I live in russia, and the season is over and snow is everywhere, so i just watch skate vids and cry Edit: relatable huh? Lol thnx for the likes. We do have indoor parks but they charge for entry (which is fine) and it gets really crowded sometimes. It's really not the same is what i'm trying to say basically. I used to do mountain skiing with my family, but I am yet to try snowboarding. I hope the little skateboarding skills i have will translate somehow
@@daledecker But I know from friends, that as soon as you can ollie, it's hard to do ollies like a beginner because the movement is just stomped in your brain so much 😂
Just tried this at my local park and it works - I'm not about to claim I've got it perfectly down but probably the highest and smoothest ollies I've popped. Peace out.
Huge thing that helped me re-learn ollies at 32 recently was back foot placement and timing. Popping directly down from basically the middle of my tail, and making sure the motion of sliding up and raising your back foot is smooth 👌
Pipo Hippo don’t discredit other skaters. We’re all skaters here. Braille’s a bit more beginner, this is a little bit more advance. That’s how I see it. Nothing wrong with being either of the two
Knight The thing with braille is... Aaron’s a scientologist. But atleast he doesnt preach about it. He e-begs though and used the money for his church, so it feels weird supporting braille
I think there is a bit more to it. Also, need to make sure that your body weight is in the right position. How your body elevates according to the timing of pop and how your arms eventually help elevate your body and make it sync with the pop. I have been skating for 16 years but I`m still practising ollies sometimes, just in order to experiment in different ways. And lastly, if you are jumping from an uneven surface then the whole thing just lot more different. btw if I`m not warmed up, I just can`t ollie near anything high : ) Great video after all, keep it up : )
Will your clothes make all the people at the Santa Rosa Junior College think I'm cool? Lots of the people there aren't kids so I need all the adults to think I'm cool.
I've been watching these so much because I used to skate and just bought deck for summer and wanna try to actually re-learn how to skate. So thanks for these, they really inspire me! Cheers from Finland
It's a honest simplefied good explanation . You do need to jump with the backfoot before the board goes up so the motion with your tail and back foot go in a fluid motion up. You see that at the last olie he did.
Such a good trick tip actually!! I'm working on tucking my legs more to get them out of the way and this is a great way of putting it into understanding 👌👌
Dude Dale, You should know where the Grog Shop is in Coventry OH. I lived right down the street from there and one of my friends that lived in the area actually live in a closet for a whole year. Only reason I bring up Coventry, if you've been down there you know how big those apartments are. The closet was so big he could fit his bed and a small night stand that doubled as a TV stand and dresser. I wish I got pictures of it. It looked awesome.
Spencer, how long did it take you to get your ollie's like that? it took me about 5 months to get my ollie and its probably about 8 inches or so right now. I really wanna improve it before I start working on new things.
Over a year later and still learning from this. Kuddo's guys. I'm still having trouble with my rolling ollies. I still have to build that muscle memory I guess... does speed have anything to do with ollieing higher or is that only for distance?
I feel like when beginners learn to Ollie. There just getting the timing when the JUMP wrong. They Pop, Drag, and then try to jump.☝️You pop, drag whilst jumping instantly after you have poped.🤘🏽
Lol I've been trying forever to learn to ollie. Just learned to drop in on 7ft ramps but hard to progress into better things not knowing how to ollie. I'll try it with the ninja kick though, maybe that's what I'm not doing cause I think I just bring my legs up.
I've noticed sometimes my timing is great and then the ollie goes like three times as high with the board sticking to my feet. Pretty rad stuff. Definitely a timing thing.
I'm trying to learn to ollie, but I'm confused about whether you jump with both feet off the board and then in mid-air pop the tail, or are you popping the tail and then jumping off the ground with the rear foot? I've heard people tell me both ways and I don't want to learn incorrectly.
Damn . All those years of skating in the mid 80s and 90s I was doing Ollies all wrong. Figures now that I’m 45 and wouldn’t dare try to skate again now I finally see the way your actually supposed to do it. Now I’m bummed because I want to try this now but can’t
ive skated for years but never really "practiced"....my issue with ollies and kickflips is sending the board forward...but i also have no tail...so my pops go straight verticle almost....my pop shuvs are insanely high tho...like 2 feet
His ollie is damn good.
Thata called perfection
"Years of academy training... became useful."
0:25 "I love spencer to death--" *blood curdling scream*
HAHAHAHA WTF
lmao xD

