This was my husband's ( Bob) and mine ( Annie) song. Twenty-nine years ago, my husband had a horrible accident and was in a coma for a month before passing on. Ten minutes before passing, I found out I was expecting our first child. Bobby, our son, was born on March 30th, 1992. With Bobby being born on Eric Clapton's birthday, I knew that was a "sign" from my Bob in heaven, everything was going to be okay. He knew he was a Dad. Every time I hear, Wonderful Tonight, I cry. When I was at a wedding fourteen years later, someone requested the song to be played. My son came up to me, held out his hand, and said, " Mom, I requested this song. Can I have this dance?" My poor son had to hold me up the whole entire song! I sobbed the whole way through! How could I get so lucky as a woman to have fallen for the best man in the world and to have given birth to the most sensitive young man on the planet? How lucky am I?
@@shanibmulkins - Thank You, Shani, for your prayers. God certainly blessed me in many ways. Most important, Bobby was born healthy. The icing on the cake is with each passing year, Bobby started to look more like his father. Now, as a man of twenty-eight years old. He is the spitting image of his father. Which is a great comfort to me! Still, at each wedding we attend ( I come from a large family), he always requests, Wonderful Tonight. I still sob dancing with my son. His father, I'm sure, is so proud of Bobby. He turned out to be just like him: a kind, generous gentleman.
As I read these many comments on this Eric clapton's signature piece; You look wonderful tonight, I realise that he's touched thousands of hearts the world over. He's done this song so smoothly and gracefully .
I agree with you but I believe the number to be alot higher. I'd put it somewhere around millions of hearts. But I might be bias due to the fact that his music has helped me in so many different times of my life. At times of being completely lost an having no direction to dancing to him at my wedding. He is sent from above. I wouldn't be surprised if he hides his wings under his jacket.
Once in a magical moment in time, I met the most wonderful man, a musician named Bobby. And when I read about your son at the wedding, it takes me deep into the love we had, and I can't stop crying. Thanks for sharing your amazing story.❤
Wow it’s beautiful out today that I got to listen to you and hear the news about Eric cause I know Eric is Alia your fins member if I’m not mistaken can i ask you a favor please
My girl and me had our first slow dance, just the 2 of us,a bonfire, music playing and we danced under a starry sky.Beautiful moment I can never forget. We danced long after the music was over never realised we were falling in love each moment all over again.Beautiful!

One day... my newborn baby girl was crying all day... I didn't know why... my wife was too tired to help, so I held my baby... then I played this song on my cellphone as I had her in my arms... she stopped crying and started to sleep with an angel's smile on her face... Now she is 3... every time she hears this she runs to her bed and covers with her blanket... Thank you mister Clapton... this is our song now...
My husband broke his neck in a motorcycle accident but survived. He was in a brace for months before surgery and I took care of him. While out shopping he wrote out what he wanted in his will, all his finances, etc. In case he died and he said I want you to listen to this song by Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight, as if I die I want you to know how much I love you and our relationship with each other for all these years together. His accident was over 15 years ago, we have been together for 50 years now. Still in love. Everytime I hear this song I think about almost loosing him and how much I love him and appreciate him.
I agree 100% she just added to a great song and artist it was the best back up I’ve ever heard and she’s a beautiful lady and perfect with Mr Clapton one of the BEST !!!!!!!

My mom was a huge Clapton fan, and passed that down to me. I can remember her turning this song on before bed just about every night. Every time I hear this song I’m back in my childhood bedroom, listening to her sing along in the next room after she’s tucked me in. Such great memories...❤️

