Klaus spent most of this series living his best life in really horrible (for him, for others who tried to save him) ways. But I will always love that in this scene, Klaus really IS living his best life, including being reunited with Ben. Robert Sheeran is hard core fabulous in this!
It's the "Get them Luther!" That forever cemented Klaus as one of the greatest characters I've ever seen written and interpreted by its actor so perfectly. I can't be convinced that in other universes he is played by anyone else, it's just inconceivable to me.
You know, there are times when mere words can not explain things that we see or hear, for that matter, but this time says, keep your cock holster shut and only speak when spoken to.
Expected a Dance sequence like the have every season but I didn't expect it so soon and out of nowhere. Didn't know wth I was watching but enjoyed every bit.
The fact that I didn't even question this for a second when it started and was willing to 100% accept this was actually happening, against the fact that this was Diego’s hallucination was more surprising LOLOL
Right? I had absolutely no problem nor did I require any suspension of disbelief that this is how they would have resolved a conflict amongst themselves. To be honest, I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't!
Season 4 wasn't the ending we deserved I would have personally loved to have a much different ending and this dance gets redone at the end as this was such an iconic moment.
@@darkfangnightcrow Personally I don't mind sad endings but I think the build up made it all feel unearned and the durang concept wasn't the way to go about it
Five looks so intense during his hop forward and clap, like he just spend 45 years trying to stop the apocalypse and will not be beaten by a simple dance battle 🤣🤣
Aidan studies the comics and source material and goes METHOD with Five who has the DNA of hundreds of serial killers in his DNA strands. Brilliant actor and he nails this character.
"i spend FORTY-FIVE YEARS trying to stop the APOCALYPSE and i will NOT be beaten by a SIMPLE DANCE BATTLE" is something that i can see five saying, and oh god this would make a glorious scene.
@@titirsha6328 It has it's moments, but overall it suffers due to only having 6 episodes. Needed twice as many to tie up some loose ends, have Luther and Sloan find each other, explore the multi-Five alternative timeline in more depth (although imagine all the farting!).
@@MsGrockle i know, right! They could've elaborated the multi-five thing even more and notice how despite so many fives being together there were no "side-effects" which were mentioned by five in season 1. And u know the Sloane issue, how they literally ignored she ever existed. Plus, what happened to Allison's power of rumouring people? Did i forget something or did she stop using it out of nowhere? And, THE FREAKING FIVE AND LILA THING OH MY GOD I DONT EVEN NEED TO START ON IT. They completely changed his character and removed the personality he was so iconic for. He literally tried to stop Lila from going back home because there might be an apocalypse and they are happy there? Like cmon now Five might call his family a bunch of dumbasses but he'd never choose himself over them
@@joethehatter her power is also related to what the people's fears and dreams are. So for Diego this means all he wants deep inside is for the families to get along and be happy together
@@cashewnuttel9054 One of the members of the sparrow academy's powers is to make people hallucinate their dreams & fears. In this case Diego wants both parties to be happy & get along with each other which is why everyone in the Umbrella academy has some nice & happy expressions on their faces, it may also be how he views each of the members on the Umbrella Academy. Since Luthor talked in a himbo voice when Diego asked what are they doing so he may see him as the big dumb brute of the team & like the commenter said even in this goofy scene Five is still looking serious so Diego may still view him as the same hard ass.
Five's clap move is literally one of the funniest parts of this scene because the man just wants to get the briefcase and go home BUT NO 😭 he has to go through a dance battle first
At this point he isn't thinking about the briefcase (they haven't realised yet what's going on). Putting aside that it was only hallucination, I think that five fully commited to kick sparrow's butts in every challenge it would take.
here's a thought, do you think the show should've ended with flowers or a dance-off in the OG timeline with the academy! but the season would still suck!
@@leyte68I would have liked at least ONE last dance with the siblings before the season ended .. but no we got another Klaus bender story, destruction of 5s character and the most underwhelming ending ever.
