I have to give you props on your content. In an era of clickbaity headlines and creators spending 7 minutes trying to sell you something or trying to do some stupid comedy sketch, you cut to the chase with great ideas that are conveyed articulately. Keep up the awesome work!
@coachski74 thanks for the praise! I find pushing past 5 minutes to be a stretch. The video editor in me can’t stand the fluff and you and I have more important things to do. I’m glad to hear feedback like this from you guys. Let’s me know I’m heading in the right direction.
@Harbinger12 thank you! I also didn’t realize how effective Loot Hooks were until I saw it in my players. Perfect way to transition from a short game to a full campaign too!
Damn! This is genius! My PCs just discovered the “anarchist workshop” built by Myeritari refugees after the Dark Disaster at the end of the Crown Wars on the Sword Coast. I was looking old artifacts to hide in the laboratory, this is perfect and it’ll spin them into the next series of adventures perfectly! I LOVE your channel, thanks so much for what you do- incredibly helpful and no fluff!!!
@joshuaalcantar1273 best part is you can apply this to anything they’ve picked up. Lots of creative avenues to explore and they’ll be none the wiser haha! Much thanks for your comments, glad you’re finding the content useful :)
Love your ideas however I disagree on the point of cursed items. I run low magic gritty campaigns where magic items are very rare and they all have drawbacks. The only items I give are unique no rings of protection +1, no chainmail +2 or the like, everything could and should be considered an artifact as they are the only ones in existence. The trick is making the items powerful but also something with horrible enough drawbacks that they only want to use them in the most dire of instances. I really like using sanity rules which affect your wisdom, so lets say you have an item that every time it's used the user has to make a wisdom check if they fail the check they permanently lose a point of wisdom. Or a weapon that if they miss the to hit roll it vampirically does it's damage to the wielder. Stuff like this builds a lot of tension especially when the players already know the stakes.
@Shamustodd1 love your idea of straight up drawbacks! Definitely makes for a grittier game. Works great for a dungeon crawl too. I was thinking these examples in a campaign style setting which I normally run. Are you playing 5e or Call of Cthulhu? I’ve heard of sanity and stress rules but only outside D&D and Pathfinder 2e.
Aw man, this is so good. I love the idea of items that may not have much practical value but have intense lore value.
@ERBanmech and it doubles as world-building to boot.

Not necessarily magical loot as plot hooks. Brilliant
It seems so obvious, yet it hadn't occurred to me.
Great job 👍

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Twist table at the end!!! Would you mind if I add it to a zine I'm working on and give you credit?
@f.a.santiago1053 sounds great! Much appreciated. I’ve got an extended list too if you’d like. What’s the zine called?
@@EmergentGM I'll send you the link when I decide on the name. lolol
Also, I'll be filming my first UA-cam video in a while. Expect me to reference your name. 😁
