THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m 49 yrs old... I’m kick flipping before I turn 50. Starting tomorrow.
13clicks ! Dude trust me it took me a year to learn slow and steady working up form Ollie’s to 180s and eventually kickflips now I just learnt them
Never give up I made my shins bleed but it was worth it to me and it will make you so mad but never give up on them 😅
Me too i can't kickflip i tried to fliping the board but is very difficult ,
It's a good goals but i think it's a bad idea skating juste for kickflip, need to enjoy every seconds during skating, don't juste force you to do one thing.
xX_DarkBountyX2009_Xx xHDNoScopPussySlayerDu50x yeah and doing just flips Will destroy plenty of shoes
starting today
I'm 99 yrs old... I'm kick flipping before I turn 100. Starting tomorrow.
You got this, I believe in you bro 🙏🙏
Good luck bro
Good luck
board slide your casket when you’re a ghost
Nah this man is copying a guy that said he is 49 and will kickflip before 50
Dale every half a second
*”wAS THaT gUD?”*
Literally hahhaha
Legit I used to have some gnarly kickflips but now they're fugly af. Its gotten to the point where my switch flips are way cleaner 😭😭
Samee 😭😭🍻
It's that front shoulder, don't open your body up, that'll make you not pull them up and flick too early. Try starting out holding your front arm across your body .
i gave up on this trick...i had them almost perfect...than lost them....but my heelflips are loyal
Tuna No Crust the same for me lol
I cant heelflip at all but I can nearly kickflip
I got kick flips down but my hoes ain’t loyal
For me it’s 50 50 I find heel easier to flick but harder to land and kick harder to flick and easier to land
James Hamlet couldn’t have said it better myself
when i think too hard on how to kickflip I usually land primo. all i try to think is pop really hard and flick fast but when it slaps your back foot its a good feeling no doubt
How I got my kick flips is I pop and flick like an Ollie and I love them
Eric Dominguez bro ur lucky as shit, it’s not a simple for me, I have to like do a shove it then kick it
Bro PLEASE PLEASE tell me how u get is to slap ur back foot i need those kickflips
@@justwhatever6923 first you need a really good Ollie
Eric Dominguez im an intermediate skater im good i just stop kickfliping because I learned other tricks and shit and now i land primo whever i do one
pop, bend front knee up, then flick. there ya go thats the secret
Thnx
Perfectly said
10 mins for nothing uhhh .... just kidding i love your vids
Instructions unclear did a lazorflip instead
prodandmullen thank you so much I’ll pass on your good deed
This made me feel so much better about my progression. Ive been able to kickflip for 7 years but they never looked pretty. I've decided to reteach myself to kickflip, put my ego aside and watch tutorials again, even after skating for 13ish years. I had a bad habit just like Dan, and always flicked to early and out instead of forward and delayed. Relearning muscle memory is a challenge. Great video. They already feel better!
Lol wtf, the "it's just an ollie north that you flick" thing made me land my first kickflip !! ty so much !
Wouldn’t that be a dolphin flip?
no?
Dune Burst if you do an Ollie north and flick the board you’re gonna do some sort of foward flip.
Noob
@@allieboy181 The "ollie north that you flick" tip was in relation to explaining the flick as a late flick. It has nothing to do with the rotation lmao.
Dune Burst that’s where you’re wrong asshole
"It's an ollie North with a flick", and "I''m doing them wrong but thinking right" is so spot on. Dan nailed it here. I feel we learn the kickflip based entirely around popping then just kicking, instead of leveling out THEN kicking. The former is what causes issues with kickflipping over and off stuff, I've found; there's no real technique you're just getting lucky. This helped immensely! Same age as you, Dale. Skating since 2000.
This isn't right tho. If you wait until you're leveled out to flick, it's too late. You have to flick midway into your pop/jump, through the nose, and that levels the board while it still has upward momentum.
I've been skating for 14 years now my advice is take them any way they come.
Kickflips to crooks, become mobbed flips to dyslexic Smith grinds.
100% agree. If you can pop, flip the board, land and roll away then it's good.
Yeah I actually think his regular kickflip looks better. The newer one he is doing looks like he is working harder to do it.
