Garage, hey I would like to give you guys props for this produce. I was able to patch my fuel tank to my 1966 VW Beetle.
It’s works pretty good but I e recently found out it’s not truly permanent but will get you by for awhile. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks for this video, very helpful.
I have a 76 Honda 175 I’m going to try it out on.
How did it work?
Thanks, nice guide. About to fix a van tank someone stole fuel from.
I would definitely give it a try before dropping and replacing it. Thanks for watching.
For big repairs, or if you want extra, but JB Weld Steel Reinforced epoxy $6 and an 8sq ft fiberglass sheet for $6. Costs the same, can repair almost 10xs the area
Great job!
I used on bottom of metal tank and it failed. Possibly wasn’t clean surface but I do think it can work in right condition. Going to attempt it again tomorrow. Thanks for sharing
How it worked??
@@Amarillobymorning777 it didn’t work well on stainless steel. It gave me a few months without problems. I’m actually about to weld it next week.
@@danielely7437I'm about to try this tomorrow when the fuel gets below the hole... something rubbed a thin 'cut' in the side of a stainless fuel tank and hopefully this will hold for me until the tank can get properly welded or replaced
@@darklight4815 it worked for me for 5-6 month then it started leaking again. if its for a temporary fix, its all good
@@harfangdes3541 right on...and yes it'll just be temporary so that's good to know it'll at least work for a while
Thanks 👍
Welcome
I have put JB weld steel stick putty on my fuel tank thank holds diesel. About 10 hopes the size of a match head up to 1 the girth of a finger. I got the tank sand blasted and prepped before I put it on. So my question is how long will it last ? Any help would be good people.
Thanks for the video tutorial. Do you think this might work for a 2 stage MTD snowblower fuel tank that is leaking around the seam where the two halves of the tank are joined together? The fuel tank is plastic, so I'm not sure what the best solution is. My pack of JB Weld 2-part epoxy says it's fuel and petroleum resistant, but while searching UA-cam I found your video specifically using the tank weld product. It definitely seems to have worked for your application!👍
It did work and worked well for a little over a year. I just recently had to remove the tank and work on the carb and it was starting to release and try to peel off. However it served its purpose for over a year.
@@AutomedicGarage thank you for letting us know. Change the title and do the update - that is valuable information.
At $19 for jb weld, you should probably buy a new tank
Given your experience with JB weld, if I covered a 3-4mm layer of it around a 3D printed enclosure. Would it hold at 1000psi? I’m essentially creating a JB weld air tank.
I highly doubt it. It held on this job for about a year and then gave up.
Does it work with aluminum tanks?
Will this work on a plastic Gas Backpack blower gas tank, it has a elongated crack in it.
Not 100% sure, if it did work it would only be temporary for sure.
You think this will work for my cars fuel 5ank in the interrum while i look for a new one?
More than likely but it is temporary, worked for almost a year on that fourwheeler.
So it’s been a month how is holding up? Steel stik failed me and it’s either the tank weld or actually weld it this to around.
Doing great hasn’t leaked a drop and has been rode alot
How's it holding up I have a High density polyethylene tank with a screw holes can I use this
of course it works...it is what the product is designed to do.
Not everything works as advertised, ie flex seal.
@@AutomedicGarage I’ve been running a screen door / flex seal boat for years
@@Day12My good reply. Thanks for watching
Someone drilled a hole in my dad's car gas tank. They probably only took 1 gallon but the other 14 gallons just dumped on the street. Hopefully this works.
Do the prep work throughly and long as it’s 1/4” or smaller you should be good. Thanks for watching.
@@AutomedicGarage The tank turned out to be PE plastic which the tankweld specifically states not recommended for. We will see how it holds up, in the mean time we will think about using a soldering iron or getting a spare from the junk yard.
@@alexd4102hi. How did it hold up?
Any leaks yet some guy who installed some speakers in my car made screw holes in my gas tank..I wanna see if it works
It lasted about a year
Que es esa malla qué le pusiste?
