I just want to note that for two weeks Manny was the highest paid player in history when he got a 8 year/160 million contract in late 2000 Then A-rod got his 10 yr/250 mil deal
Thats cuz a-rod was a dick n made the yankees put a clause in his contract requiring him to be the highest paid player in baseball. Not 100% sure how true this is but that was the rumor back in the day.
Then they were supposed to be traded for each other in 2002 or 2003 but MLB vetoed the trade, A-Rod got traded to the Yankees instead, and Manny stayed with the Sox
@@Benjamin-1776- 1. Big Papi was never busted for steroids-that 2003 test is really dubious as even the MLB has noted, and he was never caught at any point afterwards during his prime. 2. Manny only got busted after his days with the Red Sox, when he was in decline. There is no reason to suspect he was juicing before then, especially given his physique remained more lanky than the typical bulk shown by steroids users. So yeah, it’s not remotely comparable to the Trashstros situation.
Fun fact: The Red Sox are still paying Manny's deferred salary. It's not something like the Bonilla deal, they merely deferred $32M over 16 years (2011-2026), $2M a year. Given the time value of money, it's actually a discount for the team. Meanwhile, the Mets will have paid Bobby Bonilla ~$30M to get out of paying him $5.9M in a lump sum. After 6 years, they'd already paid him more than that $5.9M, and they only made this financial calculation because they thought they were getting crazy returns... from Bernie Madoff.
Manny being Manny! Bumped into him and his crew at a shaddy night club in the Bronx in 96 and I went over to congratulate him and the dude basically sat me and friends on his table for the whole night. Back in 2014 I went to see him play in the DR league and that night he hit a 450ft grand slam and the stadium went nuts!
MVP Baseball 2005 was my very first introduction to baseball, with Manny right on the cover. Been a Red’s fan my entire life but Manny made me genuinely enjoy baseball for the rest of my life
I used to do service work at Fenway. One day I was walking by the clubhouse and Manny was standing outside it (by himself), and he was grilling me. We had an unwritten policy in the company I worked for to not approach the players. So I was following this unwritten policy and Manny just kept staring at me like he was insulted. It was very unsettling to tell you the truth. I finally said, "you're the man Manny" or something like that (it was 20 years ago). He then smiled from ear to ear, said something I couldn't understand, and then went back in the clubhouse. I guess you had to be there, but it was an interesting moment. I think his smile was even weirder than him staring at me.
You’re a very timid fellow aren’t you? You must’ve been TERRIFIED… I mean another person actually LOOKED at you and not just a glance, no not just that… they STARED! I’m glad at least you seem to be recovering from the PTSD you no doubt suffered.
Manny was a unusual guy .totally carefree and sometimes irresponsible but i think he was somewhat more of a shy and free spirited individual. He was also 1 of the best hitters i ever saw and clutch in the postseason. As a lifelong redsox i can tell you having him in the lineup with ortiz totally transformed the team .
The announcer at 1:10 has another funny line for homeruns. A really famous player Chang Taishan who went bald as he got older, so "This ball is just like Chang's Hair, it will never return!!!!!"😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not enough people talk about how unreal 165 RBIs in a season is. One of the all time greats and maybe THE BEST postseason hitter ever, as he is still the leader in playoff homers with 29
My school went on a field trip to a Sox game in my last year of junior high…on the way out of Fenway Manny almost hits my teacher in his Cadillac. She didn’t care much because it was Manny 😂. He felt bad tho. True story on Manny and his driving…almost killed my teacher 😵💫

😂😂😂 Manny Ramirez is such a legend, certainly the universe’s gift to baseball and the most eccentric player since “Rube” Waddell, a hall of famer who was one of the game’s most dominant pitchers… and would also run off in the middle of games to chase fire trucks, or would be distracted and lured into the stands by opposing fans who would hold up puppies, and who also joined the circus in the offseason to wrestle alligators.
As a diehard yankees fan; I gotta say manny was one of my favorite players on the low lol I remember the rumors of him going to the yanks and I wanted him to go to NY bad. Unmatched swagger and elite hitting mechanics peds or not.

