I'm sorry to hear about your mom. that's really hard. what's her name? maybe we could dedicate the song to her if Jordan and I ever get together and play a show some day. He lives in Oregon and I'm down in California, but we met in Utah. I really like this song too, I heard it in an old movie called Cool Hand Luke when I was a kid. I feel like music captures memories in ways plain words can't.
Going through a tough time at the moment and as in the past I listen to this and it never fails to give me inspiration and sooths my soul. il also admit it it always brings a tear or two too ❤
Y'know as great a version as this is, what I think I like most about this clip is that it looks and feels like an excerpt of some wonderful and obscure little indie movie that I've never seen or heard of. Nicely done.
Oh wow, thanks so much! This is one of the coolest compliments I've ever received. It inspires me to want to make an obscure indie movie. Maybe someday I will! 💗🌟
@@JustineLucas sad to say it's a money-losing prospect (as the indie musician laffs in my face) unless cred and respect can be eaten or make car payments. Keep on...!
I thought the same, like Jim Jarmusch film, maybe. Oddly, he shoots in b/w, often uses musicians as actors, and often focuses on travelers, or two drifters in this case. Yeah, really nice feel to it.
No matter how many times I here your version I never tire of it....your sing in ng style and eyes are amazing...along with the GUITAR and banjo playing
Hey. Sorry for joining in late. But this is brilliant. The poetry of the road and its passing and roaming souls, captured in the back of a car on some parking somewhere sometime ago. Your performance transported me in my years of devouring Kerouac, Bukowski and alike. You two look beautiful people, simple and true. My favorite kind o_0 This is so far my 2nd favourite version of that song, after Paul Newman’s. Thank you for this gem. I wish the very best to the two of you!
Wow thank you Georges! This means so much. I love the beat poet / on the road reference. I actually grew up in SF, just around the corner from the City Lights bookstore where Karouac used to read.
I like the choice of black and white, it softens the whole thing and makes it much more universal. I'd go on about road trips and music, but you get the picture.
Back in the mid 1970's..at the Corralle in Loveland, Co..about 8 of us set up in the firewood shed..tom and CB and Michael, and jazz..and a host of others..just a bangn out good songs..this was one of them..We were The Limp Chicken..
I remember playing this on top of a bunker in Phan Thiet, South Vietnam. Later, I lived in SLC.... old memories being slammed together.... thank you...
Came back around to this tune after another stretch. Better than I remember, like the easy hug of a sorely missed friend. Hope this finds everyone as well as can be.
@@JustineLucas I went to Twin Falls, Craters of the Moon, Yellowstone, through Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Moab, Bryce Canyon and back to Salt Lake City. Love USA road trips. Sorry for delayed reply. Still watch your video and play along. Cheers from Oz.
It's been a year since a commented on this video. I've seen and heard and watched many others perform the exact same song from Cool hand Luke. I will say without hesitation that y'all are my favorite. You sound so good together.
The origin of this song was a short radio skit. Earnie Marrs filled it out to a full folk song, and you can hear him and my father (Bud Foote) and Eleanor Walden singing it on the Smithsonian Music Archive. My father is the rough baritone.
@@kevinmurtagh3434 I was a fortunate son. I remember my father and Pete Seeger bellowing protest songs in our living room during house parties. Buddy Moss would go straight for my father's 12-string Gibson.
great song i have listened to many versions of this and this one is up there with the best , omg and that girl she so hot could melt ice at a 100 paces and those eyes so expressive
My mom passed away in Feb of this year, this was one of her favorite songs. I passed my road test today. Here's to you momma.
