I was just pondering which of these two boards to buy this morning..............your video was timely. I will be sticking with the Seaside. Thanks, this is the confirmation I was chasing.
Well done man. I was really able to see what you were talking about. Very helpful. • Maybe you could do a similar video but for Dan Mann instead of Machado. (No Brainer vs Twice Baked) • Or a Machado vs Mann match up! ....... (No Brainer vs Glazer) & (Seaside vs Twice Baked) I feel like those fill similar niches.
I moved to North Alabama and surf Gulf Shores every rare occasion there are waves. I own a seaside and it rips with waves anywhere from 2ft-8ft and even on vert sections. I use a 5.2 26.5L standing at 5.9 and 150lb. I am going to copy paste what the shaper at firewire told me before I ordered the board and asked him for advice so you get some kind of reference. "Hello, Thank you for reaching out. Stoked to hear you are after the Seaside model, this board works insane! The seaside will work best at the same volume as your everyday shortboard volume. With that said I think the 5'2 would be the right call for you. You don't want to bump up to much in this board (5'3) as the board carries the width and thickness through the nose. If you are jumping up to much more then your everyday board it can tend to feel a little boaty and sometimes catch to much rail coming of the top."
You boys should do a progression video if you have any footage of yourselves being a beginner, through intermediate and advanced! Regardless you boys influenced me to start surfing, first lesson is next week - keep up the mad work lads
Hey mate, big fan of the board reviews. Over the last couple of years I've progressed from beginner to intermediate with the help of your channel. I'm looking to progress from my fish to something with more performance that I'll still be able to get waves with. As such, would you consider a video comparing the Firewire Dominator 2.0 vs JS Bullseye? They both seem pretty similar and more forgiving to intermediate surfers. Would be interesting to see what you think!
I have a question i just recently got the fish beard but i am wondering what is the wave high for that certain surfboard the board is 5’6 with a volume around 26.4 i am having trouble with catching wave and I don’t really what i am doing wrong. the wave that i surf is about 2 to 3 ft heigh and still can’t catch the wave ? Do you have any tips
I was tossing up between these boards and I watched your other vid about how you loved the seaside. You have completely sold me! I’m torn between the 5’2 and the 5’3 I’m 6’1” and 74kg and most my boards sit around 5’9/5’10 27.5-28.5L but I thought it might be worth going the 5’2 because the board is so condensed. Thoughts? ((I’m a strong intermediate surfer).
So the seaside is a great board, definitely go down but not too far down in your liter range. I HAD the 6’0 which was around 45L, now I’m 6’3 at 195 lbs intermediate surfer, I personally didn’t like the seaside in that size. My range is anywhere from 35L in good waves to 41L in weak waves, I found that the seaside was way too boaty for my liking, honestly it felt great and took off in the waist to head high range, but I didn’t find it to be a solid groveler in anything below waist high. If I get another seaside, I’ll buy it in the 5’11 size. Hope that helps.
@@ninoaniceto you’re correct, however the biggest concern with more volume is the lack of maneuverability. Sure you can get into any wave, but you sacrifice performance, it’s really a personal preference. I like to be in between.
I have a 5’6 Evo and same size Seaside. Stick to the same dims. Also used it with Keels ( Sea Shepherds) during fat tiny days. I’ve pushed the Seaside on head high waves and it can handle bigger days. Surfed it at Blacks. It’s the best all a rounder board. Glazer disappointed me because it should be longer and thinner for those really good days. Head + days
Iv been looking into a more higher preformace board. Currently I’m riding a 6’6 pod mod at 47.6 liters I got it when I was around 210 lbs now I’m 190lbs and I want to get a smaller board I was looking into the glazer, and the lost puddle jumper. I surf typical central Florida waves. The volume calculator on fire wires website says I should be surfing 36 liters.what would you recommend?
I think the seaside is a better board in junky and weak smaller waves. 47 to 36 litres is a substantial drop in volume, you could always meet somewhere in the middle around 40? It is hard to say as there are many factors that contribute to this.
Would be good to see you review more than the Machado line (Go Fish - Seaside - Glazer) There are so many small wave grovellers on the market and you seem to focus so much of your analysis on the Seaside as the centre of your universe
Im a 38, talented(little experience with board sports) and going to start surfing. ??????Can I start off with a 7’7” or should I get a longer one??????? I live in Southern California and there are really small waves right now
i have both boards in 5'8'' @ 35 liters. seaside is good for high tide fat waves with slope -- seaside has more flow for sure. glazer good for better shaped waves and geared for more up and down on the face.

