Love your channel Claire!! You are one of the most genuine plant channel creators I’ve watched, always stayed true to who you are and have even opened up more over the years. Your passion for plants fueled mine and I’ve built up a nice collection now, I hope that someday, I will be able to replicate the level of care and commitment even to dying plants that you have!! Send you lots of love from across the pond!
I love this type of video! Having you doing some plant care in one tab and doing some less joyfull organizing in a second tab next to it, is jsut the perfect amount of input to keep the balance between focus and relaxing. I really like the way you talk with the audience. It feels a bit like hanging out with a friend while getting each their work done. The sidetracking with all the tasks back and forth with that kinda flow is very relatable. That is just like I do my plant care too 😄
Hey Claire I want to share this with you. My Alocasia Cuprea was dying back. I decided to put a leaf in water to enjoy it's beauty a little longer. It was in water for a month+. One day I decided to check it. I pulled it out, it had roots but to my surprise a new little leaf was just forming! First I put it in stratum but that didn't feel quite right so it is now in spagnum. The new stem is about 4 inches tall and the leaf is maybe two and a half +! It is so exciting! Wish I could show you pictures of it 😊
I am from the US and have been to Malvern twice! I actually got engaged there with the priory in the background of the pictures! I have never heard of anyone else ever talking about it! Malvern is literally one of my favorite places on earth! So cool!!
I've been using semi hydro for years but with experience comes wisdom and I have come to realise that it's ok to have both soil and semi hydro as they both have different benefits, some plants just don't do as well in semi, and after 100 plants in semi hydro, flushing or giving them ph balanced nutrient solution every watering becomes quite a faff...
Thank you so much for all you do, Claire (& Joli)! I can't imagine trying to do my plant chores, and general housework, without your videos! I have so much trouble getting motivated and you help me so much, like doing chores alongside a friend. Thank you and much love ❤
When you said that spending time with planty people and talking planty things reignited your “mojo” I felt that! Listening to your chores videos does this for me. Although you do not grow orchids you encourage me to do what need to be done whilst listening to your voice ❤️ Thanks Clare 🌸🌸 btw: I too have “shiny objects syndrome” while doing plant care 😂
I love listening to you as I get chores done. I have probably said this before and I'll probably say it again, it's like having a friend in the house as I do my own chores ❤❤ Thank you for sharing
Thanks Claire , your love for plants is contagious! I’m not doing very well with planting in pon, maybe you need a bit more experience to be able to use it. I might try again in the future. X ❤️🌱🪴❤️
I don't know if this might help but I'll share in case... I was having trouble with Pon until I started putting plants in water first. I let them grow roots that were used to water (often called water roots - but they're all just roots.) When the new roots were over an inch long and/or have secondary roots, then I moved them to Pon and continue to enjoy the ease of self-watering and far fewer fungus gnats! 💚 Wish me luck as I'm doing this process with a good sized Monstera at the moment!
I loved this video was really easy for me to put on when I’m watering! And great length that I can leave on whole time rather than having to find another video while I finish !
I love the updates on Ross’s plants! It’s cute that you converted him! 💞 Would love to see more of him! And I love pink plants too!💖 Ross should check out Agleonema’s lots of pinks!
Love your videos. Thx for all the plant knowledge you share with us. I was resently told by a friend, a biologist, that spagnum moss comes from the wet lands, and when kept there, it stores a lot of CO2 - I guess in many ways, it has some of the same envioremental effects, as the rain forest. Just to share, that we all should be mindfull, with the moss. Lots of plant love, from Denmark
This has been THE MOST relatable video! I’m literally doing the exact same thing (planty chores) with this video playing in the background and I have identical chaotic energy around multi tasking. I’m doing 50 things at once like a mad woman as I keep seeing yet another thing in need of my immediate attention. Just endless side quests 😬🤦🏻♀️
24:41 just a little opinion that people have on layering lecas for pots (or a jar in this case) without drainage hole: it is not recommended since you can get mucky sludgy water residues mold and bacteria that gets trapped under a layer of soil.. You can also use leca in soil to add aeration as you would perlite!
Nowadays I put almost everything in leca/ pon just because I don't have to dilute my fertilizer with different dosages/ use different fertilizer. And because I keep almost everything in clear cups/ glass which makes water level monitoring easy. It's also cleaner than soil, picking up a few pieces of leca instead of getting the vacuum cleaner, when I inevitably knock over a plant. Semi Hydro has improved my plant care so much! And a big game changer for me was learning to make my own macramee hangers. They are quick to make after a bit of practice and you can obviously customize them to your needs and it's cheap! Made myself a 3 tiered one for my ferns and a 4 tiered one for my small plants! They also make amazing gifts!
I can relate so much with what you said about your shop! Fellow ADHD’er here. I do craft shows and crochet and sew. I started an Etsy during lockdown since shows weren’t happening and I was the same about packing orders. Took less than 5 minutes but it was so tedious I would procrastinate to the last minute 😂 I put mine on vacation mode which was supposed to be temporary and that was over a year ago. But I think I’ve decided to just focus on craft shows instead.