Manny was one of my favorite players when he was on the Sox. But he was so good that it didn’t even matter…it was all just fun to watch.
I love this man and his story, u all have no idea. He was a large part of my childhood as a young baseball fan growing up in northeast ohio. Long live Manny⚾ Much appreciation for creating this💯🍻
As a Red Sox fan, dude could roll out of bed and go 3-5 with 2 homers and a double 15 minutes later. One of the best right handed hitters who ever lived. You didn't really mention the potential Arod trade that fell through, that was fascinating. As a Sox fan, the deal breaker was assaulting the old man. But for sure, Manny deserves respect as on of the best natural born hitters of all time.
Manny Ramirez could do whatever he wanted on the field. Make errors or use the bathroom in the middle of an inning. Why? Watch him swing the bat, he made a career off my Yankees.
As a life-long diehard Royals fan, Manny Ramirez is by far my favorite player of all time! The ONLY opposing teams jersey I have worn inside Kauffman Stadium. I bought tickets to every Red Sox game wearing that jersey. Yankees games too. I still have that jersey. Manny being Manny...
I had completely forgotten/overlooked the fact that Manny Ramirez continued playing baseball post Red Sox. Prior to watching this video, as far as I was concerned, he was still playing in Boston.
I grew up in Boston but the Indians were my favorite team. I would root for the sox unless they played Cleveland. I was bummed he left Cleveland but i was pumped that i would now get to see him everytime i went to fenway. He was far and away my favorite player and it drove me crazy how rough the boston press/fan base was with him. People just didnt understand him.

Bruh when Manny came to the Sox, we were SOOO excited to have him. That’s exactly what we needed….. a charismatic, big bat. Him and Pedro were the most exciting players to watch. I was at Fenway in 2010, when he returned to Boston as a Dodger. He hit a beautiful double.
I was always more of a casual baseball fan before 2020, so this is new to me, and actually insane. How did I not know manny Ramirez was crazy? I just always thought he was just a great player lol
Ramirez is one of my favorite players of all time. I'm a Red Sox fan, I hated the way he left. I'm sure that he regrets the violence he started. I'm sure he regrets the steroids. He truly was just a kid in big clothes. He was far from perfect, but he was loveable and human.

As a Red Sox fan growing up I loved Manny on the team. He brought so much life and fun to the team. Not to mention the swag he always had. He’ll always be my favorite!
This guy is the embodiment of every persons first road to the show experience 😂
I just want to note that for two weeks Manny was the highest paid player in history when he got a 8 year/160 million contract in late 2000
Then A-rod got his 10 yr/250 mil deal
that's a good line suprised he missed that
Manny was more value than ARod
Thats cuz a-rod was a dick n made the yankees put a clause in his contract requiring him to be the highest paid player in baseball. Not 100% sure how true this is but that was the rumor back in the day.
@@eaglewinnings8003 that's funny.... i can't stand either one of them, but even i know that arod can play defense, unlike Manny....
Then they were supposed to be traded for each other in 2002 or 2003 but MLB vetoed the trade, A-Rod got traded to the Yankees instead, and Manny stayed with the Sox
This guy is quite a character from a sitcom yet one of greatest hitters in the history of the sport. I loved seeing him play and wrecking the Yankees.
The team he dreamed of playing on
That clip of Manny cutting off Johnny Damon’s throw is a memory running 24/7 in my subconscious
For me, it's him stroking Tavarez's head like he's a cat.
@@Benjamin-1776-
@@mjs752002
Ah, Julian Tavarez…now there’s a tempestuous personality lol
@@Benjamin-1776- using steroids is different than having an entire sign stealing system
@@Benjamin-1776- this man comparing apples to trash cans.. LMAO
Him cutting off Damon's throw is still the funniest baseball play I've ever seen.
Definitely faded
He seems gay
In all fairness Damon's arm was atrocious. Manny's throw from his knees had more on it 😂
Manny being Manny!

