I absolutely love the golf patch ones! I'm a very pale red head who deals with rosacea so by default i'm a sun protection junkie. I bought them last summer when I was in the pool all day and they lasted just about all day even when they got wet! This in conjuction with sunscreen and a big hat was exactly what I needed to protect my face from the sun! 10 out of 10 the golf patches are the best!
I don’t understand these. Isn’t your forehead, nose, chin, and lower cheeks still susceptible to the sun? It seems these patches only cover and protect the upper cheeks
She said you can see it up close though so idk how comfortable I’d feel talking to people up close with it lol, I’ve tried clear pimple patches before with makeup over & hated it
People buy these for beauty to prevent freckles not to prevent overall sun damage. These products don't make sense at all for people who're looking for actual functional sun protection.
I think the current product is a nice milestone. I agree with your conclusion with heavy emphasis on people who spend a lot of time outdoors - especially the reusable sun patches. I wonder what the long term effects of using these patches are. I know some of them have skin care feats, but will they be able to prevent acne? I would be concerned about congestion of sweat and oils underneath or maybe even fungal acne (i’m not an expert in the causes of these types of acne but i know i used to get of forehead and hairline acne when wearing hats and sweating). I am also biased in my opinions about the reusable products, because I think technology should be able to enhance what is exists already. For example, I’m not going to limit my facial movements for talking and expressions because I want to keep the patch in place. I also don’t want to keep checking it to make sure it’s taught or smooth. Maybe I would consider the reusable patches if I were on an outdoors adventure alone… which is rare :/ I’m very curious to see what other prototypes there are, especially if they’re along the lines of the franz sun patches! ☺️
Anti UV hats seems more suitable for me, for outdoors activies. Some will cover your all face and neck leaving a small window to see, that you could cover with sunglasses. It will be cheaper and more efficient.
I do mountain bike meaning sometimes I get a lot of sun exposure and will definitely be trying the clear ones on the areas I tend to get more hyperpigmentation as a reinforcement to my sunscreen. 🥰
My friend helped me to buy the same of these UV protection patches in Japan. It's their local products that have been around for a while. it's exactly like the Franz one but so so so much cheaper. The catch is that it looks like a roll of tape :)) so you have to cut to how you like it to be. not as fancy as Franz. but u save a ton
I think that the technology is interesting when it comes to these patches, but that’s about it. It’s a lot of waste, it quickly gets expensive except for the re-useable. Btw, does it say on the package how many times you can use them? Over all it’s a no for me, but I’m excited for what’s to come in the future of sun protection. 💕
I was thinking the same thing! 🤩 i definitely want to try it on my shoulders too since i get burnt there the most lol Could I ask what music festivals you’re attending for summer? I’m gonna get some of these to try for bonnaroo since it’s peak summer 🥵
Thaaank you Ro! Can you talk more about the breathability about the patches? I know you touched on it being a treatment, may come off when sweating, etc, but does it feel like someone would break out in acne with repetitive use?
On beach holidays I use k-beauty sun patches on my cheek area on top of my mineral sun screen as I have melasma and don’t want to take chances (I also use a wide brimmed UPF hat)
Yes insofar as the area is covered / protected. I have found them helpful and I am not self-conscious wearing them. Even managed to covert a couple of (female) family members!
This product makes no sense. One of the drawbacks of sunscreen when it gets very hot is that suffocating feeling. These patches are even worse than sunscreen, especially with sweat. These patches would be a sensory nightmare. People will be less inclined to reapply sunscreen, if they have to also deal with reapplying it around patches. The most vulnerable, wrinkle prone areas of the face are still exposed, so what's the point? I don't think most people desire to combine treatment with sunscreen especially when it's very hot outside, and would prefer to administer treatment as a separate step when they aren't dealing with the sun. A plain old effective sunscreen would offer better protection for the entire face. Reapplication would be necessary with or without these patches, so again...what's the point? This seems very gimmicky.
