She uploaded a video five years ago with the same whistle! Man the miles on that thing. I can only hope mine and myself will sound so good after five years. I'm a real beginner in search of a new whistle, contemplating the killarney
@@EquineRose-Rosie- I went with the killarney about a week ago - definitely a good choice! I agree with your appraisals of it too. I still suck but at least my sucking sounds a bit more bearable for the neighbours now :P Need to practice my finger accuracy. also, definitely do the elder scrolls playthrough ;D nice channel.
Thank you!! I started to play Tin Whistle because of your videos and I learned The King the Fairies using this video, your version is the best. It is very inspiring. Greetings from Brazil !!
Absolutely fantastic. Álainn! I love the tempo you chose and your swing is brilliant. Most other people (mostly guitarists) on UA-cam are playing it with no swing, and seeing this makes me happy. Go raibh maith agat from Dublin!
Thanks you so much for your videos. I'm currently practicing this tune with my wife (she plays accordion, I play the whistle) and your video is immensely helpful. Listened to it over and over again. It is also one of the best solo-versions of this tune on tin whistle on YT, I think. Keep up the good work. Please upload more videos :): The last one was Banish Misfortune and that is already 4 months ago. BTW--your videos were one of the main reasons I bought a Tony Dixon DX204 and it is awesome! Cheers from Germany, Phil
This is briliant, more emtions and interest than any other performance out there. why have you stopped uploading videos ? it's amazing. I've listened to this at least 50 times in the past week :)
You can find a setting on thesession.org/ just type in king of the fairies and choose the hornpipe. It is setting 2. You'll find it is pretty close to this version.
I always associate this tune to W.B. Yeats "Host of the Air", probably because the Clancy Brothers connected the two on an album one time. Very nice version BTW.
Very very nice indeed!!! I am learning this tune but i find the second part quite difficult :( !!!.. any chance to upload the tabs.. or maybe a quick tutorial :D? Have a nice day!
The model of the whistle is the Tony Dixon DX204 Heavy Brass Whistle in the key of D. It is a whistle I highly recommend you can purchase it from the Tony Dixon website: www.tonydixonmusic.co.uk/products/dx204/d It is their best model from a sound perspective both for novices and professional players.
Hi vero, love your music! Is it okay if I include 30 seconds of your song in a non-commercial project? I will link back here too so others can enjoy the full song :)
This is the most beautiful recording of this song I have heard. You are so good! How long have you been playing the pennywhistle? I just picked it up two weeks ago and I am learning to play this song.
Do you have any recommendations for favorite books, or online teaching sources? Or favorite source for sheet music? I am enjoying playing so much and find it not hard at all, though to get really good and discover the nuances takes time. If you ever feel inspired to post an instructional video about playing tips and suggestions, I would appreciate watching it! Do you have a website or another location where you post your music? Thanks so much for the beautiful melodies!
I usually learn tunes by listening them several times, and then trying to play them with the tin whistle... When the tune is particularly fast or difficult, I easily find tutorials or slower versions on youtube.... These are the only advices I can give you! And of course, listen lots and lots of irish tunes... I personally love bands like Planxty, The Bothy Band, Steeleye Span, Dubliners, Lúnasa... Enjoy! ;) Ps. I don't have any website... just this youtube channel... I intend to upload more videos, but I constantly forget to do it!! :)
Hello lady, greetings from Chile, I'm Sebastian Soto and seeking for a little documentary that I am making for educational volunteering propose, about chilean wild cats. May I use your song for a important part of my video? And if you can, give me your name for citation. thank you
You can tell she's dedicated to the tin whistle because it's discolored around the finger holes. Hours of playing...well done!

This is a Horslips original?
Nice playing btw. :)
No, it's a tune that became popular in Scotland and northern England in the 18th century. A bit before Horslip's time.
@@andrewwigglesworth3030 I think they definitely covered this one, thanks for the reply. 👍
@@thebillbo I'm not saying that Horslips didn't play this tune, just answering your question about whether it originated with them.
@@andrewwigglesworth3030 Cool, nice one man. 👍