"THIS BALL IS LONG GONE JUST LIKE A EX GIRLFRIEND WHO WILL NEVER RETURN!"
I can't even- 💀
“that ball is long gone just like the ex-girlfriend who will never return” wtf 😭
😂 I heard that and was like WHAT
That part about him naming both of his sons manny junior killed me😂😂😂
@@Chetanp1445
He definitely just forgot what he named his first son, let’s be honest 😂
@@warlordofbritannia lol😂😂
I replayed that part 10 times.
I’m crying
Glad to see this re-uploaded. Manny's on field skills and antics and off field nonsense will never be forgotten.

The all time leader in postseason Homeruns AND Grandslams and 2x Champ and world series MVP.
Dude was the Michael Jordan of baseball for awhile there
Manny was a unusual guy .totally carefree and sometimes irresponsible but i think he was somewhat more of a shy and free spirited individual. He was also 1 of the best hitters i ever saw and clutch in the postseason.
As a lifelong redsox i can tell you having him in the lineup with ortiz totally transformed the team .
Yup, drugs will transform things.
Manny best hitter I've ever seen in terms of the complete package. Could hit anything with power. He had really had no weakness at the plate.
He seems autistic can't grasps reality like normal ppl. And being rich made it ok
The announcer at 1:10 has another funny line for homeruns. A really famous player Chang Taishan who went bald as he got older, so "This ball is just like Chang's Hair, it will never return!!!!!"😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well…Manny was just “Manny”
ua-cam.com/video/iJvqVU8Iab8/v-deo.html
Such a lame outdated cliche
Not enough people talk about how unreal 165 RBIs in a season is. One of the all time greats and maybe THE BEST postseason hitter ever, as he is still the leader in playoff homers with 29
My school went on a field trip to a Sox game in my last year of junior high…on the way out of Fenway Manny almost hits my teacher in his Cadillac. She didn’t care much because it was Manny 😂. He felt bad tho. True story on Manny and his driving…almost killed my teacher 😵💫
Well he was a great hitter!
What a story. And what it could have been …Manny killed my teacher
what school did you go to that sounds like a cool field trip all we ever got was the science museum lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This guy was one of the funniest but also one of the most fearsome baseball players ever at the plate. A true hitting genius, and combined with Papi the deadliest one-two lineup combination I've witnessed in my lifetime. This is from a Yankee fan.
That 165 RBI season he had with the Indians in the late 90s won’t be replicated in todays game. Absolutely bonkers
That team was stacked on offense

I don't even watch or play baseball but I can't tell you how excited I get when a new video comes out
The San Francisco Giants welcome your new found fandom :)
Ok just from the first 3 minutes of this video, I feel with him, low self esteem and uncontrollable emotions, being shy af and hating socializing, bring worried im not good enough for my teams, and crying cuz I should do better. I swear this man is me
Him naming 2 of his sons manny jr fucking cracked me up lmao
George Foreman has 5 sons named George. First thing I thought of when I saw it.
Lol i thought you were actually talking about Turk Wendell, another famously eccentric weirdo.
Exactly my thought, lol. Both carefree and childlike to the extreme.
As a diehard yankees fan; I gotta say manny was one of my favorite players on the low lol I remember the rumors of him going to the yanks and I wanted him to go to NY bad. Unmatched swagger and elite hitting mechanics peds or not.

