The Japanese sword-pistol is one of two models that were requested by the Imperial Cavalry School by the Army Ordnance Development Department in July 1921. One model was designated otsu, one ko. The otsu had 4 prototypes made but was dropped in favour of the ko model. The handguns were Nambu, in 7mm JAP or 8mm JAP. While there were prototypes made, the common conclusion was reached that the combo sucked. The project was terminated by the cavalry school in 1926 as not feasible. The army officially terminated the project in February 1929. Several examples of this combination weapon exist.
I mean, that should have been an issue abundantly clear to either the people who would make the swords or the guns that it wouldn't work. But bless them for trying so hard.
@@NEEDbacon Absolutely! There have been many attempts at making combination firearm-swords throughout history and they have all resulted in a sword that was not satisfactory with a firearm attached that was not satisfactory! I absolutely love the uniqueness of Japanese military firearms though.
@@forgottenrights351 Well they did add a bayonet to their machine guns... so can't be that bad. But swords for the cavalry was obviously considered necessary. Speaking of bayonets and sword, there are plenty of attempts at making sword-bayonet hybrids too, so I guess at some stage most armies tried every combo.
Hey Brandon! All polish army weapons used to be called a "wz-something" same as american army has all the "M-somethings". The "wz" stands for "wzór", which is polish for "pattern", or "model" in this particular context. The RGA-86 (pol. Ręczny Granatnik Automatyczny) is a Handheld Automatic Grenade Launcher also called a wz-86.
@@CallanElliott Also that one obviously can into space. Which makes me wonder about the pole-arm model. Maybe a middle edged one, considering the very last time I heard about polished weapons.
13:42 For clarity - "Wz" in front of polish arms stands for "Wzór" or if you prefer "pattern", it's completely agreeable to read say Wz.29 as either "Type" or "Mark" 29 as it's usually indicating the year it was designed. (in this case Wz.29 is for the Polish Mauser Carbine)
The belt fed lever action was made in England I believe to work around capacity and semi automatic weapon restrictions. There's no limit to a belt fed weapon's capacity, and lever actions aren't semi-automatic. I can't remember what the deal was with the bull pup portion of the design, maybe a necessary evil to get the belt feeding system to work with the lever action or something.
IIRC it was because its a minimum 12" barrels in the UK with 20" overall length. So essentially he was trying to make the closest thing to an SBR brits can get 😭
It is a uk build. 12" barrel minimum and 24" overall minimum. We have no capacity limits, it's a ruger so they imposed the magazine limit. He made a few box mags and then got carried away.
There aren't any capacity restrictions on firearms here, and rifles can already be pretty short (300mm min barrel, 600mm min overall), so it's fair to say the belt feed and bullpup design were included to showcase his design and fabrication skills rather than get around any laws. You're right that semi auto (centrefires) are prohibited though, so lever action is the next best thing.
From what I can tell, the K-11 was designed specifically for Armenian SF. My thoughts: they chose 5.45 for the same reasoning some U.S. SWAT departments have 5.56 bolt actions for their snipers: hostage rescue scenarios where your target isn’t super far away (100 meters and in) and the flatter-shooting, softer-recoiling, smaller projectile actually has some benefit over a 7.62mm/.30 cal round like 7.62x54R or .308 in that specific mission.
@@engineerskalinera Yorec is right. It's a low-recoil precision rifle. It lessens possible collateral damage, and the lack of recoil makes it easier to keep the scope on/near target after each shot.
