It is very good acting I agree, but the way that blush would have happened was Jenna Fischer quickly pressing her fingers into her cheeks when the camera was focused on Jim to make her cheeks turn red like that.
@@zApple769 I can't remember where I read it but I remember a whole long confession written by one of the set members how this chick would literally stalk the jim character in real life and would be a constant drama queen on set. She'd sabotage takes and throw temper tantrums and once or twice intruded on the jim character's personal comings and goings. Apparently they gave her warnings, etc. There was a lot more fucked up shit, i'll dig for the original source and share it when i find it.
Jenna Fischer said herself that this was one of her favourite scenes in the series. She really felt for her character Pam - and wanted so badly for them to finally be together, that it made her cry for real.
I remember seeing the scene where Michael admits he's dating Pam's mother, and Jenna Fischer pulls off the dramatic acting perfectly, as does Steve Carell, while John Krasinski plays it for laughs. The acting is amazing. You feel the tension when the focus is on Michael, the hilarity when it's on Jim, and the agony when it's on Pam. The acting and direction on this show was exceptional.
Amazingly Pam goes from "about to cry" due to sadness to "about to cry" due to overwhelming happiness in the course of just two mere minutes. The actress portraying her pulled it off divinely, no small task indeed.
I like John's acting when he's leaving the interview. The semi-doubt that he's rejected a great promotion, but then the determination that he did the right thing
He finally made the decision that he was going to get Pam and that's that. Even his previous attempts were somewhat awkward and very poor timing like in Casino Night. I think the look he gives is Jim saying to himself I rejected this promotion for one reason and now I'm going to get her. The confidence he asks her out with after bursting in is kind of the opposite of Jim who is so laid back so at first I think it takes Pam by surprise that Jim was so forthright. Jim decided that he was going to have his moment with his girl and marched right back to Scranton to do that. The look was the confidence he had that "I'm finally going to get her" and even when he asks her on a date, it's not stuttering or nervous. It's basically him saying I want you and you want me so we're doing this.
Pam is always in a state of inertia. She's always ready to settle, even if she knows it's not what she truly wants. I'm glad she became more assertive and honest in the later seasons.
He's not that much of a looker actually and this is coming from a really really huge John Krasinski fan so... It's more about the way he looks at Pam, like she's the greatest woman he's ever met (which is true for Emily Blunt too actually; she is one lucky bitch. I'd hate her guts if I didn't loved her so much) *TL;DR: It's always more, much more than the looks*
I really, really tried to like this show, but I could not get past Steve Carell's character. What a blowhard. Only made it through about 3 episodes and had to stop before I threw my shoe at the TV when he was on.
I was once in a similar situation as Jim. There was a girl who I got along with extremely well. We hung out all the time, we constantly made each other laugh, we were on the same wave length so often that we'd even finish each other sentences, as cliché as that may sound. I was completely in love with her, but she was in a relationship. The guy she was with wasnt a bad guy, but he seemed to know so little about her. Buying her gifts that she didnt really like, prefering to stay home when she wanted to go out, that sort of stuff. One day she told me she broke up with him. They were together quite long so she felt pretty bad about it. I waited a while for her to get over the breakup before "making a move" on her. One night we were alone together and I finally managed to bring up the courage to tell her how I felt about her. She looked me in the eyes and told me she liked me, but not in that way. It broke my heart. I had never felt that bad in my entire life. I went from loving spending time with her to feeling physically ill when I was in the same room as her. I wanted to stay friends with her, but it just hurt too much. We havent really spoken ever since.
You were not in a similar situation as Jim. Jim and Pam flirt frequently and are obviously attracted to each other. When a girl tells you she doesn't like you in that way, it means she isn't attracted to you.
Pam was absolutely giving up and she was ready to settle because she knew she had completely blown it with Jim and Jim was realizing he had one single last chance to be with her at the exact same time, shot down the job and rushed back to be with her. I love this show so much
I've seen this scene numerous times but when Jim says, Alright! Thenn it's a date, with those gentle taps on the window... those happy nervous taps on the window.. It makes this scene so real!! Mann the actors in this show 🙏🙏
The way Jim knows that his last chance was there and how he was obviously coming to that huge realization and thinking about her the whole car ride back. He just has a whole different, more confident energy about him opening that door like "idc what anyone says or thinks I need her and I'm doing this now" 😭😭💕 I LOVE THEMMM!!!