At 0:49, just hearing Klaus say "Get him Luther!" made me laugh. Everyone else if confuse, but to Klaus, I don't know how to explain. It's like we took a glimpse into his world.
Personally it threw me back to the pilot episode when Diego and Luther were about to fight, and if I remember correctly I think that Klaus tells Luther the exact same thing 🤔
@@himwiththehair8118 That & how Five joined the dance battle with the team without hesitating or just loudly questioning why they aren't just beating each other up.
Considering that we establish later that the hallucinations are based on desires, this adds a bit of charm that deep down Diego wants to solve all his problems with dance.
And as we see Five hunging and kissing the air, people act out their fantasy... so Diego danced all by himself while the others were just standing there or fighting, (the show, shows him in the same spot from the beginning so i think diego controled himself while hallucinating... but still fun to think about)
I didn't even consider this as a hallucination or something of the sorts, I just imagined it was something Reggie thought it was important to teach them when they were super young, so he made the Sparrows do the same and they were all just vibing real good and footloose lol Gotta love the show!
Actually, Reggie made them take dance lessons. At least that was said by Diego when he danced with Lila in the Mexican Embassy on season 2. For that reason, I also thought the dance battle was real.
I love how the reaction is "oh, weird, Five didn't dance", like nevermind everyone else did it, it's weird because Five's doing it... Which you're totally right, btw.
It wasn't even a particularly relevant detail to the rest of the season that her venom causes hallucinations, which leads me to believe they just wanted a Footloose dance battle and wrote Jayme to have that power so they could do it.

Let's not even get started on Allison here. Seeing her dancing around with her siblings and being genuinely happy is like therapy. Edit: I said this before that episode where she rumoured Luther. Ew.
@@dont.say.alec. exactly. Allison just looks like she’s having the time of her life and I feel awful because of everything she’d gone through and goes through this season
No recent scene in a TV show has topped this for me. It was pure perfection. Diego dancing with his mother. Five keeping a serious face while dancing. Klaus living his best life and dancing with Ben. And let's not forget luthor doing his crab dance. Peak cinematography
At first I had 2 thoughts. One: this was a test Marcus was doing to see if they were really Reginald’s children and maybe he had them learn line dancing as children for team building. Two: Marcus’s power forces people to dance and hear music.
When it began, I genuinely thought that in each timeline Reginald taught the footloose song/dance routine as part of basic training. Like, it was used as a fun tool to get each individual in sync with every other member of the family. So it made sense that the Sparrows and Umbrellas not only knew the same song, but also knew it's routine; because they were raised by the same person. I was on board with the silly situation because the previous seasons set the story up as a silly one. It turning into Diego being fucked up made the whole scene fantastic. Plus, Klaus saying "Get him Luther!" with such enthusiasm, as though a dance off was expected was hilarious. Either way, I fucking love that the entire cast had to learn this dance. That makes it more hilarious to me.
yes, damn. Throughout their dance, I thought that Reginald taught all his children the same dance and this scene is like a battle. It's cool to meet a person who thought the same way😄
I was so invested in this being a team building dance that everyone in both teams were forced to learn. The “defending our honour BRO” slayed me. Absolutely amazing season
I'm glad you all think the same way, but @@grumboflipflorp5688 for a moment I thought the same thing. That this new universe was a much more whacky one with silly ways to resolve disputes. But as soon as all of the Umbrellas joined Luther in a perfect routine, I thought it must've been more than than that. That this rhythm must somehow transcend time. Weird that none of us thought it was a drug trip, especially when we all saw Diego get spiked at the beginning.
I would love for the cast to do an interview and be asked how long it took them to get the dance scene down. From what I understand they had to work on this over Zoom due to the quarantine. Can you imagine how difficult that was? You have no way to coordinate the rhythm since nobody is in the room with you. If your timing is a second or so off, it isn't obvious over Zoom.
