Glad it worked out and you were able to keep it out of the landfill. Cheers

A outside mold and mildew spray would have really helped. I treated mine and it all washed right off.

Oh, interesting! I used that on a cedar wood fence after a handyman told me about it. I'd never make the connection to use that here.

Have the exact same umbrella and canopy color. We too, left it out all winter. Mildrew and Ash stains that won't come out. Tried washing and soaking it in oxy and some bleach...still stained. Thank you for the dying process!

Prepare a solution of 1 cup bleach and ¼ cup mild soap per gallon of clean water.
Allow mixture to soak into fabric for up to 15 minutes.
Clean with a soft bristle brush.
Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
    Air dry.
    Repeat if necessary.

Manufacturer of my umbrella cover says to spot treat and that a washing machine will stretch out the fibers. I just spot treated with a little laundry soap and water at the edges where dirt collected.Think Wet and Forget is a good method to try before usng a light bleach soak (if i had the mildew issue).

Oh my goodness... God bless you for your perseverance! I would have been sick to think it didn’t clean off after the second try!
We have a rail fence dividing the Town Park and our back yard. We painted it a sage green because we were so sick of the “green slimy mold every spring”. We either had to try and wash 100’s of feet of fence or paint..... so with the fence painted green, we don’t notice it as much...LOL!!!! But it is under a row of tall pine trees. All that work right? LOL!!!
    So grand save !

I love this video! (This is the type of thing that always happens to me--projects rarely go as planned...) Not what I expected, but I love your ingenuity--I never would've thought of that! I wouldn't have a place to hose off the dyed version. So glad you didn't just toss it!
