    The division of cacti into “desert” cacti and “jungle” cacti is overly simplistic. Cacti occupy pretty much the entirety of the Americas, including Patagonia and Canada. It’s way more complex than just desert vs jungle. You can find cacti surrounded by ice sheets and covered in snow. Hell, you can find prickly pears in New England.
    But to answer your question, yes these are bloom buds. If you put your cactus in direct sunlight (after acclimating it first otherwise it will get sunburn) it will bloom profusely, develop thicker spines, and turn reddish brown. The yellow parts will turn pinkish red. The flowers will only fully open in good lighting conditions and if it’s warm enough.

    It’s hilarious when you start to make excited ideas such as adding a moss pole to the propagated mystery philodendron and then the 2nd thought process you go through and talking yourself back out of it. I’m just the same and my husband dreads what he may find next when comes to my house plants.

    For your plant that looks similar to the micans...Camposportoanum is a large velvet leaf variety of philodendron whose leaves start out pink with light green veins and slowly mature into a deep dark green with a velvety texture in a large bunny ears form.

    Yes ziploc baggies are great. My orbifolio had thrips too that blew through my monsteras. I cut all leaves off and put it in xl ziploc and the humidity has helped it grow beautiful new leaves and has kept any pests away. By the end of this summer it should be back to its size.

    I am pretty sure variegated philodendron is Florida beauty, Florida ghost comes out with almost white, minty leaves and later turns into green or stay minty.
    And for the „micans“ it’s just a juvenile melano 🤷‍♂️

    • @keekers8785
      @keekers8785 7 місяців тому

      No, micans is actually just a cultivar of Philodendron hederaceum! If the plant were allowed to grow past the juvenile leaves, the fuzziness goes away on the mature leaves!

    • @uroskon
      @uroskon 6 місяців тому

      @@keekers8785 you did not understand what I was saying…I was referring to her saying it could be the micans … so for that plant referring her as a micans I’ve said my it’s a juvenile form of melano

    I am having myself an absolutely lovely planty weekend 🥰 Yesterday I acquired an Alocasia Tiny Dancer which I having been eyeing for some time. I have noticed the first root on a tiny tradescantia prop that broke off while repotting, I have made a "nursery pot" from the bottom of a soda bottle which fit perfectly into a cute but short and wide planter 🤓 all of this good planty energy has then given me the motivation to do some plant related house chores that I have been putting off for weeks (like tidying my pot/soil storage) 😁

    I just purchased some small Gymnocalycium, two for myself and two for my daughter. They are beautiful! I can’t wait to see them grow and bloom. If you find out some tips and tricks about them please do a video!
    I have a Hoya AH 074…the leaves will splash up with bright light. Your Sarawack is beautiful! I may get that one next! I just ordered a wish list Hoya! I purchased two Hoya Gunung Gading! I should receive them mid week next week. Each have 3 leaves, are sun stressed!!
    A friend of mine is successful in growing her begonias in a coco coir, chunky perlite soil mix…her attempt to grow it in pon was a failure. Maybe the roots are a bit delicate for the pon? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am not very familiar with Begonias.

    Excitement, hearing you say another plant swap is coming up!!!! Calatheas are pest magnets. I have two Orbifolias. One in soil, one in Leca. The one in soil has just come back inside, after a summer holiday outdoors. It looks amazingly big and healthy. I did a heavy water spray on the leaves before bringing it indoors. I recently acquired a Calathea - Royal Standard and Calathea - Sunshine. Both have been transferred to Leca.

I've been checking mine everyday cos my maranta collection is currently being treated for thrip & are in isolation😫🥺 But happy that although we're in autumn now, my collection is generally still giving me new growth ( thanks to our beautiful Sydney climate) and I'm such a happy little vegemite 😉😆 Really enjoyed your video and you've motivated me to deal with my prop box as well 🤗🥰

    I went to a Hoya shop and the owner told me if you want your Hoya to grow bushy/full you have to trick it and let the leaves grow down past the roots by letting it spill over the pot. Most people use wire to hoist it up but that makes it grow slower.

    Not sure if you know this, but Hoya macrophylla has been reclassified under the latifolia umbrella. Sooo, it’s Hoya latifolia FKA macrophylla (formerly known as). That way you can preserve how it’s different from your other Hoya latifolia from Sarawak. To be proper, that one is written as I just did, or as Hoya latifolia (Sarawak). Anything in parentheses is a descriptor and not part of the scientific name. It’s been a bit since I’ve seen one of your videos and wow…your collection is even more massive!! You do a wonderful job displaying them.

    Hello there peps! I have an Aglonema that has white stems, I think is an Aglaonema nitidum, but I'm not quite sure. The think is, I had to cut one stem off (it came with two when I bought it) cuz it got damaged by my clumsy fingers while watering, and have it currently rooting on water (2 weeks ago). It has grown some beautiful roots 2 inches long aprox and my question is, when would it be a good time to plant it back on soil? (I want to do this bc I want the plant to look bushier). And, in case I decide to keep it growing apart from the "main" plant, do you recommend semi-hydro or should I leave in full water? I'll appreciate any guidance! Thanks in advance!

    I also have a gymnocalycium, and it does the same thing where the variegated side grows bigger faster. The conclusion I came to is that the green side photosynthesizes more and that causes transpiration, which makes the green side lose their water quicker. Thus growing fatter slower.

    I got one that was on my "buy" list: Schismatoglottis wallichii. I killed my first from inconsistent watering it, I believe. It likes the substrate to be moist, and I would come home and it'd be completely wilted even though I had watered in the last 2 or 3 days. It'd perk right up, but I think it happened one too many times. I'm growing the new one in a mix of 2/3 PON 1/3 LECA to see if this way I can better keep up with its drinking habits.

    I’m not a super expert, but for my begonia I’d definitely say soil.. semi moist (not soaking wet) soil but it cannnnn definitely dry out once strong and established.. it likes some humidity once it’s really established.. I was misting one of mine for a while but stopped.. and the stems are SO DELICATE at times.. they just get damaged and the leaf dies so easily.. more so when it’s young, when they get too wet, and when you’re fussing over it. Let it be.. kind of ignore it lol also a lot of them have sort of translucent leaves.. looks so special in the light.. but I think this is how it passes light to lower leaves.. sorta like how monstera allows light to pass through its fenestrations..

    The anthurium I think has papi + luxurians + magnificum. Its leaf shape resembles magnificum, the colour looks like a papi with a little blue from luxurians. That would be my guess, (luxurians x magnificum) x papi. Seeing the petiole would help, because luxurians have rigid square petioles and magnificum has slightly square petioles.