Awesome song whenever I perform this is part of my show, the response is just fantastic, all the ladies love this song, and the men all turn singers even those who are tone deaf. A timeless masterpiece that showed the brilliance of the great Eric Clapton as a composer and guitarist. nuff said.
this has been my dad's alarm throughout my childhood. he would rarely be home because he worked abroad so hearing this song would remind me he was. I forgot about this song until now and I'm getting nostalgic.
I’m 66 laying in bed my wife of 32 years lay’s next to me asleep and I’m looking at her with this fantastic song playing and it’s for her.God bless everyone who’s got someone to love.
One of the truly beautiful love songs of all time. Clapton at his best and the background singers, doesn't get any better than this. Rock on and my blessings to all of you
She gave me the chills with every pitch so high. Pure energy. But you were wonderful too, Erik. You kiss wonderfully through the bars of your rhyme 🌹❤️
I JUST HEARD THIS SONG AGAIN, AND OH HOW IT MAKES ME CRY BECAUSE ME AND MY HUSBAND MARRIED 42 AND A 1/2 YEARS WHEN HE PASSED AWAY LAST YEAR, 3-13-16, AT AGE 62, LOVED THIS SONG SO MUCH. AND I ALSO PLAYED NO MORE TEARS AT HIS MEMORIAL, AND HAVE ALREADY ASKED MY KIDS TO PLAY IT AT MINE ALSO (WHEN THAT TIME COMES). FOR THE SONG, "NO MORE TEARS" I SAY RIP CONOR, AND FOR THE SONG, "WONDERFUL TONIGHT" I SAY RIP BABY. THANKS FOR LISTENING YA' ALL.
This is literally a song about the wife he was starting to resent (and later actually divorce), and how long she took to get ready. The song is very little "you look fantastic, how could I be so lucky as to get with you" and more "yes, yes, you look wonderful (can we go now? (Probably because he wanted to get to the coke)).
My husband died 2 month before. After Corona we had to tickets to see Eric Clapton. For me not possible. I gave these cards to friend and this wife. I couldn't go without my husband
It’s moreover that we reall appreciated and respected our colleagues for their efforts in this regard 😮😮have a great respect for whol you are. In fact I’ll always support Eric as well I can do
What a heart tugging masterpiece! My youngest son had this played for our mother/son dance at his wedding. He knew this song was very special to me and his step dad, who had recently passed away. We danced and I cried. ❤️
Rosa M Pelayo-Bonanno Dear Rosa....my Karen passed 4yrs and 2mths ago..she always looked beautiful after 46yrs of glorious marriage. She was quiet unassuming incredibly wise, definitely not a party girl. Her favourite moment was making a meal for our 4 gorgeous children and their offspring. I would open the car door for her always. She never expected it nor pouted if I was slow getting round....she knew I loved her deeply and laughed whenever I said Bubby you look beautiful tonight....Rosa, I share something special with you, our lost ones went loving us, not looking elsewhere for love. Now that is a treasure no one can take from us. We neither wished to go to heaven to be kings and priests with the Lord. Those ones will rule over the earth which is where Karen and I will be together again. Where “the lion will dwell with the lamb” “they will build houses, and dwell in them”. It’s well worth our waiting for that....keep strong.
The Lord can't even stop this. If he could there would be no deaths or hurting but as I see it completely opposite. He not there when we need him only when he wants to be
Your God is out of office, giving aids to little innocent babies in Africa and infesting them with larvae that hatch inside their eyes and make them blind.
"And the wonder of it all Is that you just don't realize how much I love you" This is the line that reminds me of my love, who died in 2001. He was like no other and truly made me feel like his treasured Lady.
when I was 23, I went to a wedding with my boyfriend, during the dancing, this song played. he took my hand and we slowly danced in the corner of the room. it was such a sweet moment, and we danced to this same beautiful song at our wedding.
Actually in tears here! I played pubs and clubs and any time my mum came to see me I'd play this for her, and when she passed away in 2008 after battling cancer, I had the absolute honour to play this song to her one more time at her funeral on 23/12/08,which was really hard as I was so emotional . Not normally a funeral song, but was absolutely special between my mother and myself. This song can make me sad, and other times I'll smile with joy! RIP mum, miss and love you always! #YouWereWonderfulTonight
To my husband in heaven, this song reminds me of those wonderful dances as you held me tight and whispered in my ear I love you so much sugar more than you will ever know. I felt so safe, loved and knew you would always be there but sadly I lost you so young I hold on to the memories with such songs as this remembering the love we shared as we danced into the morning sun. I loved you then, I love you now and until we meet again in heaven I will cherish this song as memories of our love linger forever in my heart still so strong! Michael❤️Pamela❤️
Oh, Jen, I know your pain. People have told me it gets easier, but it doesn't. What I have begun to experience is acceptance. I hope you will, too, for I think your love would want you to go on, just as mine did. Memories such as these bring tears, but will also bring warmth to the heart remembering how lucky we were to have found this kind of love. I, too, will see my beloved in Heaven, just as we were. I hope you hold this in your heart to carry you through. God bless your broken heart. 💔
Allan Jackson sang this originally and it is very good but this guitar playing is so outstanding it makes me cry , the guitar is talking to us, amazing amazing amazing.
Yes, this song is timeless! We renewed our wedding vows for our 25th anniversary at Tranquility Park on the Guadalupe River in Kerrville Tx in June 1997 and we celebrated our 50 in June 2022 at our 50th anniversary our children gave us. We danced to this song on both occasions. I lost my best friend and husband in October 2023. I listen to this song often because it reminds me of him. He always told me that how much this song reminded him of us.
harry me too ,,mr Clapton is a pure utter genius ,,hes so talented in every musical sense ,,hes the only guitar player in the world that can make it talk lol xx
Ahhh. I sang this song to my wife on our wedding night had my freinds band come and play . I will sing this song to her again the day before I die if I can. Love this song so much. ❤️
Great music never dies. It remains inside the heart and soul of your existence never to erased. Instead the message and art grows sweeter and absolutely indelible. A real blessing of love
the right guitar,, strings, set-up and tone dialed in and of course like you said the magic of slow hand himself Ive tried over and over, it was my wife’s favorite, she’s in heaven now, god bless
