Lyrics:
They get way more than they deserve
Like taking all their lockers first
Yeah basically they get away with murder
The PTA is in their pocket
Picking favorites, no one stops it
But with me their golden age is over
Call me crazy but their time is up (up)
Smash the system we have had enough (ohh)
I see a new way to ride at Rydell
I’ll take the wheel until we’re cruising
Where outcasts live just like everyone else
I’ll take wheel
Sugar sweet for every, everybody
Not just queens and kings with lots of money
I see a new way to ride at Rydell
I’ll take the wheel
Juvenile delinquency and rampant immorality
it leads to crime and anarchy and danger
So you think you thought it through
But that's what it leads to
Communism is their favorite flavor (Boooo)
I admit that things have gotta change (Sure)
But change ain’t gonna happen in a day (Boring)
I see a new way to ride at Rydell
I’ll take the wheel
And then we’ll--
And then we’ll--
You’ll what?
Stop picking on the lower class
the wallflowers, iconoclasts
we’re way over being your easy targets
The feminine machines are broke,
the student councils on the ropes
the mother-daughter brunch is in the garbage
Why you acting like his enemy
you sang a different tune in his backseat
I mean seriously, Jane, who are you really?
A shameless nerd, ambitious girl
a rebel on the honor roll
a teachers pet who’s looking for good trouble
Italian, a Puerto Rican, let me be the voice of reason
there’s no time like now to burst the bubble
You bet your ass I’ll make the dance
a place that we’re all welcome at
and rock 'n roll will burn this mother down
And you can wear just what you want
and no one’s gonna tell you off
and rock 'n roll will burn this mother down
I see a new way to ride at Rydell
I’ll take the wheel until we’re cruising
Where outcasts live just like everyone else
I’ll take wheel
Sugar sweet for every, everybody
Not just queens and kings with lots of money
I see a new way to ride at Rydell
I’ll take the wheel
What is it Buddy? Should we phone your debate coach?
I see a new way to ride at Rydell, I’ll take the wheel---ah!

The obvious joy the cast had performing this is infectious. Doesn't even look like acting... this song is an effing blast!
2:16 I love how proud her mum looks in this bit. It's really sweet especially after Jane struggles with her identity with the club and the debate on TV.
What's stunning for me is how high these songs are. Both Jason and Marissa were belting their hearts out in this song and that tends to be the case with most of the songs in this show. It's truly amazing.
Still can't believe they canceled and erased this 😢
@@gurin9451 ikr i was devastated when i found out
You should watch the original grease. 1950 happened
@@kylecunningham1187 The one with John Travolta OR the proper original with Barry Bostwick (Chicago) in 1972? Either way, the movie didn't age way and the other one there's little to no stock footage (mainly just the audio) 🙄
@@gurin9451they won’t erase this from our life’s it will always be here I want series’s 2
eternally grieving this show
Same 😢they need to bring it back
Literally same
It's scary how expensive shows can be made like this and then deleted like old computer files after a couple of months, from existing to not existing in barely the blink of an eye.
I’m so sad they cancelled this show. Lots of good songs and storylines. Was looking forward to learning more about Frenchie and Rizzo and the og pink ladies in this. They made a big mistake cancelling this show. Didn’t even give it a chance 😢
I know. They didn't even give me time to finish it. They just took it off all of a sudden. I hope another streamer takes it on.
I just watched it on the tv app today
I loved the show, I would always be so excited for each episode to come out. The Songs are amazing and the story is really good and exciting and has good drama. There were also a lot of things I could relate to in this show with the characters, I found it pretty cool to see little sides and parts of me with in all of the Pink Ladies characters (and that includes Hazel).
I was hoping for them to eventually build up to Grease 1 and it looked like they were with Frankie Zuko. It implies that Jane also might know his brother Danny.
We need a a petition.
Who want the show to come back, rise your hand !
1:56 always gives me chills!! The way she gets confidence of herself and her mom accepts it too. Please save this show:((
The way Richie and her look at each other when she says “a teachers pet that’s looking for good trouble”
I’d vote for Jane.
Side note: This song is a BOP!
