The thing about toji is that he is gifted because of his heavenly restriction but because he had no cursed energy he was seen as worthless despite his talents which I think shows the true blindness of the zenin clan because of Thier obsession with curse technique's.
This further adds to the irony of his character, he is perceived as talentless and allows that perception to define him, calling himself a 'monkey' despite being one of the most unique existences on the planet who is incredibly gifted.
Toji still needed to train his body to get this muscled. It was not like he was born with a sixpack.
The blindness of the Zenin's let to their destruction.
The Jujutsu society was always crippled but when all hell broke loose after Shibuya incident the Zenin's only made matter worse in their attempt to get rid of Maki and Megumi.
I mean a battle royal takes place in portions of Japan and the Zenin's are too busy with themselves?
@@R7dman one of the most interesting things about toji to me is the question if he's an underdog or not on the one hand he has no cursed energy but on the other hand he has an amazing gift with his heavenly restriction which he did nothing to earn but then again he also did earn his cursed tools so it's complicated.

The symbolism of Gojo vs Toji rematch was my favorite; Gojo had finally awakened his innate abilities through Ego Death, while Toji received Death *because* of his Ego. Peak fiction👌🏿👌🏿

I feel like Toji could be a good example of the proverb "The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth". I also think that while it is tragic that he couldn't break free from his shackles, it's... human... We all love stories in which the characters go through their respective healing and development, transform their inner turmoil and change their fate for the better (which is completely understandable). However, the reality is that while looking from the outside, that symbolic mountain is not insurmountable, for the person going through it, it can be excruciatingly hard and relapses and even dark descends are natural and that is just the nature of the human condition. In a way I like Toji precisely because he is a representation of that cruel realism.

more than batman the character that resembles toji the most is kiritsugu emiya from fate, imo. In everythyng exept in philosophy. They are defenetly opposites there lol. both are sorcerer killers, they will do what ever the sorecerers are not willing to do in order to win, and both show a level of genius when it comes to assasination. both are also deeply broken and self destructive.

Technically based on what Gaigi said Toji doesn’t need to use tools to fight jujutsu users he can beat them with his hand, but he uses them to kill curses, not saying he can beat all of them without tools.
necro, but i think it's an important rule that all sorcerers learn that you need to kill sorcerers with cursed energy to prevent them from turning into curses. We don't know for sure whether they would always come back to haunt the killer like Naoya did with Maki, but there is a good chance that is the case.
But sure, him needing those to overcome curses is also a simple, but true explanation

What I found interesting is that Toji's backstory is similar to Tai Lung, both parties forever scarred over the weight of expectations placed upon them by their family, Tai Lung when he learned he was never the dragon warrior, and Toji when they learned he had no cursed energy.
Tai Lung loves the thrill of a fight so he could become a dragon warrior, Toji loved it because he wanted to prove the Zenin family they were wrong, both Zenin clan and Master Shifu were horrible people when it comes to raising their kids, both only wanted to see the versions of what they wanted and not as who they are and what they wanted themselves to be.
great comparison. I also picked up on that. But I wouldn't say Shifu was a terrible person when it came to raising Tai lung, it was more so he put all of his affection on him and promised him that he was destined for greatness, and when it turned out that was false, Shifu turned his back on Tai Lung because of his blinding faith in Oogway.
And both Toji and Tai Kung were defeated by other people who understood and received true enlightenenment, to Toji, it was Gojo, to Tai Kung, it was Po!

While I acknowledge that Toji had a really shitty life at the Zenin estate he resolved to make matters worse.
Toji worked as a cruel and brutal mercenary.
Distancing himself so Megumi could have a better life is one thing but wasting every once of money because you have nothing better to do is another.
He wanted to die in his battle against Gojo after loosing any respect for others or himself.
Even the coworker who hired him turned his invitation down for dinner because he just doesn't like Toji.
I should've done a better job of making this clear in the video but I do want to make it clear I am not excusing Toji's actions, far from that actually. I think he is a product of his environment but not a character you should feel sorry for, especially after reverting to his former self once his wife died. He freely made those choices.
@@R7dman don't get me wrong I liked your video I just wanted to provide a different angle. Toji is a fan favorite outside of the series but inside the verse he's not really likable. Gojo also someone who polarizes is someone you would very well get around with but Toji isn't.
You mentioned Maki as a foil but she is her own character and let people who appreciate her in her life. Maki is Maki and nobody else.

The zenin clan would have been beastly and probaly would have chnaged the while trajectory of jjk if they accpeted toji. Why so onseses with ct and not just strong people. He proved you could be strong and beat sorcers and curses with a powerful heavenly restriction. Then he could train megumi and he would have been a beast