Thank you so much for keeping me company as I cared for the 40-some plants my app thought needed attention and some others who needed a bit of TLC. I adore these videos as I spend a lot of time walking my plants back and forth to my kitchen sink. I drain them for longer than you do and prop them at an angle to ensure I'm not leaving too much moisture in the pot. Thank the gods for clear nursery pots, Pon, chunky soil, and YOU! 💚 P.S. I'm thrilled that you're still feeling good after the plant show. Usually, I would need a few days to recover especially if I presented! P.P.S. Hope you're having a blast at Comic-Con! I'd love to see your costumes and I know I'm not alone...
Indoor house planting can be a little lonely so going out and about does weather the mind well, a bit like air flow, movement is life and does keep everything a little rejuvenated
Hi Claire!! I love these videos soo much! I have just grown my begonias in water now. They all did the same yours is. Put it in water and grows like crazy soooo I just kept her there. I don’t know what it is with them and me but if I put them in anything other than just water they rapidly decline 😂 wishing you well! Thanks for giving me something to watch while I couch surf this Saturday. Happy growing from FL! 🌱
Hello Claire from Puerto Rico!!! Lol!!! You sound like me. Im constantly changing my plants and wondering how I can get it better. 🙋🏼♀️🪴🌿 That plant is used here as a herb…wild oregano.
My Agleonema tigress and jubilee are both growing back from a pile of dirt! They both got rot, so I took some cuttings to prop in water, let the dirt dry out, and then started watering it again! I also chopped the long sections in half! Yours should bounce back just fine! ❤❤
Maybe you answered it already in another video, but why don't you install a grow-light in your bathroom? This way you could use your bathroom as a rehab / quarantine zone, without risking your plants to be forgotten 😉 and on top you have some green in there to enjoy. Love your content, i could listen to you all day 🥰 Greetings from Germany ❤
I had a big lovely dog named Shasta. She was the best dog ever but my husband called her a “garbage scow” cuz she could and did eat absolutely anything, usually in large quantities and rarely batted an eye. Joli must have a similar cast iron stomach and I think that’s a good thing! I’d have gone for the hot cheese too Joli!
🇦🇺 hi Claire, can you please show how you cut your peperomia hope leaf? Horizontal or vertical? Thank you. I can't believe the garbos didn't take your rug 😯 I do like your new outdoor rug, your balcony looks like a lovely space to enjoy warmer weather now
Hi! Quick question unrelated to this video. My euphorbia got root rot along the bottom of one stem. I pulled the rotten piece out and cut off the piece that was still healthy but I was wondering how I proceed from there? I've watched a ton of your videos so I know to let it callus. But for how long? And then what do I do with it once it's callused? Thanks so much! Love your channel
Claire Steve's Leaves in USA has Begonia Sinbad and many many others. Not sure if they ship out of USA? It's beautiful. Checkout, begonia Mullanobulata! It's a weird beauty!
Hi Claire I love watching your videos. You have been using semi hydro so much lately what do you feed/fertilize them with and is it available in the US?
I have aphids in my home for the 1st time too, weirdly, on my krimson princess too aswell as my SOP. I noticed them recently in a garden centre too which is where I think they came from initially 🤷♀
Haha oh, the cheese! Luckily, dogs don't have as many taste as we do so they usually don't feel the spiciness. And they also don't have as sensitive stomachs as we do! I loved this form of content 🌱
If I had to pick one product to keep for plants? It would definitely have to be a fertilizer. All plants need food!!! I am currently using a product by Thrive - For all plants & ferns. You can always keep pest at bay by using a strong spray of water on leaves or putting them outdoors.
Re your Sarawak; did you have the tip of the tendril facing up after trellising it? If the tip is pointing down the whole tendril will die off. Love this style of video by the way, I keep pausing it while doing my own plants so I won't miss any of it!
My purple passion looked perfect in the shop and the next day at home it was covered in aphids. It was next to a window but none of my other plants got them. It’s taken me ages to get rid of them if I even have?
Claire, try a moisturizer with adapalene, any brand really. Use as directed to help with acne. I say that with my whole chest, and with love of course. ☺️😅
I've been having a lot of skin problems lately and I can't understand why! Since it's occasional, I've noticed that several people have the same problem.
Hello Claire from Puerto Rico!! I would probably pick PON as a one product…lol!!! My Amidrium Silver is on a moss pole and so far so good. It is thriving and beautiful! 🙋🏼♀️🪴🌿
Hey Claire, fellow neurospicy planty person here! I’d love to see a video about your ADHD and the way it affects you/helps you with plant care. I see snippets of it through your videos but I would love an in-depth video if it’s not too invasive? ❤
Why don't you tell us a bit more about the Paraiso verde on the lowboard? Mine is reverting to green and I can't get the varigation back. However, I like its leaves and keep it anyway. by the way, when you pulled the tub over the parquet, my hair stood up. Greetings from "never pull a tub over the parquet" Germany :)
I too have had the tigress for about 5yrs and mine looks exactly like yours. It was full when purchased, lost some leaves along the years. Between last year and this one it looks sad. I know I underwater it before, then over watered it and it survived and grew a baby. Now🤷🏽♀️?!