Best show like this i've seen in a long time, brilliant acting, music and the choreography is incredible. If people would give it a chance instead of assuming its "Too Woke", I think they would be surprised how great of a show it is.
It's not too woke for the present, it is far too woke for the 50's, just look at Grase, they were all practically white and this is set before that, or look at Hairspray, "welcome to the 60's" when we try to include black folks in a show for the first time, THE 60S. If this show was set today with a few twist on the script it would've worked perfectly
@@torri4295 oh come on, suddenly we care about questionable historical accuracy in cinema, and what is more - teenage, musical series?
@@deerinheadlights7179 I’m a filmmaking student, so i do care. You can have a historically accurate version of this show with all the same actors, if you only set the time on the 2000s. You can even use the original cast as grandparents or headmaster or wtvr. The usa is always racist so the plot and the songs still work, and you can even make Cyntia non-binary and that would make their trouble choosing between the t-birds and the pink ladies more believable, and it would stop people from misgendering Ari. The entire story would be perfect if it where set more in the present, you change the story of the student-teacher love affair if you make it more PLL and there you have it
@ torri: your comments made me write a literal 2000 word essay in the middle of the night. please understand that that is the opposite of a compliment.
@@risipieces explain yourself
This show is brill, i see alot of people calling it woke nonsense but even if its not to your tasteif not you gotta admit the music is fab! Also the way Richie watches Jane smiling is adorable. 😍😍😍
But even at that I don’t see how people think it’s woke , they’re not exactly trying to push anything onto the audience it’s pretty natural
@@kenziecanavanotoole7400 Everything is "woke" to the Qtards. America has defeated racism and fascism, and we will again.
@@kenziecanavanotoole7400 To some people, anything with a nonwhite/racially mixed cast is "woke."
@Lauren 95. I agree with you. I am enjoying this show far more than I expected to. I am totally rooting for Richie and Jane as a couple.
@@RetroGirl1967 The show implies racism towards Asians, Hispanics, and Black that I could understand why Frenchy later removed the Puerto Rican from herself and stuck to Italian. Her mom also removing Spanish from their household just to fit in a predominantly white community. Segregation wasn’t really a thing in West Coast. It was more a South thing.
Her vocals are phenomenal.
The whole cast is amazing in this!! I'm really impressed with the majority of the original songs in this series.
This song works a lot for the ensemble and is just sooooooo good
The music in this show is so good. Everyone involved deserves their flowers
Put the show back on the streaming service and give it 3 more seasons.
Seriously like bring Richie back!!!
I hope they keep on with next season . I see a lot of potential. It talk about what the girl won't have done or talk about or do. Love it,. IT shows bullying and how we took it in our hand with out kiling people or our self.and speaking up or doing something about it.
I have bad news for you buddy
i love how expressive jane was in this like the actress truely had fun like she was herself and not 'jane'.. if you know what i mean but yeah
0:20 is my favorite line out of the entire show
Petition to make this song the anthem of the fan base now that Paramount+ cancelled the show and is taking it off
Love all the flow switches! Respect for the songwriters and producers. Thank you for posting this. Please add closed captions for Same Sky! ✌️
@Paramount Plus, thank you for adding captions to “Same Sky”! ✌️
Paramount better do season two!!! I need more of this show
my fav part is when jason sings “that’s what it leads to”
Thank you so much for posting these incredible performances to UA-cam! I absolutely adore this show!
The way Richie looked pisses when Susan said you sing a different tune in his back seat then started smiling again because of Jane
PLEASE GIVE THIS SHOW ANOTHER SEASON AND THE PROMOTION IT DESERVED!!!
my second favorite after 'i want more'🙏
I really hope Buddy gets a rock and roll song in season 2 cause that one part he sings at 1:04 is my favourite part.
I only have half ideas as to how this could work but I'm picture him ending up having to stay at Frankie Zucco's place. That could help him get out of his usual circle and could also lead him to singing at least one rock and roll song.
@agenttheater5 Or in a similar way to his Puppet on a String song, but instead of him feeling hopeless realising how much adults are in control of his life he has a rebellion song demanding he gets left alone to do as he pleases without cheating through the system. Zuko helping is a fantastic idea to get him there.