It’s usually the chemical ones that can cause your skin to heat up. Physicals don’t do that :) Colorscience is nice for all minerals and looks like makeup!
Thanks for your insights :) as someone whose partner golfs, he enjoys wearing a hat more and would likely be interested in trying the patches. they are very expensive at the moment, will probably get him to wear sunscreen and reapply / find shade + wear a hat when sun is hottest (12pm to 4pm)
This is amazing but if I stay indoors all the time can I just wear these and be protected because I break out so badly from every sunscreen I really hope someone knows the answer🎉❤❤❤❤
I got some included in a Stylevana box (Heimish). The patches are thick and pretty obvious, but wearing sunglasses helped conceal them a bit. I would not wear them in my day to day life, even if I lived in a sunny country, because they look a bit silly and are wasteful and expensive. I admire people who would wear these and not feel embarassed. I would wear these to the beach or on a hike/run. When I exercise, my cheeks become very red and dehydrated, so I felt like these patches were great at retaining moisture.
I have sun allergy, i just wear a big hat, long sleeve, spf 100+ and if i have to do a long walk i have my sunshade. I have rosacea, sebderm & fungal acne these patches look nightmarish for my skin 😅
I'd be interested due to my rosacea. Even with two layers of SPF 60, my face can still react 😢. Perhaps these could be a good alternative on those super sunny 🌞 days that I *have* to go out.
I recently bought some patches from Heimish! I haven’t tried them yet but I want to use them since I go running a lot. Just another brand recommendation if you haven’t tried them :)
I see ppl wearing face gaiters at the beach. It's giving the movie spring breakers vibes but i could never wear that im too intimidated. I did however buy a sun shield like korean women became known to wear .face shield for uv protection and some covid protection.
love the idea of these but as im on a plastic free journey these would be a nightmare 😂 also not sure what the point is if youre putting suncream over it anyway? 🤔unless im missing something
i definitely want to try a sun patch, but my biggest worry is that i'm gonna have tan lines around these patches 😫 i tan sooo easily and am so scared that i'll have a triangle spot on my cheeks
i have a question.. why do i get tan even after applying sunscreen? like i genuinely want to know .. i have really oily skin but i use a sunscreen which is suitable for my skin still i ended up with a little bit of tan the other day
the problem w these is because they aren't for your whole face, you still have to reapply sunscreen overtop during the day if youre out. is it just for like ultimate protection in certain areas?
Weirdly I almost feel like I'd be more likely to wear something like the reusable patches or mask thing if it WASN'T skin colored 😂 like if it was a fun pattern or color it could be a little like a sun protection accessory but the skin color makes them look creepy and they don't actually blend in to your skin the way the first ones did, especially because there's such a wide variety of human skin tones Edit: I thought of a good comparison which is pimple stickers. You have the clear ones and the ones that look like fun little stars or hearts or whatever. You don't see flesh colored acne patches because that's kinda gross 😂 I think they should try making ones that aren't trying to blend in to your skin or make them clear so they actually blend in
Sorry, sunscreen is a daily need. I can't buy a single-use, single plastic packaged item that regularly. Maybe occasionally for high exposure days (i do get a sheet mask treat every 1-2 months, so i won't pretend to be that conscious) but it just doesn't feel worth it, especially since most of these aren't even protecting the nose bridge
This does not look comfortable at all. What happens when you smile? does the patch wrinkle up, does your face feel like there is tape on it. I will use regular sunscreen!
Thank you for your honesty. I was going to rant about how not sustainable they are, but you didn't forget to point it out

