I am a Certified Western Music Theory and Guitar (Acoustic/Plectrum/Western Classical) Teacher. Recently got interest for Indian Flute and brought a G Scale from one of the reputed makers in India. But frankly speaking we should praise Mr. Himanshu for giving such valuable knowledge Free Of Cost. We should give him good credits. I wish him All The Best !!!
@@ankitnegi1631 How are you Ankit ? Thank you for your concern. I have brought C# now and I am able to play many songs too i.e. Indian National Anthem, Ek Pyar Ka Nagma hai, etc I am more into Guitar, Piano (too) and less into Flute. So not progressing that fast I should as far as the practice is concerned.
I got my flute 6 days ago from India: an E Bass orchestral concert flute A 440Hz right handed, and have followed the clear instructions EXACTLY as he suggests. I began by just creating the sound at the soundhole with lips to flute as he shows, and focused for a good time just on that. Even 5 to 10 minutes, repeating again so the tone was solid, saturated and clear. Then after about one and a half days, I could add the fingers, slowly, one by one over time. First Sa, then Re, then Ga, then Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, and Sa'. I had great difficulties at first; my fingers simply would not go into the correct place, and they hurt...or they would move off the holes. One at a time, practiced each, then repeating. I performed 20 two minute practice sessions a day, using short sessions so I did not tire. I always started with just blowing into the soundhole, no use of fingers other than to simply hold the flute in place. In the most frustrating moments when nothing seemed to be going well, I would stop, collect myself and revert to something I could already do, or put the flute down to begin again another time. Sometimes I just put my fingers on the flute one by one, and didn't blow at all. I did exactly as he says: if he says to play a note for 10 minutes...I do that- so we connect to the beauty of the sound. After a few days, using the method in this video, I can play all the notes cleanly as he shows. Of all instruments I've played, this was the hardest to begin study of. Patience is very helpful, and knowing when to stop a session and rest. Be joyous in the small successes and give your body time to learn. As the video says, now that I can play Sa cleanly, the journey has begun in earnest. Now to lesson 2...but I still repeat lesson 1 often, so it solidifies.
Thank you for your helpful comment :) i just got a bansuri and am making sound but it is very high pitch and not pretty. I cant tell if its the flute orme. Maybe both. Flute is a small one, D
My Bansuri have just arrived! And how it is difficult for the one who have never play any instrument! But I like your lessons and I will try my best to play. Thank you! Namastê
Thank Sir for this tutorial. It was very informative and easy to comprehend. I had learnt bansuri the fipple one but lost my touch. Have not practiced for past 20 years. Now I have decided to start so I'm going to start from the basics again. I'm going to follow your techniques and tutorials. Thank you again Sir. Now you are my Guru 🤲🙏🙇♀️
This is my first lesson on Bansuri flute, ordered a small A and a long F from India, very low cost. Great advice here, lovely tone and wonderful diaphragmatic control.
Jai Gurudev! Sir Himanshu Nanda, I´m about de by my first Bansuri anda after those videos I'm sure this will be my instrument. I´m from Brasil and I appreciate a lot your culture. Once I heard a bhajan with this flute and a felt in love! So, thank you a lot for you lessons. Namaste!
Namaste sir....your videos are one of the best in the class explaining a Hindustani musical instrument to anyone in you tube. Clear , precise , easy to follow and above all very much enjoyable for serious classical music aficionado.
I am a beginner with no musical background. I am finding this video of Himanshu Nandaji very useful and informative. It is really encouraging as well. ALthough for me it's a little difficult to use flute which is 25 inches (G natural base) but I am sure to learn with such help. Thanks a lot Nandaji.
Very nice class Sir. I bought bansuri today only and this is my first day of learning.. Before watching your video I was not able to produce sound and after watching your video by following the technique I am able to produce sound. Thanks a lot🙏
Wow Sir! Its amazing when you play the flute. I cant express my feelings when i heard your "SA". It touched my heart. Just mind blowing. Your teaching style is amazing & best. I wish i could be your student. But I am from Bangladesh. But i am lucky to have found you in the you tube. Gratitude from the heart. I wish i will meet you someday & learn flute. Respect & gratitude for these amazing lessons. Namaste.
sir out of sheer interest i purchased a bansuri and started learning with your videos. i purchased a G base bansuri from punam flutes and you are my first manasikha guru. thanks for these posts and please do continue to share such videos Thanks much
Namaste dear Himanshu Nanda!!! Im so so grateful for your divine grace in this teachings, I bought a Subhash Thakur G natural 432Hz bansuri without never been introduced into the music practise and ive to say that u helped me a lot so thats why I want to share that feeling to you, cause sometimes people dont realize his wonderful task in this world! Much love for you
sir by your tutorial can we play any sort of flute for example chinese bamboo flute all of your tips will apply on every flute ?? thankyou in Advance sir
Junaid Brother , there is a big difference in chinese bamboo flute which is called "Dizi" or "xaio" and the Indian/Pakistani i mean Hindustani Bansuri . Chinese ones are with an extra hole for membrane and fingering holes are soo close to each other , but bansuri dont have any extra hole and its fingering holes are not soo close to each other . Thats why it is better to use bansuri if you want to learn bansuri .
No te rindas! Un fuerte abrazo!!! Des del corazón

Thank God that I got your videos. I wanted to learn Bansuri from quite a long time and in the first instance I got your videos Guruji🙏. I just wanted to ask while purchasing Bansuri for uninitiated like me is there a criteria as to which to purchase or like anything that we need to keep in mind? Because I don't have any idea about this. ! Please anyone.🙏
Hari om Sir. Thank you very much for uploading this video. Please upload a video for proper blowing while moving from MA to PA to DHA because many of us face problem of double sound in same
Shishir Bisen - Play PA for five minutes... Do not try to play any other notes... After that play Dha for 5 minutes... then Ni and then higher Sa... Try this it will help you...
Thanks for uploading this video. This is very helpful in getting the basics right. Please tell the size of your bansuri. I have 14 inch long bansuri. I think bit longer would be more appropriate for me as I am a beginner. Thanks, once again!
Sir, now I could blow properly and produce sound reasonably good. Sa Re Ga Ma sounds perfectly on 5th octave scale, when I go for Pa, Pa sounds at 4th octave scale, and the same continues for Dha, Ni.How to blow in a proper way such that Sargam sounds in a same octave. I'm having C natural 19in Bansuri.

Thanks for uploading this video. This is very helpful in getting the basics right.
Please tell the size of your bansuri. I have 14 inch long bansuri. I think bit longer would be more appropriate for me as I am a beginner. Thanks, once again!
+Shikha Bhardwaj - 14 Inch would be too small to begin with... You could try a G# flute... Happy Practice..
A big big thanks from Nepal. Please add more lessons.