This is all hypothetical, but I'm picturing the softer side of rock. Not as wild as Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis, but I'm thinking more like Ricky Nelson.
@@RetroGirl1967 could be - wasn't he a bit later though? Still, one Ricky Nelson style song for next season if/when it gets renewed along side one Jerry Lee Lewis style song and one Elvis Presley style song would be nice to hear, giving us some variety with rock and roll.
@@agenttheater5 Yes the series is set in 54 and Ricky Nelson didn't become big until later in the 1950s, but since the songs the characters sing exist outside of time and space ("New Cool" sounded a bit like "Jailhouse Rock" from the late 1950s and "Girls Can't Drive" sounded like "Sk8er Boi" from the early 2000s) I'm okay with that. For the songs the characters sing, it's more about mood, tone, and vibe than whether or not it sounds like 1954.
I’ll admit GLEE is my guilty pleasure show, but this show is what GLEE wishes it was 😂
This will always be my favorite song in this episode because of the energy in it love this show ❤
Such a shame this show was cancelled. Everyone deserves to have a character that represents themselves.
And now the show was cancelled
Sad this was canceled because I honestly loved the musical numbers in this series. It will be severely missed. 😢
Im still mad they cancelled this show and took it off soo fast. Sooo dissatisfied
the little moment in the bridge with jane and richie has my heart. They shouldve been endgame. 2:00
BRING IT BACK!!
BRING IT BACK!!
BRING IT BACK!!
The first episode was a bit hard to get through, but as you watch on, it's not bad . Hope this show and wolf pack gets a season two. Please don't give up on them
I loved all the songs so far can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode
Bring the show back!!!!!!
My favorite ensemble number on the show so far. Serious Grease 2 vibes.
We need to get this show back up again because for some reason this shows is down for me and we need to get this show back up and if your with me like this comment.

Fave song from this show so far
1:56 my favourite part
So Beyond mad this was cancelled.
This was such an insane performance, I'm going to have it in my head all week !
THIS SONG ITS SO GOOD AND AMAZING
grease rise of the pink ladies is the best show ever so much talent and the music is so good the show teaches us that girls need no one to tell us what to do.💓
One of my faves! 💚
Thank you for finally posting this!!
This still goes so hard
I loved this number so much
I honestly can't believe they canceled and removed this masterpiece . I cancelled as soon as it was removed . Such a bad move for p+
JASON MY BELOVED
This show has been so fun
This is my favorite song so far💗
THATS WHAT IT LEADS TO
Netflix or Prime Am should take the show and keep it, then keep going on with a season or two with a good care
No lie at first I was a little skeptical ONLY because I love original grease so much however after watching the entire show it was simply amazing! Everyone should be very proud of the work they put into it the music as well was just phenomenal very disappointed that they just simply cancelled the whole thing but I think I know with a little faith and hope they’ll bring it back somehow cause there is NO WAY it’s going to end the way that it did and just end like that you know what I’m saying
Clearly stands out as the most iconic song of the series! This, "New Cool, and "In The Club" are by far top tier songs. Pity about the rest...
what about I want more? This song was phenomenal
And 'merely players' 🎉
I really liked The Boom too
Pity yourself.
this is so fun omg
Everyone just looks so happy and joyous! We need to save this show!
So sad this will be taken of streaming on July 1st
A masterpiece!!!
My favorite song in the show
I love how they compare things to communism. They’re really making an effort to show that this takes place in the 50s.
It's also an allegory for today's modern politics because if you look around... nothing's changed at all in 70 years.
@@adfred2yeah seventy years later and leftists are still getting called commies for things like *checks notes* thinking everyone deserves a home and food
Es de las mejores canciones
Cóloquen la de Imaginación del segundo capítulo, muy buena serie y musica
i love this song but cynthia with her mop just brings me joy
If I don't watch it in 2024, it'll be a wasted year
Wish it would got a second season
There has got to be a way to watch this show? Does anyone know how?😢😢😢

I bought it on vudu
SMASH THE SYSTEM WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH 🗣🗣
SUGAR SWEET FOR EVERY EVERYBODY
1:16 hey look mom, no hands !!! But seriously, how’d he do get up there with no hand ???
