  • In today's review, I'm taking a look at the pastel pencils from Derwent.
I've had these for some time but I haven't used them a lot,
after doing this review where I first make a drawing using only these pencils,
I can honestly say, that I should have used them more because the're actualy quite good.👌😊
Feel free to let me know how you feel about them in the comments below. 👇

This time I'm not including links to the products simply because the prices vary so much depending on which site you find them.
It's simply to difficult to give links that accomodate everybody so I'm affraid that if you want to check these out yourself, you will have to do some searching. 😉

I am a wildlife artist too. I like the same colors as you do and you’re right about the browns but I like the grays. This is a good video because I saved me from buying a whole set with a lot of colors I won’t use.

Thanks for the review. What paper did you use in the video and what did you use for white contours / transfer lines?

Might be getting some of these and the pitt (based on the my preferences and the lightfastness of their colors) and a bit of caran dache ones, so I can have a small but durable and useful range. This will be a secondary media for me ( as I am using normal pencils, watercolor paint and pencils and gouache ) but I like trying new things... Thank you for this reviews, It's much easier to decide now 😃

The video was very helpful 😇. I'm still undecided whether to buy derwent pastel pencils or faber castell pitt pastel pencils. But it cleared my doubts about derwent pastel pencil 👍

I find Derwent are definitely not as good as they were. The wood of many of their recent pencils is not as high quality as their older range and the pigment core is thinner.

I can't argue with you on that because I simply don't know🙈😅 I have had these since the beginning of my pastel journey and I haven't had to buy new ones ever since, because I don't use them that often.. Sad to hear that they have deteriorated though!