Sounds like the seaside would be better here in my part of south Florida. Thanks for another vid Ry. I always look forward to them.
I’m in Central Florida, New Smyrna Beach area... the seaside would be the best choice.

Great suggestion and thanks for your support!
do you think you could ride the seaside in 0-2 foot waves?
Yep for sure
excellent video. More reviews! please share what fins your ride.
Thanks for the feedback, I'm using FCS 2, Machado quads for the Seaside and FCS 2 Jullian Wilson fins in the Glazer
@@HowtoRip thank you!
Hi. Thanks for this comparison. What’s your weight and height?
5'7 and 75kg

It may be not buoyant enough for you and too short? I have not surfed the fish beard, so I can't really comment

Feather weight volume at 26L. Punchy waves are a gift around most spots. How much do you weigh? Thx
75kg
@@HowtoRip Thanks! And thanks for putting in the time to make such helpful videos.
Just about to go to bed then saw this!! Guess I gotta stay up:)
Haha thanks ToxicRooster!
I have a size dilemma, my board goes from 32 to 34 lts so i don't know if buying the 5'6 or the 5'7
Torn between the two sizes, I’ve got a 5’6 evo. Have set my eyes on the seaside!! Have you tried it as a twin?
No Michael. How does the evo go?

@@HowtoRip thanks for the reply and yea I might try to stick around 38 to 40. I was looking for a board for when it gets a little bigger in Florida
Just sold me on the Seaside.... but my local surf shops and online are all Sold Out!! 😆
You need to order directly from Firewire and they will shape it for you and send it over in about 1 month from the time you contact them.
iiLeeDz Oh cool! Thanks for the info.
Yes very popular, I had to wait months for mine
@@HowtoRip I recently ordered another one and got a 10-13 week build time :( But I know it will be worth the wait.
Review the superbrand tazer
Hopefully Adrian!
Nice video. I think the No Brainer might be a better option in junk waves than Glazer, it also handles well when things get more serious. 🤙
Good point Glenn, thanks for the feedback
God bless🙏🏼🙏🏼
Stay psyched and stay safe🤙🏼
210 pounds and 6/1 what litrage would you recommend cheers
So many variables so I can't say Quinny. I would email the shaper directly.
Go with 5’10 seaside which is 39L. You should be In the 38-44L range. The seaside has low rocker so you can go less liters.
@@bellybouncing yes i went with 41.7 and 45 with the seaside and beyond cheers
Can you do one vid on the dominator ?
Maybe UO!

Will see how we go Chad, the Glazer is also close to the centre.
If you could only have one board for 1-4ft, which one would you pick out of the two. I have this dilemma right now.
Seaside
Neither, twice baked by FireWire
Synth wave + surfing 🤙🏼
You should do “which is better for small waves lost puddle jumper or seaside
Great idea Dan
@@HowtoRip I agree this would be real good
How much do you weigh and how tall are you?
75kg 175cm
seaside and beyond next???
Hope so!
What if you want to learn to surf but have no beaches to go to?
Makes it hard Mimi. You could practice paddling a surfboard, duck diving and surf skating
Hello bro! I am 184cm and around 82kg. Beginner/Intermediate (more towards intermediate). what size would you recommend from the Seaside?
5'8 or 5'9. I'm 78-79kg and ride a 5'7 almost exclusively. Get one that has a little more volume than your go to shortboard.
Hey Jimbo, what are the dimensions of the board you are riding?
@@HowtoRip Hello bro! The current one is 5.10x20x2 9/16 that is 32.3L but it is small a bit.

the best surfboard is that you have for surf
I'd rather support literally any local shaper before buying another Firewire.
