  • How the Mafia Stole Cuba & built a Gangster Paradise... *almost
If You thought The Godfather 2 was crazy, wait till you hear the Real Life story...
The Dark Truth Behind The Godfather 2
It’s 1946, the godfather of organized crime has just landed in Havana Airport, the first time since he was exiled to Sicily. He was then escorted like royalty to the fanciest hotel in the city, the “Nacional”, a hotel that he actually owned, alongside the Cuban president.
Now you might be thinking I'm describing the events of The Godfather 2, but what if I told you that you were wrong? This all ACTUALLY happened.
Except it was not Michael Corleone, rather the REAL godfather of organised crime Charles Lucky Luciano. As crazy as all this sounds, all these events are all based on real life. In fact, the real life events might be even crazier than what we see in the film.
So we needed to go deeper & we couldn't believe what we found.
The Godfather 2, is full of mystery and intrigue, and some of the biggest questions we all have, surround the “Havana deal”, There is ONE Particular Detail that YOU have NEVER Heard of that will change Your Entire Perception of the film as a whole, the characters and FINALLY make Everything make sense.
But First, We'll Need to understand what exactly the Havana Deal Really was, to then Comprehend why this Hidden Fact is so significant on the entire Story...
It's truly INSANE that THIS is real, You won't BELIEVE what actually happens...
So join us, as we unveil the bizarre story of how the mob attempted to build a “gangster paradise” in the middle of the Caribbean, partnering with a president, and later watching it burn to the ground. A deal worth BILLIONS of DOLLARS 💰 Where, What started as a dream come true, would soon turn into the mob’s worst nightmare. Influencing world events and changing the course of world history.

The government had no problem with the mob until JFK and Bobby came along and look what happened. The CIA who was also targeted by the white house made how many deals with the mob to try and take out Castro? Who do you mean by government? Are you under the impression that every agency get along ? Also before you think I'm making it up this isn't my opinion or me digging... it's declassified documents. Hoover and the FBI left the mob alone, JFK tried to take down the CIA, the CIA hired the mob to kill Castro because they were running Cuba, JFK won the election because his dad made a deal with the Chicago outfit to influence the state of Illinois but crossed them and now Cubans hate Americans. Who was competing and about what?

While Luciano thought Vito Genovese had tipped off the U.S. government to his whereabouts in Cuba, he did not live to learn that it was "Joe Bananas" Bonanno who revealed to New York City newspapers as to Luciano's whereabouts in Cuba in February 1947.

In my opinion, Don Bonanno always had a vendetta with Luciano, to avenge his Godfather, Don Salvatore "Little Ceasar" Maranzano. Howevr, he didn't want a Castellamaresse War Round 2. So, he was waiting until an opportunity comes up. And it did. The Havana Conference. He had to make Luciano weak, before he could strike, so he informed the US authorities. 2-THAT WHETHER THE FACTS FULLY MERIT THE COMPARISON, AND LACKING NUANCE OF COURSE , MIGHT SUCCINCTLY DESCRIBE SOME OF THE CAUSES (NOT GIVING CARTE BLANCHE THOUGH) TO ALL PAST BLOODY REVOLUTIONS: FROM CAIN KILLING ABEL(just like that sounds), TO THAT OF THE PATRICIANS AND THE PLEBES, THE FRENCH, THE BOLSHEVICK AND THE CUBAN ROBOLUTIONS TOO.

coming from a Cuban whose family lived in Cuba Pre, During and Post revolution... This history take on Castro, Bautista, the people and the revolution is EXTREMELY flawed. The majority of cuban people did NOT support the July 26th Movement (Fidels Movement), thus why Fidel never held elections for "his position" as a candidate, because he knew he would have not had a chance to win... Was Cuba perfect prior to Fidel NO, but Cuba had the highest GDP in Latin America, Highest Life Expectancy in Latin America (same as the US) and people were free to travel and conduct business.. unlike what the regime allows today. Ooop! Failed attempt to be president? In 1940, Batista won legally and by a majority. Communists were in his government and Cuba changed for better. Maternidad Obrera, a hospital for pregnant women, who by Law, would keep their jobs after having a baby, as well as popular projects of housing in small towns happened with his government. In 1940 Cuba created a real Constitucion, more modern and just than the USA;s. Cuba had Trade unions in almost all kinds of jobs, from the Sugar and TObacco companies to barbers, artists and almost every worker. What a shame that the USA declared an arms embargo in 1958 against Batista, allowing an easy victory for Fidel Castro, one of the worst dictators in Human History who forced us to fight in proxy wars in Africa while Cuba remained occupied by the former Soviet Union. I know. I saw the Ruskies soldiers in my hometown for decades.