I had to come back to this treasure of a scene after watching season 4. Needed to remind myself why I love Umbrella academy so much hahaha either way I refuse to believe that season 4 happened
Okay but seriously, can we just rave about the kid who plays Five for a minute? He's only 18 and he does such a GREAT job of portraying a crotchety old man stuck in a teenager's body. The facial expressions and everything, just... dude. Somebody give this kid a medal.
Its easy to be a grown up playing a kid but a kid playing a grown up is hard as shit. Thankfully his face expressions & the writing make it actually believable that he is a old man in a kids body because if the show only kept telling us he was older without showing it than it wouldn't have worked as well.
I was fully willing to accept that the scene was real and the two academies had just rehearsed a flawless dance routine in case it ever came up Also I love how much fun the actors are obviously having :)
In my opinion, the moment with Baby shark was amazing). Driving for 3 hours and listening to this shit was hilarious. Especially the moment when they all threw up at the end)). On the one hand, it's because of Marigold, and on the other hand, we can assume that it's because of the song))
I love how Diego's hallucination is "We dance happily and become friends afterwards" . It's actually what he thought of somewhere deep inside, because Five was hallucinating of Delores later and we know he loves her. Actually it makes sense that Diego loves dancing because he does it every season and his dance moves are the most cool and original.
Can we just point out that the lady saw five kissing a bit there Delores.. does that mean that Diego was dancing while they were all just stood there and they accepted it 😭
i love how this is netflix's way of welcoming us back to the series- with a well needed dance break (even if it wasn't real) it's almost as if they were saying "thank you for waiting so patiently for this season." i know damn well that this was so fun to shoot and i cant wait for the blooper reel i missed you guys so much
What makes this twice as funny is that this is Diego's Hallucination. From Five's hallucination, we can tell that she can make people see what they want to see, so imagining that this is what Diego wants to see or do makes this 10x funnier! LOL
Hilarious to think the amount of work they put into making this scene for it to only be a hallucination and have no influence in the plot line whatsoever, only adds to the great comedic sense this show has. Love that they absolutely have to make them dance EVERY season!
I love that music is such an important part of the show. I’m not a fan of MCR but i feel like in some way, Gerard’s personal interest in music has influence on how integrated it is.
You can tell all the actors enjoyed the hell out of this. Some of them likely went into this dance kicking and screaming, but when it all came together it was perfect symmetry.
Not gonna lie, when this started I was just like...'okay, well everyone on the Umbrella Side looks so confused when Marcus started dancing so maybe this is just how they do things here' and then Luther started dancing too and I'm like 'ok, that seems to check out' Like I was fully ready to accept it as a legit thing that happened.
To be fair, they didn’t alter much of the timeline, just them being wanted criminals and Harlan having powers (and a couple people knowing about the future and their powers). If anything, Klaus’ cult teachings being stolen lyrics would be the biggest change for the world as a whole
@@ginarosemontarano2784 Also it's Diego's hallucination so even if Footloose didn't exist in this timeline, he'd still remember it from his own timeline anyway.
I give praise to the entire cast and crew, not just because it was tricky to learn this dance, but because it was made during a pandemic. But results created the best opening of Season 3 with one of my favourite dancing songs.
..... "because it was made during a pandemic." ... Have you not seen the hundreds of Tik-Tok dance videos made by "over worked" nurses and doctors in "overrun hosptials" during the "pandemic?" Time to get a clue, my friend.

Klaus spent most of this series living his best life in really horrible (for him, for others who tried to save him) ways. But I will always love that in this scene, Klaus really IS living his best life, including being reunited with Ben. Robert Sheeran is hard core fabulous in this!
Klaus reminds me so much of American Dad's Roger. No surprise that they even have the same voice in german voiceovers.
It's the "Get them Luther!" That forever cemented Klaus as one of the greatest characters I've ever seen written and interpreted by its actor so perfectly. I can't be convinced that in other universes he is played by anyone else, it's just inconceivable to me.
