On this episode I decided to install a 145db Train Horn and it’s STOOPID loud … also did some repair and touchup work to the hood.
Wanted to highlight the World Map project I’ve been working on with my daughter Kaylee … we wanted to visualize where all the TwinStick Garage fans are located and have started putting in pins for the hometowns of all the folks who contributed to their local charities and received TwinStick Garage stickers in return.
Really want to see where all the fans are located so when you subscribe to the channel, please let me know where you’re located in the comments and we’ll add a pin for you.
Subscribe for notifications on future episode of this restoration project and the next #ProjectSnowman, a Kenworth W900A tribute truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. If you haven’t seen it yet, go find it on Netflix, iTunes or Amazon ... you can thank me later “This vehicle happens to be evidence…valuable evidence, that’s gonna convict a maniac, that I’ve been trying to apprehend, and have been in high speed pursuit of … for 700 miles”

I had a five horn Leslie chime for almost twenty years, I had them on several different trucks in that time, I was an owner operator. I had a custom bracket built for them, I had to punch holes in the frame aft of the sleeper on all of the trucks they were on, they were a lot heavier than the horns you have. The bracket installed from the inside of the frame and pointed the horns at the ground. Don't mount them in a tight place.

I have been watching this project since the "first season" when you found her. I'll have to admit that I had some doubts about this project back then, but you got her road legal little by little. Waiting impatiently for future updates on the Pete and the KW. Smokey and the Bandit was actually the beginning for my big rig madness. Cheers!

When I put air horns on my Pete, I just hooked em up through the trailer brake (trolley valve) lever on the steering column. Yep aim them down so they rattle the pavement under ya! They didn't have no fancy chrome valve like that back in my time. Lol. You should have my address from the sticker email I gave ya.
Edit: drill a small hole at the end of the hood crack so it won't continue on.

Well, they sounded pretty cool! I didn’t hear them here in Ohio, so I can only imagine that your camera just doesn’t handle good train horns! Hehehe! Good job. I know about the distractions, too. It happens all the time! I’m seeing more drivers install them behind the cab/sleeper, from a bracket/cross member that keeps them slightly above the frame. They do sound good like that. Keep enjoying the ride!

Kirkland WA. (Home of the first Costco). Have two toy trucks. ‘85 359 Pete day cab (Tonka Yellow) and ‘58 351 Pete (Rat Rod lowered). Both 3406B engines. Same train horn on 359 Pete but only used once. Afraid it might cause road rage with someone Brake checking me. Enjoy your two year adventure. I waited till the kids were out of the house before I became a wanna be trucker. My first truck was a 1986 359 day cab with 400 BC3. Lowered it and drove it to work every day for a few years and then buddy relieved me of it. Turned around and bought one ‘85 Pete tall rubber that was pretty much maintained all it life so I can take more time driving and less time tinkering on it. I can live vicariously through you now. I am 59 and almost a grandpa next month so I will have a little one in my sandbox soon to play with my yellow tonka truck.

Somebody said the factory air valve where I pull to release air to horn is messed up. So I have to figure out how to delete that and go with what you have. Thanks for the info on being able to run the line with out electric solenoid. Any more advice would be appreciated. Again...THANKS!!!! 🙏🏽

I also want to say that I just love this series, it's the most in-depth one i've seen yet, and i first came across it when there were 28 episodes, so I've been here a while. Also, I love model cars, and here on youtube there is a "group build" for semi truck kits going on at the moment, and the truck i'm building is a fixer-upper pete 359, inspired by you. So thanks for the entertainment, and keep on truckin'.