My mindset changes from “I need to land it” to “its so much fun” and everything just clicked for them and like damn 😯
When I used to skate with my friends I was always telling them that this is the way to get kickflips proper. Flipping off of the side may be easier to get it around fast, but it will never be as clean and consistent as flicking your toes from the top corners, more of a diagonal. Getting that back foot up and out of the way also really helps with positioning the catch and lifting the board, just like he said. I like to think of it like when you're learning the sliding your front foot forward part of an Ollie, focusing on levelling it out on your way to the flip.
no
Great tip. I hate kickflips. Switch flips and nollie flips are so much better. Hell, even fakie flips are easier.
It is because you've probably learned them more later than your regular kickflips when you was not as experienced in board control and probably learned inefficient muscle memory because of it
“Don’t practice till you get it right, practice till you can’t get it wrong”-Dominic Di Tommaso
ur complaining you cant do a good kickflip when im here that cant even do a single kickflip😂
You can practices
same lmao
damn dale we have literally the exact same kickflip 😂 thanks for posting this video because I have been trying to improve my kickflips lately as well 🙌🏻
Why is dirty dan dirty? How does he get that way? Is he ever clean?
KitchenASMR hes homeless
Government: STAY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE
He lives in his van
Ondrya Wolfson lmao try being actually homeless sometime
@Ondrya Wolfson Bullshit lmao. This comment is how I know you're one of those people who just lies whenever they're challenged, 100%.
And the guy isn't actually dirty. You just get a little sweaty and grimy when you're skating hard and falling on the ground all da. So chill the fuck out with your hateful assumptions bitch. "has no self respect" hahaha. Jesus.
8:54 the perfect "wAS THaT gUD?"
hell yeah dale, those last 2 kickflips were money.
John Hill has nice kickflips
Edit: can this be like a mini series where you start the journey here and ask a couple of skaters who you know have the trick down and try to learn your flip tricks correctly? You could do like a before and after comparison with dates and everything.

@@tamekoroheke2668 no he’s not.....
OMG this makes so much sense. thank you for this mind blowing video. Your kickflips look so much better. im going to work on mine right now. thanks again
thanks for being a genuine dude, and not being about all the typical bullshit. i appreciate your perspective and talk about insecurities, and such
This made me aware that im not doing my kickflip properly
It took me 8 years to do a kickflip, I could do blunt fakies and back disaster on quarters before I learnt these. Going to start testing this when I next skate as I always flick early... I'll report back after a session and let you know!
im sorry, 8 FUCKING YEARS. WHAT THE FUCK
@@radigund-b7fskateboarding is huge, there are so many things you can do on a board and have fun doing, that don’t involve flipping the board. They chose to invest in their transition skating, as opposed to training kickflips, it’s not that crazy.
I know exactly the struggle with that, I have rolled my front ankle a thousand times and my kickflips just don't feel right.
People tell me that they look fine and I should be happy with them but I don't care how it looks when I skate, all I care about is how it feels and when something feels sick that's the best feeling ever and that's basically what's skateboarding is about for me.
Not kidding, the thumbnail alone helped more than anything. The arrows pointing are immensely helpful when trying to improve.
I think this might be my favourite video you've made; the people you skated with, the music, the spot, the editing, it all seemed really chill and fun.
Started skating from the time I could walk. Like I was on a board as early as 3 and then I stopped a few years ago around 17. I’m 21 now getting back into it and I lost EVERYTHING besides how to ride and my Ollies. It sucks and re-learning is hell because it’s even harder now. My kickflips used to be spot on, clean and steezy every time. I’m glad I found this video. lesson to be learned here kids: DONT STOP SKATING IF YOU LOVE IT UNLESS YOU HAVE A DEVASTATING INJURY OR SOME SHIT. Seriously, I thought it would be like riding a bike coming back but it’s almost like I’m starting brand new and it almost kills your motivation.
Dale not even joking the number 1 treflip hack made me land a treflip litterally in 5 try's and this kickflip trick has helped me a shit ton to have better balance when initiating the kickflip
The banter when Dale was kickflipping was too good ahahha
7:20 it never occurred to me how fast his flick is even slowed down
I really dont know y but everytime that i lose my motivation to skate i just watch ur videos and it just makes me wanna skate so bad
that is literally the only reason I want to make videos. I have done it mom.
