    Got my Maxima Platinum two weeks ago and you can't get me out of that car! Pics and vids don't do it justice, when in person it just looks mean in the best possible way. I'm a stickler on interiors and this one is near perfect in my opinion. Only thing I don't like is the driver's seat front extension has a gap you can feel when it's extended, I'm not a tall dude so I won't be using it anyway. The CVT doesn't sound or drive much like a CVT so not an issue for me. It's crazy fast and nimble for a sedan! Tight ride all around. I've gotten compliment after compliment. It draws the eye, and doesn't look like anything on the road. Oh and the rock solid adaptive cruise control will go from 80 to stop if it has to. Great implementation of the 360 cameras and blind spot radar too. I considered a BMW 3 series and the Volvo S60, but after I drove the Maxima I had to have it.

      @@cambamfam8165 I am sorry to report that though I love this car, at 45K miles the CVT died. It was just a few month away from the warranty running so glad it happened when it did. Dealer replaced it at no cost to me, and slapped another 60K warranty on the CVT. So they took care of me, BUT I wasn't a happy camper.

      Samuel Conlogue well I do like how they handles you but that is definetly not good w the cvt. I just bought a 2018 Camry SE and it has great reviews for reliability but a lot of ppl
      Are hating on it being an 8 speed trans. I do notice some awkwardness in shifting rarely but other than that no problem I have heard that the 8 speeds might be a problem as they age

    I'm old school and LOVED (still do) the 85-89 Maxima! That's when they really stood out from the rest. I always thought the 90 Maxima's ass looked like a Ford Tempo...I hated it! But now for 2016, it looks like Maxima is FINALLY getting its own identity again...instead of looking like a suped up Altima...kudos Nissan!

    I think what car makers are missing is that its all about the technology inside the car, what happened to making a car a car? Simple cars were the key.. 4th gen maxima were the best, 1995-1999.

      You are absolutely right. I got a 97 Maxima. I test drove the 2014 model. Heavy, noisy, drives like a Buick. People who say CVTs are okay never drove a good regular automatic or even better a manual. The seven speed regular automatic Nissan uses on Infinity cars would have been awesome. Quite a let down.

      I have a vlsd in mine. No torque steer just spins both wheels. Then again its built "a little". I work with the new Maximas every day and I hate the TC. It's just eh, not very smart but effective. I turn it off whenever I drive em but I do have to say it's a step in the right direction overall. We all agree it needs a 3.7 but it'll do for a few years

    What, Fiat couldn't afford a slogan?
    Of course you can cook the infotainment separately from the car. The only thing you need to design in is the display, but you can get standards-based displays and then design to the standard. HDMI exists for automotive purposes just like it does for your home, for example.

      +Martin Espinoza I had one and two BMW's before that. I did like the bimmers for what they were made: fun driving. Unfortunately most of them are "misused" these days. They are more of a status cars. Beyond three year old they have issues and they are over-priced. Didn't like the Audi. I had it for less than a year. They are a bit over-hyped and grossly over-priced basically for a Volkswagen with a nicer interior.

    I definitely want to check this car out. The key will be the door shutting. Does it sound solid. and not cheap? I say this because the "KER-thug" of the Lexus makes the entire car sound extremely solid. Well built. I looked at a Murano for exactly 15 seconds -- until I opened the door. This was a few years ago. The door felt lightweight, and the door shutting was like a cheaply made car. If this Maxima door feels the same -- the entire thing takes a lower end feel to me. It must feel solid. I have a 335i right now. It exudes sporty and solid. I had a Lexus IS250 - it had the same solidity. I also am not a fan of the cheap sounding seatbelt and key tones in the Maxima with the videos I've watched. BMW and Lexus have tones that sound rich. Sorry, but it is true. BEEPS are cheap.

    Disjointed styling that was probably all done on a computer and by committee. Great front end, then you go down the sides and have to look at those ugly folds "flowing" into the rear quarters that seem improbable and don't match the rest of the car's styling. It seems incomplete. Back end is nice, though. Saw one at the local dealer up close and was disgusted to spot orange peel paint on the front fenders!! Come on, Nissan, where's your quality control?

    • @iSOBigD
      @iSOBigD 9 років тому

      86daily Because some people don't want high mileage cars. :P Some people don't have the budget for new cars, others think it's not worth losing $20k in a couple of years on the value of a car, others know nothing about repairs or find them a hassle on old cars, some people don't drive much so a low mileage car will keep its value longer when they own it, etc. There are lots of reasons.

    • @86daily
      @86daily 9 років тому

      I agree with both of you. Those are very good points. My problem is that the US gov't has gone out of their way to keep low mileage cars so that they can sell more fuel and collect more taxes pruning the sheeples on a regular basses. The evidence is popping up in these foreign countries. I'm sure the time will come soon, if we are not all dead, that we may no longer need this old antiquate way of transportation.

    • @carrsekeer5356
      @carrsekeer5356 9 років тому

      +John Watson Ha, ha, right on. The '96-'99 model with manual an absolutely blast to drive. You want a good, driver orientated mid-side sedan...check out the 2016 Mazda 6 with manual. It's what Maxima should be. The V6 in Maxima is one of the best engines around. I get chills thinking about coupling that with a 6 speed manual. Wow...

    • @johnwatson6181
      @johnwatson6181 9 років тому

      +Carr Sekeer Problem is the Mazda is a 4 banger. Not enough power to make it truly fun to drive IMO. They could at least come up with a SMG or something as an alternative.

    • @carrsekeer5356
      @carrsekeer5356 9 років тому

      +John Watson It's a delight to drive. No need for six cylinders to be fun. Handles like a dream (FWD dream that is :-) and the best part, that always puts a smile on my face, is the 34.5 mpg average regular gas. For even more fun switch to sport mode or get a Miata a true driver's car . Lets face it in today’s traffic all those V6 or V8 "hot rods" are sitting right by you at the next light. Lots of special effects just for the show.

    • @johnwatson6181
      @johnwatson6181 9 років тому

      +Carr Sekeer we clearly have different driving styles/likes. The Mazda just doesn't impress me. Once you drive a VQ you don't want to go back to a 4 cylinder.
      The Miata is no help, 2-seater, same as the Z.
      I'm not looking for a hot rod, the Maxima is not one at all. It is just a 5-seater sedan that handles decent and has good power from the VQ. I just want that final element of a shift for yourself trans.

    • @johnwatson6181
      @johnwatson6181 8 років тому

      What kind of nonsense is that? Not the right car for a manual? Better tell BMW to stop making sedans with manual transmissions. I can think for myself when it comes to driving, I don't need the tranny to do it for me. Your paddle shifter for fake gear effects can be overridden by the ECU logic. I drive a '10 Altima 3.5SR sedan with CVT and "manual" mode via a tap fwd/back on the shifter. I am familiar with the fake gears and it is not even remotely like a manual transmission.
      Do you even know how to drive a manual trans? Have you ever driven one? The best part of it is the control. I had a 91 Maxima SE 5-speed and it was a dream to drive. In it's day it was a decent powered sedan same as the current Maxima. The best thing about it was I chose what gear I needed not a CPU. I know better what I wanted in terms of reaction when I hit the gas not the CPU. I knew what gear would not bog at the speed I was going not the CPU. The CPU knows one thing and only one thing, "use less fuel".
      The EPA is killing the manual transmission and it sucks.
