Valve is like that one father who leaves to get some milk and 10 years later comes back and says "Hey, what's up? I got the milk."
but instead of knocking on the door he teleports inside with a green flash looking the exact same way he went out for milk 10 years ago.
After that he goes to buy cigarettes and doesn't come back for another 10 years
then he drinks it in one go and goes out for more
And it's some good fucking milk they bring to the table
and you can't drink the milk unless you get a $2000 cup
Man i loved the commentary mode in HL2 and im glad you not only released HL Alyx but did the commentary mode again.
I also love that you dont have only one narrator for these comments, its a huge honor if you can explain your path of thinking by yourself in the game you proudly made. Its better then your name standing at the end in the credits

I love these developer commentaries. They’re tradition on every valve game and they not only go into detail about the about the games creation, blunt they tell a story as well.

Video games should do more of these "in-game dev commentary". As someone who loves these types of stuff and likes tapping behind the scenes, learning the story of how the game came to be, what they did to overcome certain problems, explaining why they designed something in the first place, all the way to tapping into players' psychology, their habits - they make me appreciate the game more within a technical level. Hoping to see more of these down the line, Valve!

@@jimmyjoe1488 I'm terrible at trigonometry and never implemented it in any game-related scenario, so take my comment with a grain of salt, but the functions of sines and cosines are represented as waves, so it might be related to that, I suppose.

@@shillian4770 I have not played it with commentary mode on yet. In terms of the actual game itself though, hell yeah. Best VR game I've played. Hell, it's the one of my favorite games in general.

HL2 has aged very well. Even today I play it from time to time. There are old games that I can't play anymore, but I still play this game as if it were current. It continues with very beautiful graphics.

Half-:Life: Alyx was truly the great experience I've ever had, not only in a VR game but in a singleplayer story. It felt so immersive, so atmospheric and its truly a work of art. Valve.. I'm pleading.. Please make more VR games.. I'd do anything to get more VR titles like HL:A.
Nothing I've played since even comes close.. I'm fed up of disappointments in VR. Developers just aren't even trying anymore and it's annoying af.

Possibly they are going to release a new graphic engine that would be called source 3? for the implementation of virtual reality, for the possible return of half life 3 and if so, my idea would also recommend that this source engine 3 both for computer games and for VR, that in VR they also add the connection options for the racing and flight cockpits, since in half life 2 or alyx we have stayed in the helicopter part and it can help with a simulation cockpit and the same with racing simulation, well that would be my opinion if they are going to create some moment the source engine 3.

I just jumped into VR a month ago. Alyx is something entirely different from anything i've played. It feels like future gaming. It's incredible. Props to adding more content.
I can't wait to hear how they did the liquid physics. So cool, so well done.
Finishing the game, I felt like there was a hope that maybe...maybe Half-Life 3 was being hinted at. A changing of where we left off with Eli now surviving and Alyx missing and seeing through Gordon's eyes as he reclaims his crowbar. But then I remember a crushing truth...this is Valve. They don't know how to count to 3. Half-Life: Alyx was good at least. Seeing the G-Man as if he was actually standing in front of me was amazing.

I figured out the timespan from the combine winning the war to the end of HL2 E2
7. YEARS. Here’s why I think this:
The start of the game describes it was 5 years before the citadel explosion. The citadel wasn’t finished in this look, meaning that it took 2 years to build the start of the citadel, and liberate the world. It would make sense it would take 7 whole years to complete a building/tower of that size. This was a thought i had and I may be wrong. But it is definitely above 6 years.