I love how casual it was, the phrasing and it was in the middle of her interview, like he just couldn’t wait one single second longer. No frills, just real, sweet, desperate love.
I love that after all of the stuff they went through, all it took was something as simple as him asking her out to dinner for it all to come together. When you put this up against the failures of all of the grand proclamations they make, it’s always the simple things that make them stand out as a couple. They are the epitome of *less is more*.
She's hardly been in anything since this, only movie I remember seeing her in was Blades Of Glory almost 10 years ago. Don't know why she doesn't make more appearances in other shows or films, she could win an Emmy with her hands tied behind her back if she ended up in a roll with good source material!
IIRC Jenna had a path to a big time Hollywood career, but chose to do other things like the Office Ladies podcast and took sporadic roles because she wanted to be at home with her husband and children. There were also rumblings that she was having trouble getting big time roles because producers thought audiences would never see her as anyone but Pam Halpert so there were some typecast issues. And as noted, she made a ton of money from The Office and is currently worth over $15 million so she's doing just fine.
Everything about this scene is perfect. The callback to Office Olympics when Jim opens his papers, the cutback to the beach with Jim and Pam saying but not saying how they felt, Jim rushing into the room during Pam’s talking head (which is something that had never happened before) and Jenna Fischer’s reaction and honestly her entire performance in this episode. One of the greatest scenes in television history.
Yup, it was perfect. The way he asks her out too is very un-Jim like. He asks her with extreme confidence and bursts in while she is filming which I think took Pam aback at first. Once she realized what was happening, she just melts. Love every second of this scene.

@@AGH331 Buddy, keep it watching, its fucking amazing, the first 4 seasons are a little slow, but it turns to be amazing. I have seen it like 6 times :P
I always liked the fact that the show chose to make it super obvious that Jim had this job in the bag, easy. Makes his choice to remove himself from contention and go ask Pam out all the more meaningful.
I was in the barracks with my squad and we watched this scene....you could hear a pin drop....then we all started yelling like we were banshees when Jim finally cowboyed the hell up and took his shot with Pam. CLASSIC.
I swear, her smiling at the end, was one the best performances i ever saw; i believed that she was overwelmed by happiness realizing that is all she ever wanted finally became true and she didn't realized that and couldn't believed that was happening.
I never even watched much of the office, but even I can’t help but smile and feel warm inside about Jim and Pam’s relationship together. Especially when stuff like this finally happens.
Seeing that yogurt lid really brought things around full circle for Jim. At that point he knew that Pam was always the one for him, and that just cemented it. Pam's reaction when Jim asks her out always brings me to tears
0:00 - 0:21 brilliant acting by John here. When asked a normal question Jim started spouting nonsense at first. He completely lost his normal rhythm there because he could only focus on Pam. It’s only at about 0:16 that he starts remembering the context he’s in and getting his rhythm back, before once again looking at Pam’s note and losing it again. Great writing too!!
Absolutely underrated acting unreal emotion. Huge fan of the office it's an amazing love story this was perfectly done. So casual from Jim and from Pam just everything changed in that one split second, beautiful.
Im tearing up every time i see this scene. The second that Jim asks her out while akwardly standing there, how she is trying to say its all fine and moment later her eyes sparkle to the point she forgot what she was talking about. Truly amazing scene
That's all it takes. 10 seconds. You just need to talk to her/him and ask them out. If they say no, at least you tried, but they may say yes, and you will never enjoy the opportunity if you didn't have the courage to let them know what you wanted. I was on a similar situation 10 years ago. I was in love with this person who I only met through the internet for a year, then we were spending our summer together. We enjoyed all the summer like friends, although I liked him and he liked me back. There were only few days left before summer ending and me having to return to my country, and I was scared of a rejection, but then I realized, you will never know if you don't try. I looked at him in the eyes and told him "I like you, I want to be more than friends with you", and he said "Same". And we kissed. Speed fast to today, we are married and have a dog, and we are happy as ever. I sometimes remember those days and how close it was to never happening. There were only like 2-3 days left before summer ended. I am so happy I found the courage and told him I liked him. I know no one cares about my life but, this scene always makes me think of that, and I just wanted to share.
She is a good actress. Not only cute, but also quite good. This scene is just so warm and hearmelting. And another one is on 9th season when they argue over the phone and Pam ends crying. It is also so moving. That is a character we relate with! So is Jim… congratulations on both actors.