00:19 is my favorite part
Jane's mom looks more like Olivia
I've been saying this since I saw the first episode!
Rewatching this video noticing the. T- birds in the back
I hope Jane and Richie will get back together
I'M SO SAD THEY CANCELLED THIS SHOW.
I wasn’t even able to finish the show when they canceled it. It’s literally such a good show and I only got to episode 4 before it was canceled and removed
Segunda temporada, please 😢 why did you cancelled it?
This sound crazy but take the wheel reminds me of hells bells (instrumental version)
This makes me want to turn up
I wish they did a c d soundtrack for the songs
I think it's going to be released soon.
Same I will buy the cd soundtrack if they hade one
The songs are great! The only problem that I have with the show it just that its all lipsyncing and like I'm always, is it really the actors singing the recording? But dont get me wrong I love it, and the performance are not overracted like in glee for some songs for exemple
It is the actors singing the performance! It's just dubbed for audio reasons. But, they did actually record the singing lines, they're just using prerecorded audio so that they don't deal with winded singing, because with all of that dancing, it's a workout
This is like claiming the titanic didn’t sink
Buddy and Jane make a better couple because he supports her. The writers make him kind of dorky but he's a good guy, even when he's opposing her. Their chemistry shines through.
My parents said "This is what happens when "wokeness" ruins great things" it was a great show but certain things i understand most people who genuinely love grease and musicals in general were a bit much but it was still a good show
I wish this show had more period authentic sounding music...
It does when it's background music. The series lives in two different musical worlds. What's playing on the jukebox or from someone's radio is absolutely spot on for 1954. The musical numbers exist outside of time and space. They are trying to connect with a younger audience and demonstrate that some of the issues are about the age group/stage of life and not unique to the 1950s. Modern influenced music helps them see the similarities and make the connection. I felt the same way when I first heard some of the songs before seeing the series, and then I realized what the creative team was doing, totally understood it, and thought it was brilliant.
I'm perfectly fine with this and I watched both of the Grease movies but it was assumed from the beginning before this series started it wasn't gonna be historically accurate on everything however this interpretation is great it's fun it's imaginative and I wish I had a chance to be part of production
They actually thought about that and took inspiration from the original movie! The songwriter mentioned that while the original movie was set in the 50s, some of the songs were very much from the time period when the movie was released (the late 70s). They did the same thing here. Some songs are very period accurate but some are also very current!
@@RetroGirl1967 So, this is actually fiction and not a documentary? Why don’t people know the difference? 😂 ✌️
Here after Kamala Harris is in the election race (in the US).
Why does buddy sing so high pitched
I watched every episode so far I like it but when the girls sing to me it sounds like the same girl is singing all the parts. I don’t hear a difference in any of them
Just was I saw here.. I'm glad it was cancelled. What an insult to Grease.
This song doesn't sound 50s/60s at all...
None of the original songs do. It's to connect with modern teens and help them realize some issues/feelings/emotions are not era specific and common to almost all teenagers. However, all of the songs playing on radios or the jukebox are absolutely perfect for 1954.
Well tgrn set jn a time when this riff riff music is relevant. So yeah your preach is lost . We all know its about inclusivity but don't set it in the 50s and disrespect the music .
The original movie's songs didn't either to be honest, it wasn't as loose with genres as this one still when it come to musical numbers but even as a big musical fan and liking Grease it still sounds like the 70s trying to sound the 50s than legit late 50s.
Nothing new just another version of the high school show called GLEE
Song is cute but this actress's vocals are wayyyyy too modern
Musical numbers exist outside of time and space. While the songs playing on the jukebox and radios in-universe are very accurate, the songs have a modern twist to them just like Grease had a 1970s twist in the late 1950s. You also have to remember this show is targeted towards todays teens.
Yeah it's just NOT rock n roll . Which makes it redundant . Love the inclusiveness but yeah don't disrespect the music of the era
The anti-communist propaganda in this help 😭