You can't make a documentary about the mob in Cuba without including the number one liaison...THE GUY the others went thru simply because of his close proximity and his ability to speak SPANISH..Tampa boss Santo trafficante..they were doing business down there before anyone else, the mafia used him as the go between..he was the one who was arrested, jailed and was set for the firing squad before his lawyer saved him...he was the one the government recruited to kill Castro,he isn't the sexy name nor did he have the biggest family but his influence and power was legit,it's also largely believed he and Carlos marcello the new Orleans boss were behind the jfk hit ...if Santo isn't a big part of this doc..you didn't do your homework..put some respect on his name

Legit? So, The Mafia is LEGIT? “The Economic Blockade that United States imposed on Cuba, and which has been uninterrupted for more than 60 years, is product of the revenge of Dulles brothers against Fidel Castro, as a result of Castro expropriating the United Fruit Company (UFCO), more than 50,000 hectares of cultivation (Sugar Cane). Allen Dulles (CIA Director), and his brother John Foster Dulles (US Secretary of State), were a shareholder in UFCO, and were on the payroll for more than 20 years. Both Bros. demanded payment from Cuban Gov’t for the land expropriated at ridiculously high amount, when United Fruit Co. had obtained these large estates for $7 dollars per hectare and demanded compensation for $4,800 dollars per hectare. Castro was also asked to pay the cost of hotels, houses and casinos owned by the New York Mafia and other figures of high politics in the US. As Cuba does not pay, the Economic Blockade continues. “If we can't assassinate Castro, let's assassinate his economy”. Now, 12 Presidents have passed in the White House, and the Blockade continues. Castro, Dulles Bros., Kennedy, LBJ and all that generation have already died; they are no longer here. And the Economic Blockade continues. Why? Why, if Castro NEVER affected the interests of the US people? Castro affected the interests of the New York Mafia, the UFCO and the interests of the Dulles Brothers. The Castro Gov't affected the interests some companies (6 companies), that conspired to assassinate him, but not affected the US People. (It would be an example to say that Mexico imposed an Economic Block on the US, cuz the US Gov’t confiscated properties from “El Chapo”, or from the Mexican Drug Trafficking Cartels). Castro never seized property from US citizens. Castro only seized the property of the New York Mafia. So, why? If perhaps the reason for the Blockade was cuz Fidel Castro was an ally of USSR, well, USSR has not existed for more than 30 years either. Then why? What is the reason for continuing with this Economic Blockade against Cuba? The answer to these questions, in any case, would be: "Cuz a dark power within the US wants to impose itself in Cuba, violating its sovereignty, in the same way that it has done and continues to do so throughout the world with the weakest nations". No common citizen of the US has anything against the Cuban people, but a certain sector of the Government's High Politics does…” Now, If you want to know about the atrocities and massacres of the UFCO and the CIA in Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Cuba, all the Caribbean and Central America, consult Wikipedia: “Wars of the Banana Republics”. Meir Lansky lost a fortune on the "Habana Riviera" located on the Malecon. It had been open only a few years before the revolution in 1959. He stayed on there after the revolution hoping to reach some accomodation with the Castro regime that would let him continue to operate it, to no avail. As a practical matter, without a steady influx of U.S. tourists, it was doomed anyway. This is a fascinating story. I wish you'd cover this.
Later on, Meir and his wife tried to live permanently in Israel under the "law of the return". The Supreme Court of Israel heard his appeal of the government's expulsion order, and upheld it. He was eventually arrested at the airport in Miami after a worlwide jaunt looking for another safe haven. He was not gunned down at the airport like Hyman Roth.

Batista was the man that allowed all this to happen in the first place. Batista and Meyer Lansky started to do business early in 1934, shortly after the 'Hotel Nacional' was built. They both had invested in the Nacional's casino. He joined the army in the 20s and when he was only a sergeant led a coup in 1933 that overthrew the government of the vicious and cruel president Gerardo Machado. Since then he became the most powerful man in Cuba and also one of the richest. Imagine, to be a mobster that also happens to be a sneaky politician, a general with great leadership, a crooked business man and a cold blooded murderer. By the way, he was denied membership to my grandfather's yacht club because of the color of his skin (he was mulatto). He may have been the most powerful man in Cuba but the Cuban aristocracy was racist and despised him to some degree

This is misleading. In 1946 Batista was no longer president [he had been democratically elected in 1940, but the Cuban constitution limited presidents to one term], and he was not controlling things from behind the scene because his preferred candidate in the 1944 election (Carlos Zayas) had been beaten by opposition candidate Ramón Grau. Of course, neither Grau nor his successor Carlos Prio were saints, and were open to Mob investment in Cuba as a way of boasting the economy, but it is unfair to lay the whole blame at Batista's feet. Most all Cuban politicians were corrupt to some degree, which is why Castro was able to gain much popular support for his rebellion in the late 1950s.