@Lighthouse in the Storm why wouldn’t he be?
You couldn’t not love this guy.
Manny is by far my favorite player EVER. One of the greatest hitters ever. It's unfortunate his career didn't last a few more years like it should have
Yo you never disappoint dude respect. My son is staring to get into baseball these last 2 years he has been playing on the team and we always watch your videos together. Great stuff keep up the good work. Baseball is back 2022 looking forward to an upcoming season
Manny was one of my favorite players when he was on the Sox. He would do these surreal things like disappear behind the green monster during inning changes, fumble balls and inexplicably cut off laser beams thrown from 50 feet away. But he was so good that it didn’t even matter…it was all just fun to watch.
Manny is one of the greatest hitters of all time and one of the greatest characters in sports history🐐🐐
I love this man and his story, u all have no idea. He was a large part of my childhood as a young baseball fan growing up in northeast ohio. Long live Manny⚾
Much appreciation for creating this💯🍻
As a Red Sox fan, dude could roll out of bed and go 3-5 with 2 homers and a double 15 minutes later. One of the best right handed hitters who ever lived.
You didn't really mention the potential Arod trade that fell through, that was fascinating.
As a Sox fan, the deal breaker was assaulting the old man.
But for sure, Manny deserves respect as on of the best natural born hitters of all time.
A Rod and Bonds were better
Thank you for posting this! I was beginning to feel self conscious for being very strange. This makes me feel somewhat normal.
He's my favorite baseball player of all time! #24 was my number all throughout baseball!!!
Manny Ramirez could do whatever he wanted on the field. Make errors or use the bathroom in the middle of an inning. Why? Watch him swing the bat, he made a career off my Yankees.
Manny was good against the Yankees I agree but The Yankees made David Ortiz a HOFer
Don't know if baseball will ever see an entertainer like him ever again. What an amazing video
He'll always be the cover star for the GOAT game of MVP Baseball 2005.
The best game ever

People just didnt understand him.
this is such a goddamn hilarious story, but this is also the best video you’ve ever produced. your narration and storytelling is only getting better, man - you love to see it
This is the best baseball video ever created! Thank you for this treat, and thank you, Manny!!
Dude was at my college a couple months back and talked to our hitters and seemed like a really chill and cool dude
His off-field antics are pretty similar to Babe Ruth
Can we all just take a moment to recognize the MVP of this video....... Mr. Japanese Announcer-san
this is my favorite sports channel on UA-cam and I've never watched a game of baseball in my life. you need to be in charge of MLB marketing
Grew up a Sox fan and I called him Manny Mamirez because I couldn’t pronounce Ramirez (I was 2 at the time) and he, Big Papi and Lazershow were and still are my 3 favorite players

That stock footage of the bus driver made me lose it 😂 thank you. Quality content.
Reminds me a lot of the legendary pitcher Rube Waddell. A brilliant player with the mind of a 6 year old, beloved by fans and drove his own managers crazy with his antics
i love this variety of person, where they're so good at what they do where they just get to fuck around and do whatever they want the rest of the time
Bruh when Manny came to the Sox, we were SOOO excited to have him. That’s exactly what we needed….. a charismatic, big bat. Him and Pedro were the most exciting players to watch. I was at Fenway in 2010, when he returned to Boston as a Dodger. He hit a beautiful double.

Manny might have had the purest/prettist swing in MLB history. He will always be loved in the Bean.
His swing does look very clean

I was always more of a casual baseball fan before 2020, so this is new to me, and actually insane. How did I not know manny Ramirez was crazy? I just always thought he was just a great player lol
He's my new hero! I can't stop laughing. Hilarious! Funny enough to buy a mannywood Dodgers jersey. Thanks for the laugh. Narration was on point.
Ramirez is one of my favorite players of all time. I'm a Red Sox fan, I hated the way he left. I'm sure that he regrets the violence he started. I'm sure he regrets the steroids. He truly was just a kid in big clothes. He was far from perfect, but he was loveable and human.
Yea but I hate how society accepts reckless antics from adult males just because they're celebrities but kids being kids is considered blasphemous.
There's a reason that they used to just say it was "Manny being Manny". There was no other way to explain his behavior. Loved him as a player though, great hitter. You can't just just cheat to be that great offensively, you actually have to have the skills otherwise you're gonna get exposed eventually but Manny was really good for a pretty damn long time.
Manny was a BEAST in Cleveland!
Yes and he batted 7th, wow
Manny was always my favorite player as a kid. I didnt understand baseball much at the time, but I loved him since he was like a real life cartoon character.
