I really enjoyed this new series. I remember in 1981 going to Radio Rentals, and renting out a huge separate Sharp VHS portable video recorder with a big separate video camera, with my friend for filming the tall ship event, at Southampton Docks. What an enjoyable experience it was. Please bring out your next episode as soon as you can. Thank you.
The 'Back to the Future' camcorder (JVC GR-C1) was launched in 1984, and it used a camera tube, rather than a CCD. The bright light 'trails' recorded on camcorder videos of that era were due to the use of tubes, rather than solid state sensors. The fist CCD camcorders appeared in 1985.
I get emotional when watching this channel, I was 10 when internet came, and a little more when cell phones came, i lived all those changes it was a wonderful journey that i may tell my kids in the future, Remember EnCarta ? lol great channel keep the work up
Very well said. I remember a lot of the changes too, having grown up and living with them. I used to record tv on vhs tapes in the mid 90’s. Then I was burning CD’s and DVD’s. My first mobile phone was the bosh 509e. It was literally a massive ORANGE brick. Tiny black and white display with huge telephone keys! It’s madness having lived through all the changes over the last 20 years. Today we are so spoiled. In a good way. Technology moves very quick sometimes. Great video.
I lived through the two piece camera and recorder. It was always mind blowing as each new advancement was made. When I switched from two piece beta to one piece vhs I purposely went with a full size vhs cartridge because the drum was full size and the quality was therefore better. Back then editing was done tape to tape and quality was essential. Then 8mm tape came along and the small size and high quality blew me away. I now use a digital Sony Handicam but convenience and quality is just about a toss-up between it and my iPhone. The powerful zoom on the camcorder gives it the edge imo. Great presentation Cold Fusion!
u make me happy... that someone remembers ....just the nostalgia alone ...greatest story pt 2 i teared up...u must make more retrospects....thank you degogo you inspire millions!
You , sir, are simply brilliant. I appreciate how you connect the dots and stimulate the mental conversations we are having in our minds, with ourselves, about what's up NEXT! Aloha from not warm Virginia!
killer idea for a series. i love how you keep our exponential advancement in mobile tech in perspective to things as little as 5 years ago and beyond. most people don't reflect on the things you make videos about. kudos.
Just came across this channel, in a word "AWESOME" head and shoulders above the rest. I love the graphics the innovative approach to documenting everything. I'm going to enjoy looking at all the back catalogue. Keep up the good work CF
It was very interesting to see the comparison of then and now. My family actually owned the RCA VHS shoulder video camera shown early in the episode, and it was a bit nostalgic to remember how privileged I thought our family was. Now everyone and their dog has something better... In there pocket no less. I always watch your videos, because they are usually quite informative, without all the needless talking. To the point, and interesting. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
This is fantastic. Love the retro/old commercials, brings back so many memories. You have by far the best produced videos I have seen on UA-cam. Keep it up!
I really liked this! Especially since there are times when I do look at my phone and think back to the days when it would have been several bulky devices that I would have never ben able to take out with me. It's also nice to look back every once in a while, looking forward to more of these!
Great show, refreshes lots of memories. I used some of those and imagined that someday... what if we could fit it all in our hands, now we do and I imagine.....
You are awesome buddy. That's hard work bro. And you deserve a big applause. Keep up the work, youtube seems interesting, thanks to you and few others.
I don't know why but I feel like crying while watching this. I used to have some of them and every time the product shows up, it brings my old sweet memories back which I will never get them again today :'( how time flies, and how I am growing up
Loved it man, kept my interest the whole way through, i had a home video camcorder once and it's like when you go back to and old game that you think looked as good as any of today's games and it looks nothing like them, seeing the comparison of today and then's camera's blew me away
New thinking! Loved the concept of this new series. Dude, with the quality of your videos (which is freaking awesome!) you should team up with someone like Discovery and go big!
Loved this video, really great work and the comparison between the old and new footage really is amazing to watch. I didn't like the whole meme thing (3:49) that was going on in this video, I think it takes the quality level of the video down a notch.
Excellent video. Reminds me of my childhood when my dad used to scream from the kitchen that I was going to break the very expensive shoulder mount VHS home video camcorder, when I would make stop motion clay figures. Now you find them all over thrift stores for 15 us dollars!
Awesome mate! We actually use to own one of those split system cameras, but it was actually split into 3 pieces: one being the camera itself, the other being the tape recorder unit and the third being a belt strap with a bunch of batteries. We then upgraded to a JVC VHS all-in-one camcorder which was "studio quality", it weighed in at around 2.5kg.
Excellent video. You could dig a little more into a comparison with modern technology and old generation technology at the end of the video. I thought there would be a little bit more about the incredible capacity of modern smartphone cameras in this video. Great work!
I love all your work, it far exceeds everything out there, one word, BRILLIANT! . I am just a but perplexed on the name, I call it cold fusion. It's easier for me to pronounce. Lol Keep up the great work. Myke