@@yorecf9641 could be that they didn't at the time, or needed something cheaper or something that would work with squad logistics better. Consider that 5.45 is their standard round, and that those mags work in both their rifles and squad level automatic weapons.
@@engineerskalinera I find the former hard to believe considering the SVD has been around since 1963 and the K-11 wasn’t designed until 1996, with an upgraded version called the K-11M apparently still being used by SF. It should also be noted that SF are the only ones that have been seen using them, from what little I can find on the gun. The Armenians also have had a number of .338 rifles for some time now, including models from the UK, Russia, France and Finland. The ammo and mag compatibility is why I assume they use 5.45 instead of something like 5.56, though that still doesn’t take away from my thoughts on why they designed such a rifle in that caliber in the first place.
For the history of that lever-action-bullpup-beltfed monstrosity... It was made in the UK to circumvent certain atrocious gun laws. If that gun *wasn't* a belt fed lever action, it would have been illegal, or at least requiring to jump through a bunch of "Oi! You got a liocense for that?" hoops. So once again, you can blame the british for it, just like the Luty.
Seriously, the only mag restrictions are on a shotgun cert which is 3 rounds or less. Anything else? Go for it. Just single action only on a stadard FAC unless it's .22 LR. IIRC the maker just made that chassis because he felt like it and bodged it together out of 5mm ally plate for the linkages, the rifle is intact underneath. It may even have been made in true British fashion - in the shed after a few pints down the pub.
there is no limit on the magazine when you have a firearm in the UK. but the standard mag is something like 4-5 rounds on that gun. dont blame the maker blame out shit gun laws.
It doesn't get around any laws, it was simply the creator's vision of a cool UK-legal rifle. It falls under the same classification as any other legal rifle, so a firearm certificate is absolutely still needed, no frustrating hoops avoided.
Imagine the last thing you see before getting absolutely obliterated by the goddess of all Mini-Guns, is the giant face of a Minion from the famous animated illumination feature film ,Despicable Me (2010)
As a Polish I can agree that most of our old military equipment is called wz. (which is a shortcut of "wzór" - model in English) + usually the number reffering to year of being firstly rolled out. Nowadays most names are just made up in contests for example our new rifle is called "Grot" which translates to head of arrow, or little older and better known Beryl.
The stocked revolver isn't exempt because of production date, it's exempt because it doesn't use "fixed ammunition" aka cartridge boolets. Nfa only applies to fixed ammo guns. Still needs to go.
2:06 Actually the Ruger 96 feeds from a rotary magazine, so that part of the conversion was probably relatively easy. I think it was relatively well done, and it was kinda a work-around for British gun laws, but it's ugly.
The fact that it feeds from a rotary magazine is handled by the internal springs and mechanisms of the magazine itself. It still presents a single feed round to be extracted, which this gun has to do on top of cycling the belt.
@@NEEDbacon as a Brit (I know shame… I can’t own normal guns) detachable magazines aren’t illegal… neither are regular (non bullpupped) firearms… we can also have rifles chambered in all calibers as long as they are bolt Action, lever action Or single shot… (No semi automatic) So while yes this would be legal under uk law… this is still an abomination…
California forbids "high capacity ammunition feeding devices" and that includes belts. You can have "pre-ban" HCAFDs, and any that were acquired during "freedom week" are arguably legal, too. A pre-ban belt would be fine, but there is some debate about the legality of disintegrating links. Arguably, when you reassemble them, you've made a "new" HCAFD.