The whole show is incredibly well cast, but Robert Sheehan as Klaus is just pure perfect casting.

Ah, though if they had to do a dance off they could've done it scott pilgrim vs the world style. With actual damage from each move.
100%. Underrated comment, should be pinned.
I genuinely thought that dance-offs were how conflicts were resolved in the Sparrow’s universe throughout this entire scene
I love that the show can be so ridiculous at times that we didn’t even question whether or not it was real at first
I would love for the cast to do an interview and be asked how long it took them to get the dance scene down. From what I understand they had to work on this over Zoom due to the quarantine. ..... "because it was made during a pandemic." ... Have you not seen the hundreds of Tik-Tok dance videos made by "over worked" nurses and doctors in "overrun hosptials" during the "pandemic?" Time to get a clue, my friend.
@@jbtwofour in this millions dollar invested series, for a scene like this, it would involved hundred of hours of practicing/ traing together and several days of shootings in a locked up place. What's more, they couldn't be dancing half-assedly and hope everyone will enjoy it, unlike those 30-second Tik-tok video which can be made during break. Stop being a jerk and talking down on others' effort, will you?
Edit: Sorry if you're being sacarsm, lol.
When the scene started, I was literally thinking, WTF. And by the end of the song, it felt like the most The Umbrella Academy scene in the whole damn series. So wrong, yet so right.
@@jbtwofour Right, it was manufactured by Bill Gates colluding with CHUD's and underground lizard people to create mind control right? lol You conspiracy theorists are morons....
@@jbtwofour TikTok is for children my guy and pedophiles
Can we appreciate how Klaus and Ben having the moment of their life, that Diego is happy to having no drama and that Five look like he could kill you with is dance moves
I love how Five is still absolutely the crankiest old man while dancing Footloose
he still looks like he's having fun though, especially when he's dancing with jayme
I love love love klaus raising his hands and having the time of his life at 1:28 ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I cannot even begin to say how many times I’ve watched this one scene…. REPEATEDLY!!! Lol the fact that Ben was dancing at all after reading somewhere that Justin doesn’t dance. OMG and Klaus was soooo into it!!! I wish there was a practice, blooper or rehearsal reel somewhere!!🤣
In one of the interviews, Justin (Ben) and David (Diego) mentioned all their rehearsals were recorded and there are plans to release them eventually coz they're too gold not to 😅
There's a behind the scene about the Footlose dance off in Facebook. I think it's on MTV News. It was awesome
Everyone dancing properly and then Klaus raising his hands is the best shit I've seen in the whole dance monatge. And then there's Alfonso being not in sync with the hair spinning gang.
They must have had a blast doing this scene. I haven't watched the series, but now I need to.
You won't regret it! It's a great time no alcohol required!
There's behind the scenes in facebook
but you spoiled the surprise factor, i have read everyone saying this was so unexpected and hilarious at the same time when watched it the first time and i do agreed as well hahaha!!
My sentiments exactly. How could you not have the most fun doing this scene. Wonder what cast and Kenny Logins think of it.
Seems like a great early scene to film for cast bonding to be honest.
The way Diego is afraid when Luther starts dancing and steps back to let him space kills me every time 🤣🤣🤣
What gets me is the "Oh shit we are really good at this."
I love "GET 'IM LUTHER!!!"
I also like the moment when Klaus says "Get him, Luther!"
Five and Allison being confused in the background, and then just suddenly going with it is hilarious too!
@@Sure0Foot literally the best line in this scene
Watching and knowing what season 4 is killing me.
We need to talk about how great Klaus looks in his cowboy hat.
My guy always looks like he’s having a great time. Live like Klaus
That whole outfit! It's one of my favorites on him and it's just so appropriate for this scene lol
Lol. I agree 100%. Klaus is my favorite.
I'm diggin' Alison's cape and whole look :)
Klaus is my favourite
