probably gonna be an unholy combo of icebreaker and zen meteor because both pretty heavily embrace what Golden Gun is all about, big damage, solar explosions, and rewarding accuracy. I can't wait lol. I mean with perks like discord being super balanced and fun to play around with we're already half way to having icebreaker back in the game and the other half is Cloudstrike simply doing what it does especially after the rapid fire buffs and catalyst drop. We got real proof that we can have ammo regeneration for specials without having another revoker situation. I never thought I'd see the day.
I am convinced that Ghost will likely die in this expansion, though probably at the climax and not halfway through. Osiris’s veil containment lines this season cemented this feeling for me, since it seems that in a place of immense Light (such as, say, inside the damn traveler) Ghosts can influence the Witness just like how the Witness can influence Ghosts in areas of intense Darkness. Also, Ghost is pretty beat up and damaged in the Final Shape trailer and his lines seem like they have a very “this is the last time I’m gonna be talking to you and I know it” kinda vibe. I think he’ll sacrifice himself to defeat the witness somehow.
You read my mind! I noticed that tone from Ghost myself in the trailer, since I found it very curious that he was the one narrating the trailer, not Zavala, not the Witness, our Ghost. Hinting at something here Bungie? 👀 I hope it's a deeply emotional campaign with very hard hitting moments 🙏

From a story perspective that's the only right decision, but removing the interface, rez mechanic and a cosmetic item in a live action game might just be too impractical. Could be a good shock moment if played right

That said, two major problems with it: First, I have no idea what would happen to ghost shells as a cosmetic item. Obviously they can’t just remove them entirely since people have paid for them and they probably want to sell more. Second, I think it would probably be really hard for them to change the animation for specific players only after they finish the Lightfall campaign, and just blanket changing the animations when Lightfall launches would give the twist away. So, I think it might be possible that like, the Traveler gives us a new Ghost, or our ghost’s like “personality” dies and it just becomes an automated thing instead of a real character. I just doubt that it would be as simple as “our ghost dies and then gets resurrected exactly the same”. I just don’t think they’d make the biggest character death in the expansion such a blatant fake out if they decided to go that route.

But due to the limited text that I could put on screen, I would have preffered to say something like "You are Lightless now but powerless against the sheer scale that is the Witness" and I would make it where you CAN use your Darkness abilities if you bought those expansions, but the narrative still remains the same: We lost our Ghost and the Witness monologues to us before he kills us for good.
If they do show our guardians grave, i want a scene where our guardian punched his way out of the tomb after the vision of the light. That would be baller
honestly what if when all hope is lost the gurdian about to die the traveler suddenly boosts your light to a point where you are pure light like what ghaul was in the red war and then you get to fight the witness as the embodiment of light
If we ever get a Destiny 3 I want it to be an entirely new guardian in the era after the young wolf’s death and focus more on venturing and exploring through the destiny universe. Less of a focus on the endless war of light and dark but more on but more on humanity’s expansion. There will still be threats along the way but they won’t come close to what D1 and D2 had.
Honestly, if our guardian dies, itd be perfectly set to start D3. It provides a valid reason as to why we have to start at 0. Why we don't have our loot and no light powers. Hopefully the traveler is gone. Than we have to rely on pure human badassery and dark powers. Imagine having to dive into old ruins to find golden age tech to combat whatever new bullshit the darkness amd vex are planning. Hopefully we'll get ship flying and ship combat and most importantly. Weapon crafting. Taking parts of weapon foundries and combining them with golden age relics to make new guns. So much potential if Sony tskes over Bungie.
Knowing bungie they'll do the exact opposite of this. Bungie storywritting used to be better but now? I'd just look to lightfall for what the mood is going to be. They're going to try and go for big massive spectacles that don't actually mean anything, there won't be any sense of danger unless it's in the raid and I very highly doubt that there's going to be any small moments to ground the player in the world that they created. I want so badly for the campaign to have the same mood as the wish keeper cutscene but I just don't think bungie has it in them
I can't begin to tell you how fucking happy sad and excited i'll be if they fucking kill our guardian. DO IT. I fucking loved season of dawn that was the beginning of the addiction for me. And i have always clung to the hope that they would make that ending real. It's not really fair what i'm going to say but Final shape needs to deliver because right now i'm expecting nothing less that awesome fucking stakes and campaign and if i don't get that ending in the final shape i'd be really disappointed to get something subpar
Agreed! For me right now, the campaign matters above all else. I'm really hoping they mean it when they said in the Showcase they are putting all their focus into the campaign and story, because its gotta be a hit in that department! Content can come later, but the STORY needs to be a hit right off the bat 💯

John Wick is definitely a good representation, especially the fact the Boudica-C exists in the game. So we can take out bad guys with an actual 9mm.

Their god didn't tell them what to do, so they got mad and decided to destroy everything.