It reinforces the epoxy. It comes with it.
Screws in the tank for some reason is because it's the best way to fix a leak! It works the same in a tyre too, pull a nail or a thorn out of a tyre and wind in a screw, always carry screws to fix leaks!
Screws might work but it would never be my fix for a gas tank on a fourwheeler my kids ride. Tank weld has done excellent and fixed the leak. Thanks for watching.
Tire...
Tyre is what most of the English-speaking word calls tires.
What about a trailer hot water tank
Probably not the best choice, the hot water tank will be under pressure, especially with heated water so I doubt it would hold.
Used on motorcycle tank. Failed quickly
It’s still holding up for me. Maybe it’s more for smaller sized holes
I had it fail on me once on a boat fuel tank but decided I'd try it one more time after I convinced myself that maybe I didn't have it clean enough the first time. That did it. If you keep in mind that it's just epoxy resin and has to have BARE, scuffed-up metal and spotlessly clean and dried (I used acetone and stainless steel (that's important) wire wheel. ) now it's stuck on there so hard I don't think dynamite could blow it off.
Holy shit you really do sound and look like hank who sells propane!!!
I don’t see it or hear it, but I must cause everyone says it. Thanks for watching.
Doesn’t work on car gas tanks. Might work for a week but it will dail eventually. I used 3 kits to patch a 3 inch crack and it failed. Looked solid too but doesn’t work.
Supposed go seal the inside with por 15
Looks nothing like my JB TankWeld. Mine isn’t a liquid.
Probably because you have epoxy putty. If you look on your package it will either say “epoxy putty” or “reinforced epoxy resin”. Putty is like play dough and sets rather quickly the resin has the consistency of syrup. Thanks for watching.
@@AutomedicGarage I’ll take a look when I get back. I was looking it up to see if it was suitable for a tank with a few rusted pinholes before treating and lining the inside. Which do you think is more suitable?
@@emmettturner9452 the only way the epoxy resin will work, I feel, is if you can have the holes facing up to have gravity help fill the holes as it dries. I’ve used the steel putty many times for other fixes and it’s done what I need it to.
The works just temporary for just like at month, not good 😥😥
Yep, it works for a temporary fix. In my case a year.
Why the stupid loud music?
Look at the comments your the only person who’s ever said anything about it but if you really want to know the reason why, I put the music there just so someone like yourself with nothing better to do could leave a comment. So thanks my goal has been accomplished. 👍
@@AutomedicGarage I think you may have forgotten the reason why we are all here. We all came here for knowledge, not entertainment. Please don't take it personally, it's just an observation
@@mikehoncho9344 No I didn’t forget anything, you forgot that you didn’t have to watch my video, you forgot you could turn the volume down if it hurt your ears, you forgot you could give a thumbs down. Instead you put a comment up that looks immature and ridiculous. When I watch something on UA-cam I think is dumb the thought never crosses my mind to act like a child and leave a comment crying and complaining. Guess that’s just the grown man inside talking that’s also telling me that replying to your comment is an even bigger waste of my time.
@@AutomedicGarage We specifically watch this kind of video to be educated, not entertained. Why did you decide make this video? Was it so you could blare annoying music at people that want to learn something? Or was it to share the little bit of knowledge that you have with others? I'm in a noisy shop, if I turn it down I can't hear what I came here for. Imagine the nerve of some people who actually want to hear what you're saying, Oh the humanity lol. You're a man-child that obviously can't handle the truth or criticism.
Lose the music for a better video IMHO.
I found it a waste to time and money.
It worked great for my purpose, fourwheeler still isn’t leaking. I can see where it could fall short on other applications but I was happy with my results for the amount of money I spent. Thanks for watching.
@terry lester it failed after about a year. I degreased the tank, filled it with water and welded the holes up. It was a good temporary fix but was never intended to be permanent. Thanks for watching.
