I read that needle binding socks makes them "almost indestructible", so I had to see how that worked. Thank you for the great video. I'll have to watch it several times to understand how to even start the round. Thank you!
Inhave been practicing my Oslo stitch since i first found nalbinding. Only been about 4 or 5 months...I am absolutely ecstatic to find your in-the-round video! So easy to follow, I was elated!!! Tha k you so much!❤
good, only thing I could suggest is it might be good to have close ups of what you are doing and exactly what loops/stitches you are picking up which I think might help beginners.
Maybe stupid question but what size of the needle for woolen yarn size 3 or 2? 😅 Where I would use 3.5 crotchet hook for stitches to be more tight (cause it's socks) ❤
hello! to make mittens, can I use this pattern, but instead of the heel make it for a thumb (like shown in the wrist warmers video) and then continuing to the wrist? Or should a mitten start at the bottom? thank you in advance :)
Hi Miana! Good idea, yes you could absolutely do that. Some people prefer to start at the top while others find it easier to determine the size when starting at the bottom, that's up to you. Good luck!
Thanks for your suggestion Christena. I'll keep it in mind next time I sew a tunic-perhaps I'll be able to make a video! Meanwhile, here is one of my blog posts which shows how I use square underarm gussets: valkyrja.com/290220.html
I think i am being stupid, but can I ask what you mean by 'increase two loops on each round' for row 4 and 5? Does that mean increase two to every loop? I don't understand 🤦♀️ thank you for the video
Hi J B, no worries, I could have explained that more clearly! :) What I mean is that during the 4th and 5th rounds, you only increase two in total on round 4, and two in total on round 5.
@@valkyrjacom Are you saying that you increase ONLY two loops..by two stitches? or you increase every second loop all the way around the 4th and 5th rows?
Yes you can start with 12, and rather skip some of the increasing stitches if you see that it may become too wide for your foot. But it always depends on the type and thickness of the yarn you are using etc., so the sizing is definitely not an exact science!
@@valkyrjacom thank you! I am going to buy some wool tomorrow. I've been practicing the Oslo stitch, but my yarn is very thin and maybe synthetic as it will not felt a 2nd length.
I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for making it. May I make a suggestion for a future videos? It would have been easier to see if you had been using dark yarn with a white background. The contrast would have made it easier to see what you were doing. I’m not trying to be overly critical. I really enjoyed your video.
I actually also prefer to start at the bottom/wide part when making hats (I made a video for that as well which I'll post if I ever find the time to edit it), but I think learning to do a round start is useful. However, if you don't like it, then I don't see any reason why you couldn't use this recipe backwards.
Thank god! FINALLY a clear and precise step-by-step how to of a round start and how to needlebind a complete sock!!!
Absolutely! This is, by far, the best sock tutorial I have seen anywhere!

And please use a lighter color yarn! It’s much easier to see.
This is very clear instructions. Thank you ❤️
Thank you soo much for this video! I just love how clear you are with the instructions! You've helped me so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Instructions for nalbinding socks are hard to come by, so thank you for doing this!! It's been very helpful.
This helps a lot, and you give very clear instructions! Thanks. I liked the video and will definitely show to others!
so clear with the instructions. thank you, i can't wait to give it a try!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I made my first sock today!
i absolutely love your videos, i am so grateful for you and them. thank you so much for being amazing at instruction, clear and concise :)
Thank you so much Sara, I'm glad you find them helpful!
@@valkyrjacom what yarn (brand and weight) do you use?
@@thorunns.craftstudio Sorry for the late reply. I'm using Icelandic Álafosslopi which is 100g/100m!
Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
Very clear instruction. Thanks.
Thank you. I think I can try it now!
okay finally got it...4th round after adding 2 extra stitches will be 42 stitches and 5th round after adding 2 extra stitches will be 44 stitches
What yarn do you reccomend if someone is allergic to wool?
Maybe stupid question but what size of the needle for woolen yarn size 3 or 2?
😅

How many grams of this 100m/100g wool you're using did you use for the two socks?

@@valkyrjacom Thanks 😊
Thank you for this! I’m just starting with Viking Age re-enacting and I want to make socks and a hat with needlebinding
Gracias, muchas gracias; por compartir tan generosamente tus saberes, bendiciones 🌹💖!!!!
Thank you for this! ❤️
As you normally we have a needle size for yarns, can I ask which size it's this you used? I have the same number for shoes. 😊 Thank you.
The yarn is Álafosslopi, 100g/100m :) Google tells me the recommended knitting needle size seems to be 6-6.5 mm (US 10-10.5)!
@@valkyrjacom Yeah! I thought it was this yarn. 😊 Thank you. Again.

Thank you...just what I was looking for! However, you have brown work against a brown table and I can't see, lol!
Haha, sorry about that ^^ Perhaps increasing the lighting on your screen might help a bit.
What kind of stitch is this?
Thank You 💕🌷🙏!!!
If I want to make a size 42 would I make 12 starting stitches instead of 10?

@@aliciapearse7226 That sounds like a good idea - with pure wool there should be no problem merging new threads. Good luck with your project! ^^

I can’t do it. I’ve made loads of hats but I don’t do it like that. Io start of with the circumference and work in. I get in a real mess like this