That belt fed Lever Action Bullpup is a UK/Australia legal build that guy did. They can have lever action Centerfires in the UK/Australia but no semi auto centerfires unless in Australia you have a very special license that rarely anybody can get. The UK has banned all semi auto centerfires except for semi auto rimfires, therefore Rifles like the S&W M&P 15/22 is a very popular rifle there.

The belt fed lever gat is the perfect anti gun law weapon. High capacity magazine ban? What magazine? Try to ban semi auto? Lever gat. Try to ban long rifles? Bullpup for more barrel length. Rifle caliber ban? .44. Pretty sure it was designed for a European market.
@@beargillium2369 why wouldn’t it be Cali legal? It’s not semi auto so all the fin grip requirements don’t apply. And it doesn’t use a detachable mag so the capacity isn’t restricted.

My name is Mason Mettler Mr. Brandon. I am a staunch Second Amendment and fire arm activist. I am 15 1/2 and in the future I intend on running for Congress as a libertarian Republican populist in order to repeal things such as the NFA and remove burdeness regulation on firearms and as a strong supporter of owning firearms and as a person who owns firearms with my family. I know a lot about firearms and especially learning from great people such as you. You have been an inspiration to me for many years. Since I ever subscribed to you I’ve always watched videos and you truly have taught me many things. As a libertarian I take the constitution very seriously and it is very near and dear to my heart. I look up to people like Barry Goldwater who was a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment and fought hard against LBJ’s ban on weapons in 1968.
13:13 I read an article in SOF magazine in 1982 that depicted a drawing of a similar weapon. It was a super secret prototype code named MM1 multiround projectile launcher. It was going to fire anything in a 12 gauge cartridge as a riot gun. The article claimed it would fire birdshot, buckshot, slugs, pepperballs, sandbags, flashbangs, percussion grenades, teargas, and yes, flares.

The bullpup, belt fed lever gun was made by a Brit, to fit within their loft and poorly worded laws. So yes Brandon, it quite literally does go against your personal constitution...
On that single action colt army, I didn’t even see the site until you mentioned it, I was focused on the under barrel light, and as soon as you mentioned it it became 10 times more cursed
I'd have thought that a belt fed pump would have been a better idea, especially if you could could get it to fire every time you closed the bolt, like the early Winchester pump rifles & shotguns. The Phalanx Gun System with the "Minion" disguise looked like it was "happy to see someone".
About the Japanese sword pistol, i feel like the pistol is meant as a replacement for the sword's grip (it probably broke of) as the pistol lacks a trigger and the weight of the blade would make it imposible for it to slide back
Love your videos AK Bro, I hope you prosper man. These videos are funny, calm, have enough dark humor and you've got a good taste in guns. Keep it up man. Share your passion and I gotta say you've made my day a bit less nerve wrecking. Thank you
If I recall the belt-fed bullpup is a British design to allow for large ammo capacity while remaining compliant. in my opinion it's much less cursed than California-compliant ARs.
We don't actually have any magazine restrictions here, although the Ruger 96 design does make producing a reliable, high-capacity box mag quite difficult.
Can confirm, that "starter weapon" is a 16" Heritage Arms .22. I carry the 4" variant, and would love to get my hands on their snubnose "Barkeep". BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! We also added a rifle grenade launcher on the muzzle, because if there's anything better than one grenade launcher, IT'S TWO grenade launchers! Call in the next 30 minutes, and we'll throw in a free bayonet lug! Just because you have all that firepower at your disposal, SOMETIMES you need, you NEED to poke something! You can get all this, for the low, low weight of 43lbs! *not counting ammo weight [/Infomercial voice] LMFAO
3:35 This gun is from Poland. Where you can buy black powder gun without any stupid laws. Just like you buy alcohol. Polish guns and military stuff names often start with "WZ" because its shortcut from "wzór". Wzór means pattern or model. For example, wz.96 Beryl - pattern 96 (1996 is a year of design) beryllium. We also like name guns from chemical elements.
That belt fed could actually be owned in the UK, probably the only thing going for it. But I would rather have a glock mag fed levergun if i was going that way tbh.
No, it’s a case of “fuck gun laws.” It doesn’t have a magazine, and it’s not semi-auto, so technically it’s legal to own even in England, which is where it was built.
I think the flashlight and the red dot on the one revolver would've helped Baldwin a bit more in style points for the negative points he got for friendly fire
Anyone else noticed at 6:10 that the homemade shotgun has the magazine welded in place, and that you load it one shell at a time from the bottom? Yeah it didn't make sense to me either.
To be fair, it's literally a homemade hillbilly shotgun made out in the sticks for fighting against the Burmese military. It doesn't matter if it looks ugly as fuck, as long as it shoots straight and can drop a hostile you can later loot for actual functional gear.
happy valentines day bro! ngl i use to hate you, but you won me over with your 2a love and your pretty funny. now i cant see the modern gun space without you. thanks for the content. ❤️
The funniest thing about the 'forward hand grip makes it SBR' was in the late 90s, on a whim, I bought both a KG99, and a Calico Liberty, both with forward hand grips. I had an opportunity to buy a Sile Spectre, but the mag design was a little hard to understand so I passed. I still don't know when the law changed.
It only turns into a SBR when the firearm in question starts life as a pistol. Forward hand grips are fine on rifles and shotguns but not pistols per the NFA.
That Cursed RPK also has a rifle grenade muzzle device. For when you want to launch another grenade after you launched one from the grenade launcher. Honestly I'm pretty sure they looked at how the muzzle device 'extended' the barrel and thought it _actually_ extended the rifled barrel. We are talking about the kind of people who thought the M16's forward assist was a _sniper button_ that when held down while firing functionally turned it into a bolt-action, and believed it made the 5.56 magically perform like larger bolt-action projectiles.
That RPK also has what appears to be a rifle grenade launcher muzzle off an SKS. So, he technically has two grenade launchers. Which is now making me wonder how little range those grenades would have, because he doesn't have a way to shut the gas block.
Just to add - The belt fed bullpup rifle is made in the UK by a gun owner who wanted to protest the stupidity of our Gun laws which makes semi automatic centrefire rifles illegal. Here's the original video - ua-cam.com/video/sU5qtmvwftY/v-deo.html
15:00 In desert engagements, I imagine it would be a useful set up, I mean put the parts on a M4 it would work, why not a RPK and drum mag it for the "just in case" even though drums and most extended mags have feeding issues from time to time.
The Polish firearms names starts with wz because it is an shorted word "wzór" witch can be translated to "model". So that means wz 39 is the same as M1903 when it comes to nameing