DOES 20 CM OLLIE
I'm a beginner and I ollie like 5 cm high 😭😂
Hahaha

i ollie 35 cm, in 2 weeks
Ollie with your opposite foot in front. It’s like becoming a beginner all over again.
guille I think I might know you
Did anyone else feel like that was the shortest 10 minutes ever?

j'ai commandé l'eau idk y’all probably skipped to 3:53 😂
Cuz the actual point of the video took forever to start
no
Bahah right so annoying.

cant wait to try this

Lol I can already Ollie properly but this is legit the best explanation of Ollie's on UA-cam
"HOW TO OLLIE THE EASIEST WAY" No
"The most functional way to ollie" That's it
Huge thing that helped me re-learn ollies at 32 recently was back foot placement and timing. Popping directly down from basically the middle of my tail, and making sure the motion of sliding up and raising your back foot is smooth 👌
These types of videos that dale makes are better than Braille tutorials lol
Pipo Hippo don’t discredit other skaters. We’re all skaters here. Braille’s a bit more beginner, this is a little bit more advance. That’s how I see it. Nothing wrong with being either of the two
Pipo Hippo no kidding Einstein
Braille make nothing but rubbish and click bait for kids
Knight The thing with braille is... Aaron’s a scientologist. But atleast he doesnt preach about it. He e-begs though and used the money for his church, so it feels weird supporting braille
Olle Braille is dumb. All he says is practice and literally gives no help what so ever
This by far is the best explanation for an Ollie I have ever seen! It is so smooth & perfect. Now I know what a proper Ollie is supposed to look like.
perhaps the clearest technical ollie explanation I've seen. Nice job!
Sick dude glad you liked it!
Do you ever feel like a rocket ollie, rolling thru the style, wanting to bone it out?
I could watch 7:13-7:14 at x.25 speed for minutes.. oddly satisfying.
Forsaken Pixel Nagisa the smooth change in movement does it for me
Wassup Niggasa how’s being died going
drifting high enough epic

Max Sharpe exactly, this is important too 😂
Physics with Professor Barton is my fav class
Agree, that's the proper way to Ollie

Santa Rosa is awesome

That was the best explanation of an ollie I've ever heard and I've been skating for 15 years.
Give the seasaw speed cream and watch the kids fly
The kickflips tutorial thing actually helped me get my kickflips better and more consistent
this is hella useful thanks
*there’s just something so 😍 about the sounds at **3:33** and counting*

Thanks to Dale's videos and braille I'm getting back into riding a skateboard again I left 22 years without skating.
A helicopter drove by. Hmmm. Lol
When you said “Thats the thing” I got a deadpool ad where he said “This thing?” Ahaha
i fucken love that scream as you say 0:25 "you get the point"..... "AAAAHHHHHHHH"
I'm done!! ahahahaha
Best ollie vid yet imho, made sense and the slow mo showed it perfectly thanks.
I've watched a couple videos about this, but you guys did the best job breaking it down. Thanks!
It's a honest simplefied good explanation .

very insightful. I never realized this was done for function and not for fashion.

I'm getting dad vibes from Spencer. Like he's teaching us children how to ollie. Lol
It would be interesting to se difference between high and low trucks, when doing a ollie.
Make a vid on how spencer ties his shoes
That was sarcasm right? His laces are ripped from skating lol
chowdermonsterr obviously you chum bucket

"Can I rent some of your body?" -Dale Decker, 2018
i miss those kind of videos
another good tip is, jump and pull your knees up to your chest, so the board is not limited by your weight pressing down on it
Honestly I really appreciate the ending of this video
Snappin' those ollies!
In my opinion dale is one of the coolest skaters
Damn . All those years of skating in the mid 80s and 90s I was doing Ollies all wrong. Figures now that I’m 45 and wouldn’t dare try to skate again now I finally see the way your actually supposed to do it. Now I’m bummed because I want to try this now but can’t