Tbf you don’t have to reapply though so it’s like extra protection especially for someone like me that wears makeup & can’t really reapply
She said you can see it up close though so idk how comfortable I’d feel talking to people up close with it lol, I’ve tried clear pimple patches before with makeup over & hated it
the upper cheeks are the parts that are prone to brown spots and melasma
People buy these for beauty to prevent freckles not to prevent overall sun damage. These products don't make sense at all for people who're looking for actual functional sun protection.
My cheeks are most susceptible-I suppose these would be good for the beach or water sports if they’re waterproof

This is so interesting. Really glad you shared a video about these patches.

I'm definitely going to use the for outdoor music festivals

Thank you for your very thorough review and actual wear tests and actually using a UV camera too!!

Do the patches protect the area from further pigmentation?
Yes insofar as the area is covered / protected. I have found them helpful and I am not self-conscious wearing them. Even managed to covert a couple of (female) family members!

i didn’t know sun patches is a thing till i saw this video. thank you so much!!! i just found out i have sun allergy so this is soooo helpful!
How many time can you use them? If only once that it is so wasteful 😢
This is amazing but if I stay indoors all the time can I just wear these and be protected because I break out so badly from every sunscreen I really hope someone knows the answer🎉❤❤❤❤

Same is feel like..I would start sweating really bad underneath them😂
This is so crazy!
I love your channel it is informative and I can’t wait to try out some of your recommendations ❤🎉😢
I'd be interested due to my rosacea. Even with two layers of SPF 60, my face can still react 😢. Perhaps these could be a good alternative on those super sunny 🌞 days that I *have* to go out.
I got a whole set of sun patches for my b-day month ago and i was like, tf should i do with it. Now i know thanks.💋💋
I recently bought some patches from Heimish! I haven’t tried them yet but I want to use them since I go running a lot. Just another brand recommendation if you haven’t tried them :)
Loving your haircut in this video! 🇨🇮🇵🇷🇺🇸💚😎
This seems like a great option for when traveling to hot destinations (we cruise a lot to the Carribean) and I have Melasma on my forehead and cheeks.
Why is there not a full patch mask for the translucent patches? It seems so weird to only cover a very small percentage
so much waste...
Yeah, a lot of plastic per use
I see ppl wearing face gaiters at the beach. It's giving the movie spring breakers vibes but i could never wear that im too intimidated. I did however buy a sun shield like korean women became known to wear .face shield for uv protection and some covid protection.

I think because our skin excretes oil, breaking down the spf overtime, whereas when it's on the patch, there will be no need to reapply
Where did you get the acrylic shelves in the wall holding your face products? Thank you!
Do u think any will last while surfing ?
i definitely want to try a sun patch, but my biggest worry is that i'm gonna have tan lines around these patches 😫 i tan sooo easily and am so scared that i'll have a triangle spot on my cheeks
"are you wearing Doritos?" 😂😂😂
What do those patches do? Why wearing sunscreen on top of it?
How do you figure out about these trends?
i have a question.. why do i get tan even after applying sunscreen? like i genuinely want to know .. i have really oily skin but i use a sunscreen which is suitable for my skin still i ended up with a little bit of tan the other day
You are lucky you tan and not burn!
your sunscreen might have worn out throughout the day. you should be reapplying your sunscreen every 2 hours.
Writing this comment just because I definitively want to see ro wearing that serial killer's sun patch 😂😂🤣🌞
I wonder if these might be worn while recovering from a facelift to help disguise things?
the problem w these is because they aren't for your whole face, you still have to reapply sunscreen overtop during the day if youre out. is it just for like ultimate protection in certain areas?
Are most of the sun patches shown reusable or only the Sun Patch one is reusable?
Anyone knows if this patch safe for acne prone skin?
With all the people in my friend group having mohs procedures, I think a nose patch would've come first.

Are these sunscreen patches suitable for very hot humid weather??? You know...for
the south-east Asian summer months' climate!
Hats?
Dayum, I'm early and watching! Hi!
Maybe for a long car travel, nobody cares if I am looking pretty ☺🤣
On a golf course...ok..out shopping on the street....hell no... I wouldn't be caught dead with it on !
I would consider wearing one if they had one for the nose cause that's a part of the face that's very sensitive to the sun
I would think about the clear patches but the other ones, hell no.
Interesting

All of these is a no for me, but this was fun to watch.
It just seems like an unnecessary gimmick and another way of creating waste.
Nice, so invisible
Uhmm…wuuuh
Very bothered by how wasteful some skin care products can be. We should always consider sustainability before making a purchasing choice.
This does not look comfortable at all. What happens when you smile? does the patch wrinkle up, does your face feel like there is tape on it. I will use regular sunscreen!
No thanks
