Can I just say how much I appreciate starting off learning something that isn't Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or some other nonsense? I feel like I'm actually playing music. This is great, thank you for putting this video up!!
Agreed
Listen to the tune as a complete beginner " there's no way I can play that" 40 minutes later ... I can play it! ☺️🙌 Thankyou so much !
Happy to hear this 🙂👍
best irish tune whistle tutorial maybe ever.
I know this video is 4 years old, and I don’t know if you will read this, but I my whistle just arrived the other day, and all I accomplished is scaring my dogs out of the room. I can’t wait to try this tomorrow morning when I have the house to myself. Thank you for posting Chris, I will give you an update. Cheers.
"The Britches Full of Stitches" polka- that was the first tune you taught me, too! Thanks a lot for the lesson, Chris.
I remember, as a kid, wondering why the hell I had to learn the recorder. Well, now, 50 years later, I know why.
Give it a go again Anthony :) never too late to learn 👍
@@ChrisMcMullanI just received a Wild whistle. It’s great. I’m watching your vids again.
Aloha from Hawaii! ❤thank you for your video. I always wanted to play an instrument growing up but never got a chance. I am a beginner and am now going after my dream. God bless you. You are very patient teacher. Very easy to understand. Keep posting videos it is blessing people.

Thanks for an inspiring start to my tin whistle adventure! I love the subtle note changes. I need a basic grasp of playing before I have to teach a class of 8 year olds next week!
Happy to help 👍
The universe must be on my side today because it led me here! THANK YOU so much for this exceptionally easy & enjoyable beginner lesson! I love this tune! New sub and delighted to have found you- even if it is 3 years later!
You should make more, a whole series even. I'd pay for that.
Thank you. Real fine tutorial
Oh my gosh! I’m a real beginner. Trying tabs vs reading music this time around. I feel musical! Thank You
What can I say. Great lesson, I’m subscribed and can’t wait for more. Thank you. I went to County Clare, discovered Micho Russell’s music and now I have my own tin whistle with an excellent teacher. Bravo
Thanks William 🙂

I have been wanting to learn how to play the Irish tin whistle for many years. This was he first site I clicked on and I am delighted to say it was so easy to follow that I can now play the Polka all the way through without too may scratchy notes! Thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Thank you Chris!

You got me.. I am getting my whistle out and excited to learn more tunes. TY Chris.
Chris you have made this so easy to learn! I bought my whistle while visiting my husband’s family in Ireland and have tried a few times since then. It wasn’t until I started playing your little tune I actually got it. Thanks so much for putting these videos out!
Thaks so much that is fabulous and very much appreciated I am A 77 year old and had the whistle for years but never knew how to play it. Now of course with a good bit of practice my aim is to make this tune sound like it does when you play it.
Awesome video. I ordered my first tin whistle online shortly after seeing this video. Can't wait to get started
Such fun to learn this tune orally with you after working through the beginner book - love hearing and being able to imitate the ornaments you’re using - thank you!! 🎶
Here I was casually looking for more beautiful songs... and I ended up finding something else I needed! Just got my first penny whistle and this video helped so much! By the end I was playing a duet of the polka with my da’s fiddle!
Brilliant!!
Great accent, great instrument, perfect tune.

Chris,
this is the first video of yours I have watched.
The format is excellent, I find it easy to follow your instruction. Also your including the notes in your description is helpful. The way you slow down and teach thoroughly is effective for me. Also, your personality is pleasant and you have a kind smile. You helped me learn my first whistle tune this week. Thank you for the video, I have subscribed and will check for other content that I may find useful.

Loved the video and you taking the time to teach the craft. This is an older video at this point and I haven't watched anything else of ours as of yet. That being said, I'm not sure what our editing abilities are but it would be awesome if you had the notes on screen for us to follow along with. Thanks again for the content! :)

Nice guy, nice lesson.
Started today watching my first tin whistle video's. I also play guitar bass and a bit of synth. What i noticed when you told about a constant airflow is that practicing at night while keeping the neighbours in mind this is very hard to do 😂
Nice one bro!!
Great lesson. Thank you
Thank you 😀
@@ChrisMcMullan Dude I got two new kittens and they were sitting mesmorized by my playing. They loved the sound of the tin whistle. So cool. Looking forward to getting better and entertaining them at a higher level
Been playing Irish flute for years, and this tune ;), but need a more portable instrument for taking scouts camping. Thank you!