@@forgottenrights351 Well they did add a bayonet to their machine guns... so can't be that bad. But swords for the cavalry was obviously considered necessary.

@@Dorkyorcy Why? What's the point of a sword bayonet combo?
Hey Brandon!
All polish army weapons used to be called a "wz-something" same as american army has all the "M-somethings". The "wz" stands for "wzór", which is polish for "pattern", or "model" in this particular context. The RGA-86 (pol. Ręczny Granatnik Automatyczny) is a Handheld Automatic Grenade Launcher also called a wz-86.
See poland
thanks for the extra info bro nice job
Good job mate. Appreciate it
Once again, Poland is abusing consonants.
@@CallanElliott Also that one obviously can into space. Which makes me wonder about the pole-arm model. Maybe a middle edged one, considering the very last time I heard about polished weapons.
13:42
For clarity - "Wz" in front of polish arms stands for "Wzór" or if you prefer "pattern", it's completely agreeable to read say Wz.29 as either "Type" or "Mark" 29 as it's usually indicating the year it was designed.
So essentially he was trying to make the closest thing to an SBR brits can get 😭
It looks like a reasonable bid for being California legal.
There are no capacity limits on anything in mainland UK, it's belt fed because belt feed is cool.
Or it could just be an attempt at a cheap DMR
@@engineerskalinera Yorec is right. It's a low-recoil precision rifle. It lessens possible collateral damage, and the lack of recoil makes it easier to keep the scope on/near target after each shot.
@@engineerskalinera it looks like they already have Dragunovs as a standard sniper/DMR though.
So once again, you can blame the british for it, just like the Luty.
when in doubt blame the British.
@@MrGrimsmith
The EU has a 10 round restriction on magazine capacity. UK used to be part of it so that may be why.
there is no limit on the magazine when you have a firearm in the UK. but the standard mag is something like 4-5 rounds on that gun. dont blame the maker blame out shit gun laws.
Beryl's full name is "wz. 96 Beryl" so it's still in that older naming system containing year of entering service or being designed, I'm not sure.
When you come for memes but you learn a neat fact about another nations military. Thank you for sharing.

Exactly.
Could you explain how it gets around British gun laws?
The fact that it feeds from a rotary magazine is handled by the internal springs and mechanisms of the magazine itself. It still presents a single feed round to be extracted, which this gun has to do on top of cycling the belt.

Honestly I'm pretty sure they looked at how the muzzle device 'extended' the barrel and thought it _actually_ extended the rifled barrel.
