W126 Ignition Timing Off Car Wont Start Runs Rough

If you had your trans replaced and the rear main seal done on your 86-91 M116 or M117 powered Mercedes and the car won't start? Runs rough? Before you go throwing dozens of expensive parts at your car, be sure to check the flex plate to ring gear orientation! Usually these aren't dissembled to do any work, but every so often someone will unfasten a few too many screws.

thank you very much for this great video. I come from Germany and I completely overhauled my W 126 with M 117 engine over a period of several months, and the gearbox was also removed. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to how the flex plate was installed and then reinstalled it incorrectly. I've been desperately looking for a solution to my very poor engine running for a few days now and came across this video by accident. I am so infinitely happy that I can hardly express it, because I would never have guessed that it could be because of this part. I can only say thank you very much. You have made me very happy.

Hi, I got a SL 450 R107 with the M117 Engine. And I believe The Sparkplugs are set up Wrong.. (Sorry my english is bad) so where is Cylinder 1? because on my car Cylinder 1 is on the driver side in the front and I believe that Cylinder 1 should be on the right Side of the car in the front... it runs very very rough and somebody renew the whole ignitin system and I believe they connected it wrong thank you in advance for your answer.
