Old souls care about self growth. If you need to reconnect with nature to do this then great but just because you like nature does not make you an old soul. Most old souls would not get mixed up in drugs because they are bad for your soul growth. Part of growing is not caring what others think of you and if you chose not to do drugs and your friends give you a hard time an old soul would get new friends because those you choose to hang with can hurt your growth or help it.
My dad died from a heroine overdose about a month ago. I wish he knew the power of nature.... He was such an addict, he never kept a cell phone, email address, etc. I had no contact with him... He didn't let people connect with him. Man, if only he knew.....
It's amazing how I found this video while researching addiction (I have addiction to food) and I'm actually going for a trek in just a day. I haven't trekked for 5 years and it feels like "going back home" - to nature, to mountains. And btw, I'm in love with mountains of Alberta, my dream is to go there one day.
Unfortunately Alberta is too far away from me, I live in Ukraine. But going there is in my list of things to do before I die (as well as going to Alaska) :D We have mountains in my country, Carpathian mountains. They are significantly different by looks and height, it's not as extreme as Alberta to trek there but nonetheless it was difficult to climb with ~18 kgs behind my back after all these years. But yeah, I totally get you - there are things around us that are much more exciting than the objects of our addictions.
Thank you Dax for sharing your 'WHY.' A true inspiration and a great reminder of how nature can connect us to ourselves in order to grow in this big old world :) !!
I love your honesty....I too have used Nature to REWILD.... if only this concept could be the first approach instesd of a institution based tretment program....here in Ontario it's actually unheard of....wonder why we lose people to overdose related deaths....

I think the real cure is to seek out what it was that drove you to the drugs. It could be a fear. Fear of not fitting in. If that is the case you need to cope with the idea of people not liking you because you do not use drugs. Maybe you just need to hang with a different type of friend one that does not do drugs.
Geologist you got this! I got D21 clean of opioids. Hardest thing I’ve ever been through, but you got it!! I pray you get to D30. I’ll be praying for you.
There’s too much stigma around the word relapse. It shouldn’t be a shameful thing. The road to recovery isn’t a straight freeway, it’s more like a side road with twists and turns :)
Drug addiction is the most secret battle about what only an addict can think. And the addicts are one of the most helpless poor misjudged people of the world.
I am so thankful and grateful to have you in my life. Courage is not about not being afraid. It's about being afraid but doing it anyway.
Opposite of addiction is not sobriety, opposite of addiction is connection ❤ to all spirit and life
Some of us are just old souls or souls from a diffrent place and we just fit in better in nature

It's called REPROGRAMMING of the brain in order to appreciate the SIMPLE TRUTHS. It takes FAITH & HOPE

How do you pay for insurance? All this must cost alot of money. Must be nice.
You save a LOT of money that you use to spend on your addictions of choice.
Everyone's taking that phrase "it's connection" from that British guy lol
He seems pretty self involved.