I used this video to spur me on to do plant care I had been putting off. Its just like having a calming friend working with you. Thank you Claire!
Clear plastic pots have been the most helpful thing I've done

Yes! I need more info on the clay !

I always do a little happy dance to those last 4 beats of your intro "buh buh buh BUH"
glad it's not just me lol
18:08 Would you do a video about that, please? I’m struggling with my Orbifolia, and I love that plant.
youve been encouraging me to learn to drive claire! (ive also been driving to garden centres lol)
Indoor house planting can be a little lonely so going out and about does weather the mind well, a bit like air flow, movement is life and does keep everything a little rejuvenated
i loved this kind of video. i got so much stuff done 😂
I loved this video Claire ❤
I always pot leca at the bottom with soil/substrate on top if there is no drainage hole :)

I also find my snake plants thrive in more light! They grow so much quicker and fuller!
If you’ve ever watched @ unplantparenthood on YT, she plants in layered substrates with no drainage. It seems to work just fine.
It’s good to see that the coleus cuttings are doing alright. But they definitely deserve a bit of soil 😂😂 oh and it tastes great on a pizza
You should look into getting a Pink Princess Symphony Caladium. They are stunning

Btw, begonia roots are hair fine. I don't water mine until the pot is lite weight.
Love your videos!!
Hi Claire, how did you manage to make the Philodendron Dean Mcdowell go round and back? I would love to know as I am in the same situation!
Loved this!! ❤

If you get some Petrie dishes breeding your predatory mites so you always have them is super easy
Love your content,
that looks like a begonia adorada to me!
odorata maybe?? omg i have one and it came with a little sign with the name. it was called a sweet begonia...i think odorata!
If I had to pick only one thing - fern fibre ❤ I use it all the time and it's been a game changer
Do you ever just put your plants in the shower, or use the kitchen sprayer? Do you think wiping them down works better than spraying them down?
Hey Claire, fellow neurospicy planty person here! I’d love to see a video about your ADHD and the way it affects you/helps you with plant care. I see snippets of it through your videos but I would love an in-depth video if it’s not too invasive? ❤

any plant with mould or fungus on the top....bottom water its an absolute lifesaver
Where did you get your beautiful manjula pothos please? I'm on the hunt for one 😊
I have always disliked begonia.. I now have a maculata, which I love, and I bought a dark eyes today! 😆
I too have had the tigress for about 5yrs and mine looks exactly like yours. It was full when purchased, lost some leaves along the years. Between last year and this one it looks sad. I know I underwater it before, then over watered it and it survived and grew a baby. Now🤷🏽♀️?!
I thought “fertilizer, No question!”😁
Have you seen a Begonia Escargot? I think it might be right up your alley, it's beautiful and silvery. For some reason it's crazy rare, at least where I'm at. :(
Nice dear ❤
Hi there I pray for you god bless you x
I think it's begonia semperflorens. It must bloom a lot. I'm pretty sure, that I have the same one but it doesn't bloom (actually and sadly all my begonias don't bloom)
If I could only pick one plant care product it would be a grow light; my plants would not grow indoors without light.
I’m not sure if you consume dairy products or not but cheese makes my face breakout like that when I’ve indulged too much. I do have lactose intolerance and some things bother me while others cause no issues.
There's got to be a way to deal with electric cords. I feel we all some ideas
I got into plants to decorate my husband"s hospital room , kept it up after he was released. Now he is gone , I'm having a hard time getting back into them any advice Thank you p.s. married 32 years