I learned heelflips about a year ago and I was pretty consistent with heelflips and they were pretty good too. Then I rolled my ankle and after that my heelfips became rocket and the ground catches them for me.I know what it feels like Dale.
I actually really like Dales kickflip they look so effortless
7:20 the way he said “edit that out” lmao he rips tho
im only commenting for dale to get more comments lol
8:46 when my mom sees me land a trick
ahhaha
I'm 29, been skating since 2001. Thanks for getting me hyped to get back on a board after a few years of not skating. And also.... Nails! Didn't know you liked hardcore
dale I watched this 30 mins ago got on my board and landed like 15 consecutive kickflips. ur the goat
6:43 Thats the key... Decide to make an ollie and when in the air decide not to make an ollie and flick the board.
Foot positioning is different
When I first learned kickflips a long time I felt like I had them better than I ever would, lost good ones over time but have been working on them again lately as well and for me I realized once I started skating cupsole shoes again it was a lot easier to do them correctly again. Actually, I feel like all of my flip tricks have improved. Just personal preference. Shouts to Dan for the shove manny, that was dope!
Just have fun and do the tricks you enjoy.

@@smokekey3846 fuck u
i just learned kickflips rolling a week ago and i already bone them out everytime but my flick doesnt even look that strong when i watch the videos of me doing them back it does look like an ollie that you just flick off the nose tho so that tip helped a lot
This video is great. What an awesome thing to watch this dude learn from the old way to the new way. Solid nice kickflips. I gotta try this
Dale: My kickflips aren't that good
Also Dale: Kickflips up a 3 set
15 years skating... my kicmflips are not perfect. I can be the best at the park, but normally I am on par if not under par. I can tray flip better then my kickflip lol. I can 360 Casper better then my kickflip. I broke my ankle twice, sprained 1000 times. I can't blame this kickflip issue on my injuries though. I learned wrong, I practiced wrong I mastered them wrong lol. This trick is my "White Whale"... This video confirms my suspicion, I need to go back to the drawing board. Appreciate the content dude... Skate or Die 🤟
Maybe i just don’t have an eye for tricks but every kick flip you landed made me super jealous. Skaters really are hard on themselves for sure.
Rolled away from my first one today. Here to keep watching and watching kick flips until mentally and physically it’s crispy!
put dan on slammin
Bruh. A kickflip is a kickflip.... Just be thankful you are blessed with the ability and talent to do them... most people can’t.
Landing a good kickflip is a wonderful feeling
Dude i had to put this video in my favorites because it’s basically been my life the past two years kicksflips left me high and dry 😭
The way you guys explain is just spot on. Uber helpful!
Him: complains about a perfect looking kickflip
Me: cant land on the board
I’m 13 and I have broken my ankle 5 times I know how u fell 🤘🏻🤘🏻 just keep shredding
wow thats a lot of times. Stop doing that.
Yeah but my ankles aren’t the best but I just keep skateing 😍

I love how Haley isaak is just chilling in the background
hahah
that line at the end was insane
"Swelled up to the size of a golf ball"
These tips videos are really good and someone stoked improving makes it better
This intro got me very pumped to skate. Dan is the fuckin man. Fakie 3 shuv and switch backside flip. 🔥🔥🔥
what was the music in this video so good
i learned kickflips pretty easily the basic way and they’re pretty good
Omigod it’s me
A really good kickflip is the best feeling flip trick. That and a good 360 flip Crazy how that spot looks so incredibly fun that first spot looked when anyone else wouldn't give it a second look. I mean obviously if you don't skate you aren't looking at that sort of thing but still. Aside from the flat gap, just a few long grinded sections of curbs and a Manny pad. It's the type of spot you and your buddies go to warm up and end up staying there forever
Been practicing for like 2 weeks and I finally landed one today
i’m only 19 why my knees be hurting?
Weak glutes. Not even kidding. Get into Kettlebells or resistance band training. Guarantee your knees won't hurt. Check out some Functional Patterns workouts
Chris Thvedt u know anything about feet and ankles I’m only 12 Been skating for a long time but after skating for a bit my feet and ankles get really bad
@@JackedBlack88 I think you're right bro thanks. I'm pretty skinny, and don't have big glutes and the doctor I went to told me when my hip was hurting that It was my glutes, So you're on point I just need to find time to go to the gym more for glutes.
