Just reframe the window openings. It's easy. I'm a retired carpenter. We all make mistakes and we fix them.

@@frontierpatriot You can do it. Cut the headers out and reuse them. If you haven't sheeted the roof yet you aren't dealing with a lot of weight. It's a simple job now, one you'll be kicking yourself about later if you don't do it.

Yes I agree. My husband redid the windows of a house that we bought. The windows were too small not letting enough light in and he made them bigger and no problem at all. I'm glad you got lots of replies and information from carpenters. You can fix it! Justine will have bigger closets! 🤣

@@frontierpatriot I'm with everyone else about moving the windows now, BUT... if you decide not to, what about putting your closets on the interior walls? One on each side of the door and it will look like you've got thick walls.

I made the mistake of planting chocolate mint in my garden. It takes over everything! I tore it all up and threw it in a hole we’re trying to fill. It’s now a chocolate mint garden! It’s funny when my sheep walk through it you can smell it in the whole yard. It’s also good dried in banana bread.

I live in Colorado where the Celestial Seasonings tea factory is and they have a mint room that you have to be over 12 years old to enter. They keep it closed with a heavy metal door and only open it for tours for a 10 seconds for the guests to be “hit” with the wall of MINT!!! It burns your eyes and nose it’s so strong! They had to build a room with metal walls to store the mint in because neighbors for miles around were complaining it was so strong. Me thinks Ron would love a tour there!! 😉

Hey Ron, you mentioned your new house's windows are too close. While it is still in the framing stage, it will be easy enough to move/change them. It will be much cheaper and less time consuming than building wardrobes. Just a thought.

When my grandchildren were little I made green pancakes for St. Patrick’s Day one year. They liked it them so much we would make them in many colors red, orange, blue, we even made purple.
When I traveled to see the grands that lived out of state they would ask their Mom if I would make them when I came to see them.
    Fond memories.

Roasted root veg (beets, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, turnips) is food of the gods, and I've mashed leftovers into something that's a cross between a muffin top and a pancake (more flour for stiffer dough, more modern w baking powder, but still griddled). Leave out the nutmeg and brandy (and the jam!) and serve next to a pot roast with plain or herbed butter. They're amazing!

Totally up for watching yall grow everything yourselves. I do have a weathered gardener friend piece of advice: sequester your mint. Put it in a barrel or something that can contain it because it will consume your whole plot if it has the chance. They put down runners and will make hundreds of plants before you realize.

It was very normal to colour things with vegetables. Beats for red, spinach for green and so on. Yes it made food taste a little strange.
After about 1860 did man made dyes come out. However they were expensive and the middle class and poor used vegetables for almost another 60 years. In fact a lot of dyes in Canada are natural instead of synthetic. It's an FDA thing.
Cheers from the pacific northwest. Canada side.

I saw on some "smaller/tiny" house show where the people built their wardrobe/closet as their headboard. So the back wall of the closet was their headboard and the closet was basically around the corner. The side where the closet opened was a small dressing room. The closet was longer than the width of the bed. I would say the wall was probably about 8 feet wide--the bed 5 feet wide--right in the middle--so there was room on each side of the bed for a nightstand too. And then by walking around the corner from the bed, you would be in the changing area/closet. The room was about 10' or 11' wide I think.

I can’t even use my late husband as an excuse. He died 6 years ago. But honestly since he died, I don’t cook anymore…..So sorry about the mistake on the house plans…..you’ll figure something out. I think if you want the pancakes more pink and less red you need less beets and more cream.
Also to thicken then you should probably add more flour. It’s not easy to know how much to add when all they tell you is “two spoonfuls”
This is the kind of meal that you don’t really like or hate, I think you would consider it a novelty. They’re fun to make simply because they’re pink but you wouldn’t exactly crave it. Fun to watch though!