joe ive loved this guy since his beginning ,hes a complete genius ,all his sngs are a work of art , what a bloke im now 75 years young and i stll adore him lol xx
This is probably the first Eric Clapton's video I came across in 2019. I am happy to say that I learned a lot about guitar playing because of this beautiful man. Thank you for everything, Eric! Thank you very much.
There was a time in my life when I was a young man in his early 20s when I fell hard for a woman I knew. I tried for years to tell her I cared. When I finally did I was turned away and for the longest part I would listen to this song and others similar to try and cope with the pain and even imagine that one day she would change her mind. She never did and I became more or less obsessed with the idea that when the time was right it was all going to fall into place. It never did and now, 15 years later, I see all the energy and dreams I put into that one person back then was once in a lifetime as I will never feel and never felt about another woman that way again. If I could give any advice to some of you young men reaching that time in your life like I did, try to hold back and NEVER go full heart in hands until you are fully with the person you want to be with. Love is limited and you can easily overspend it on the wrong person and have no one to blame but yourselves if you give it away. This song will always remind me of her and that time and those feeling that are gone now.
Extremely well written! Portrayed the feelings very accurately. I too felt one such emotion for a woman (who was a girl, back then), which went unreciprocated. A lot of emotion was spent behind that one person over half of my school life. It’s sad when I now realise that I am no longer able to want another woman with that same fervent passion. Perhaps, it happens just once in your lifetime. ...
Aya I hear you man. I too remember when I was young and that feeling I had for another person when I was in school was pure and just the idea of that person even say hi and my name was more than enough to brighten my day. Had nothing to do with physical wants or needs, it was just so special to be liked and to like that person. Felt that way later with the young lady I mentioned and instead of holding back like I did in school, I said how I felt. To this day I can remember clear as day the smile on her face when I told her, I never felt that way for another woman since, and I think you are right, those feelings probably happen once in our lives. We may find another person some day to eventually marry or settle down with or who makes us happy, but I strongly believe, those feelings when we are you are at their purest and more and best.
So sorry my friend. God bless you too... I'm 17, and for me every time I hear this song (and I play it) reminds me of my first and current love, and hope my future wife someday... Regards
@@dErHaRd23 Did you not listen to what Peter K said mate? I'm 40. And say the same. Love your partner. But keep loving. When you got history, seal the deal. If u don't, move on and love another. :)
Katie Kissoon hits the note of the last fret (highest note) on the neck of my Les Paul guitar during her soaring vocal, concluding this recording. Probably no coincidence. Bravo Katie! Thank you Eric!
My favorite recording of this song. One of those numbers where you can hear each individual musician bring something crucial to the piece. Such mastery coming from everyone on that stage.
The beauty of Mr. Clapton is the experience he shares through his music, listen to all the love songs they sure have an essence of the soul. He's a true mastero.
Love this dong. My grandson knew it meant so much to me. Had it playerd at his 21 birthday celebration and danced with me. Also at his wedding reception. I was so surprised.
10yrs today this was me and my wife's wedding song. We are still together and she's wonderful every night. Love her more now than I ever have. Happy anniversary baby
I have been a fan of Eric Clapton for well over 40 years. Since is days with the Yardbirds etc. He struck me then as atruly iconic guitarist. Who plays from his heart and with his soul. He si still the same today. I get goosebumps every time I haear him play. More so when I sit here with my eyes closed.
I was in my teenage years when i first heard this song of Eric Clapton. He was perfect in his voice, his song & in his guitar. Who can duplicate these talents. I still enjoy playing this song reminiscing those years. I am now 66 years old. Imagine this span of time and the song is still topnotch.
This is me and my wife's first dance at our wedding. 17 years later she is still the most beautiful woman in my life and I love her more every day. I love you so very much Angie my best friend forever and ever.
My late Husband requested this song at our wedding reception and dedicated it to me since his passing I have the pleasure of our memories to this song Eric Clapton was one of our favorites
Awww, so sorry about your loss Cindy. I truly understand how it feels losing a loved one, my wife passed while having our daughter, wasn't easy for me though but I'm grateful to God for today 🙏. My deep and sincere condolences, how have you been? 🌺😢
Hello Vickie, Eric is a great guy with a lovely voice. Hope you love it? just listen with your heart and pay attention to the lyrics ok. You must have a good taste in music. I think you must be a woman with a very great sense of humor. I'll be happy to get in touch with you, if you don't mind?
Without a doubt Tears in Heaven is my favorite song. It reminds me of when I lost my Son when he was 39 years old. He was so amazing, so kind, so generous, so loving and so sweet. He was an amazing Tennis Player who played doubles with my wife and his Mother and they Won all of the local and regional tournaments in the State Championship and they Won a trip to the US Open and they unfortunately lost in the first round but I am so proud of them and I love them so much. That why the song Tears in Heaven is my favorite song.❤❤❤

OK, granny
What a wonderfully empowering song for people with disabilities. EC should be commended.
Why do you think he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 3 times? He's been quite avidly commended for his beautiful artistry.

Was he married?
when I was 23, I went to a wedding with my boyfriend, during the dancing, this song played. he took my hand and we slowly danced in the corner of the room. it was such a sweet moment, and we danced to this same beautiful song at our wedding.

Wow

This song will always remind me of her and that time and those feeling that are gone now.
gutz1981 I
Me too had same thing happened to me
Extremely well written! Perhaps, it happens just once in your lifetime. ...
Aya
I hear you man.
Love isn’t a finite resource, there’s always more and I’m sure you’ll find someone again !
