Suggestions for new videos 1. Do a comprehensive analysis of fin types, combinations, sizes, pro and cons and the general science behind them. 2. I dare you to do a video on potential surf locations in SA :-)
great video! what i miss in all the surfing tutorial videos - and also all surf videos for that matter - are some core surf techniques that are hightly underrated but are a must know: basic getting out there, whats the inside and its advantages (quicker waves, better for learning tircks), how to protect yourself when going over the falls, how to get out of a wave after ridding, paddling to get in a wave, paddle to get out and its differences. how read the waves, the timing, the sets...tricks to untangle a leash, proper paddling posture, board positioning under the body (sometimes we must center differently when paddling out and paddling to catch wave...) pretty much this basic stuff, i guess would very nice for beginners and intermediate surfers.
*Video idea:* Terminology is often something that mystifies people in the beginning or when they start doing something new like surfing and being armed with a little knowledge and understanding about it can go a long way in peoples confidence when trying to do something new. Perhaps a video that goes over all (or at least the stuff a beginner would need) the terminology in surfing such as words describing the waves (eg. "Fat", "Section"), maneuvers, etc etc. Not sure if this channel already has a video like that, but just thought I'd throw this one in the hat 🤙🏼
wonderful video as always, thanks guys!, is it possible to see in a video an explanation of the pressure exerted by the toes/ankles in the inner or outside rail on different maneuvers?
Can y'all do a video on how to surf Shipstern Bluff? I just started surfing a week ago and I have a Costco Wavestorm, I think I'm basically ready at this point though!
G'day guys, since surfing is banned where I am down at Cape Woolamai, can you do a video on some exercises you can do at home to help with flexibility when surfing?
Great video mate. You are surfing that board really nice. That's a relatively small board for you size (especially for fish/ small wave board). You make it work great and the video explains it really well how manage this. Do you like to ride higher volume boards too? A video on mixing up volumes for the more advanced surfer could be interesting, I mix it up alot.... cheers from the UK
@@HowtoRip I can vary volumes up to maybe 8 litres. Sometimes I increase volume when I know il be riding a left (my backhand) for more flow. Frontside pumping you get more instant speed. I find extra volume really helps backside linking turns. I will increase volume to get into heavier waves early. I like the feeling of displacing more water on a bigger board and drawing out turns more. Il go to my lower volume to mix things up and try more progressive turns all the time too. I think there is quite alot to be said about board design and how you match your own approach and style accordingly. I think your video does explain that well too at the start.
You talk about the seaside but you show pic of go fish twin.. A beet confusing those who don't know both of them. I have also the 5'2 seaside. Definitely quiver killer small medium mushi wave. Thanks for the video
True, but the footage of the go fish still shows a similar outline of boards that go well in small waves. The video isn't about the seaside anyway, just saying that style of board works for me and others in smaller waves. Thanks for the feedback Oshri!

@@HowtoRip Cool, thxxxx dude...
I live on the gulf of mexico so every wave is a small wave so this really helps.
Glad it helped Lucas!
felt this lol - glad to see another gulf coast surfer out here
I usually use my 5'8 twin fin in times of small waves. Do you like twin fin? What's your comment on twin fins? Thank you!
I love twin fins. If you enjoy surfing yours then stick with it, but if you have the chance to mix it up, try a quad or thruster and see how they go!
a video on beginner groms, boards to get etc Cheers
Noted!
Is 7ft with 72l volum is good for starting out and surfing tiny waves???
You would catch everything on that Matiss!
What do you mean Summer's coming up? We're heading into winter in Australia now, I thought you were from around Sydney?

I surf small waves only with my Al Merrick Pod 6’8” 21 3/4” and 3”. Not sure what the volume is, it’s not written on it.
That is a great board, fantastic in small waves!
So mediterranean surf?
Sounds good Rodolfo
How to Rip No it isn’t . Not fun the mediterranean surf.
Brooo you call theese small im from ireland and we dont get waves like these often

Thanks for the feedback Thomas. I don't personally mix up volume a great deal, perhaps I should! How are you mixing things up with volume?

So is that a fish please be specific
Is it a hybrid Fish or what kind is it please help 😀
The seaside is more of a hybrid / high performance fish, and the gofish is more like a traditional fish
How to Rip what kind of fish should I get
I’m 5”9. 170lbs
I prefer High Buoyancy

analysis of professionals surfing heats or free surfing . they surf , you analyze them . just an idea .
Great idea Luis, thanks!
and those are not even "small waves". I've been surfing knee high mushy short lived waves. But I keep going.
Mate it’s Autumn
In some countries Summer is coming...
True
Those waves are not slow or mushy
Guy surfs like elko
I will have to check it out Shane!
Lol those waves werent that small. For some people thats average. Still good video tho.
Thanks Connor, yeah for sure. The techniques will still help in smaller waves than what I was surfing :)
One way to improve your small wave surfing: Ride a log. 😂
Certainly helps get that wave count up!
please just dont be a wave hog, there's 30 people inside of you that would like a shot at those waves