This remains one of the most heartwarming scenes in all television. What a great scene.
The most beautiful thing is seeing how happy pam begins to LOOK after this episode. Her acting is remarkable imo her expression was so natural
Her smile... That's pure happiness right there
Pam’s smile is everything.
That has got to be one of the best acting scenes ever. You can literally see her eyes getting redder. It's hard to believe that she was acting!!! I love the Office!!!!
Brilliant writing. Brilliant editing. Brilliant acting. Incredible scene. Loved it.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
My whole family was into The Office and watching this live was incredible. Just a massive moment in the series.
I think I need to watch this show.
yes
Yeah, go watch it from the beginning. Don't spoil it for yourself any further!
What are you doing here then??? go watch it from the beginning (... and i promise, it's worth it!)
@@adithebest15 I watched the first two or three seasons, and while I liked it, I still much prefer Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock. It's good, but I don't get the hype.
@@AGH331 Buddy, keep it watching, its fucking amazing, the first 4 seasons are a little slow, but it turns to be amazing. I have seen it like 6 times :P
I can’t believe Pam’s smile was an act. People just can smile so genuinely like that.
I always liked the fact that the show chose to make it super obvious that Jim had this job in the bag, easy. Makes his choice to remove himself from contention and go ask Pam out all the more meaningful.
The best love story in television history in my opinion.
I can’t think of anything better 🤷🏼♂️
Episode: The Job
Season 3
Episodes 24/25

I was in the barracks with my squad and we watched this scene....you could hear a pin drop....then we all started yelling like we were banshees when Jim finally cowboyed the hell up and took his shot with Pam. CLASSIC.
I can’t get over how effectively n effortlessly she did it !!! Always blows my mind !!!
im so fucken happyyyy
True first comment
I swear, her smiling at the end, was one the best performances i ever saw; i believed that she was overwelmed by happiness realizing that is all she ever wanted finally became true and she didn't realized that and couldn't believed that was happening.
Just when she said "We never got the timing right", He got the timing right
There’s a reason why this show is still popular and still relevant after all of these years..
Yes, and scenes like this, are that reason. Best show ever!
That last part facial expression alone deserves an Emmy.
I've watched this scene a lot of times and my eyes starts to tear up exactly when pam smiles and has teary eyes
I have never rooted for an on screen romance like I did with Pam and Jim!!
Same. I once felt that happy in love.
The acting in this show, along with the writing... some of the best ever seen on TV. What an amazing show.
Makes me smile every time I watch this and see Pam's reaction to "Okay, it's a date!". YES!!!!
I remembering feeling this way. The joy is astounding.
Jenna has many acting moments where you can see how good she is. She makes it look so real without doing anything special or over the top.
I love when he opens the door and sets a date...and she just looks so happy. This two had chemistry.
Thank you for sharing this clip. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Love it!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great writing too!!
dang it... every time... right.. in... the... feels.
The title should be "Pam finally gets Jim"
Exactly.
Pam finally gets tuna
Absolutely underrated acting unreal emotion. Huge fan of the office it's an amazing love story this was perfectly done. So casual from Jim and from Pam just everything changed in that one split second, beautiful.
Pam blushing and smiling and forgetting the answer.
Find someone who blushes like that for you folks...
Im tearing up every time i see this scene. The second that Jim asks her out while akwardly standing there, how she is trying to say its all fine and moment later her eyes sparkle to the point she forgot what she was talking about. Truly amazing scene
My absolute favorite moment in a series that has endless amazing (and hilarious) moments.. that smile on Pam's face gets me every time.
One of the best tv couples of all time.
This is what you call living the performance! Kudos to Jenna!!
Just that smile made the whole world seem full of joy and love!
Beautiful.
I literally search for this scene to feel “this” again
The Great Lord Algorithm gave this to me.
Truly one of the best shows ever
She is a good actress. Not only cute, but also quite good. This scene is just so warm and hearmelting. And another one is on 9th season when they argue over the phone and Pam ends crying. It is also so moving. That is a character we relate with! So is Jim… congratulations on both actors.
Tear jerker!!!
This show was an emotional roller coaster.
This ending always makes me smile too damn much!
The best part of this is right before this happens...when Jim first sees the note from Pam including the gold medal from the Office Olympics!
Oh yes!!!!
You kinda forget their acting because Pam seemed so genuinely happy
Made me cry all over again - so precious
Always get alittle ‘awwww’ with Pam’s last line.