@@gabesstarwarscollection get into MFR. Myofacial Release is big in recovery. All the greats do it. Neen Williams, Spanky, Joslin... You'll be good bro.
@@RobbieDuggs get into other sports. Try being a little more well rounded, athletic wise. Also, you're still young so if you're in pain give yourself a break, thwn get back into it.
I get your pain, its winter and when I went skating again in my garage, I couldn't even ollie so I was smashing my head to the wall.
well I mean I could ollie but not as high as I could. and not as even as I wanted.
what helps me is doing moving ollies repeatedly back to back to back( no pushing inbetween) until i come to come to a complete stop and do 3 stationary ollies. Then when i attempt my kickflips they become more boned and my backfoot catches it and the front trucks dip lower then the back trucks. Trust me this works. It builds control.
Been HEAVY into Sports lately and you just droppin' their tracks in your vids now hey? Shit's great
Dan... there is no right way to do a kickflip, that's the beauty of skateboarding
im hella late but i just started skating this year and i flick my kickflips late and they tweak but i thought there was something wrong cause it looked different than other people's. so this vid helped my confidence sm.
I personaly improved my kickflip by flicking more toward the nose of my board than on the side. So I flicked harder and tried to ninja it,
Your backfoot needs to feel the board first, so when your front foot it still in the flick position!
I cant kickflip, ive been skating for like almost 4 years 🙁
You do you bro. Took me months to learn a rolling Ollie. MONTHS.
Yo it’s crazy how people can be skating for so long and still not have a flip trick or smth I’m not trying to brag at all I swear but I learned a kickflip in like 3 months but I landed a varial flip around 1 month into skating and I didn’t even have a Ollie down good or knew how to pop shuv
Axel Martinez your kickflips were probably ugly F
@@eddievanaxel5317 Damn I just started and I can't ollie I hope it doesn't take me months to learn...
@@osoblizz7937 dude just learn at your own pace. Don't even sweat it. I was so worried that it was taking me forever but I just love skating. If it takes you 2 years, but you love every minute of it, what does it matter? Just have fun man.
Lmao dale saying is it good after every kick flip is so relatable
Best quote this channel has ever delivered: "You better aim a little lower than that buddy. You need to settle for the Pat Burke kickflip the f-ckin Slave video!" -- Chud
front foot... think ollie north and then flick.. back foot... watch your back foot throughout the process and get that back foot to go high and catch the board in the air
whats the song at the end?
Old video I know, but it should have only been 4min long. I 100% get the struggle though. I’m no where near consistent, but still want it to look good when I do them.
Yo dale I feel you...15 years of skateboarding and for some reason my kickflips have broken it off with me and I can’t get them back
Diggin that Thomas the train music at the end! Shit had me damn near dead
This legit helps me because my kickflips are all in the mindset of the flick. I needed this because I know how to but the flick is just wrong
for a lot of you learning kickflips one thing that i have to say is wait till you hear the pop and then flick afterwards
Same with me, I stopped doing kick flips when I rolled my ankle because I wasn’t able to flick or it would hurt. Now I need to get them back
I like the ollie North tip. I recently relearned ollies this way accidentally, by trying to learn ollie north.
want a good kickflip, do it everywhere, up down set of stairs, over trash cans, all set of wheelings, as soon as your kickflip becomes as easy as an Ollie, your kickflip is legit
agree
It’s like an Ollie north that you flick sounds like proper advice to receive a board to the taint.
There are these quick little Ollie’s that you do when you have to get up something last second( where you pop and get your front toes stuck around the front bolts) my kickflips are the best when I can do that befor the flick.
That also works for me
Late kickflips are the best. Nice and level, nice straight down flick. they looks so tight.
Still trying to relearn kickflips with the delayed flick with the Corrigan method, so hard to nail down the timing. Popping high and delaying the flick just ends up in half-flips every single time UNLESS I apply the trick of imagining an invisible "flip" button right in front and below the nose, which controls my flick and makes it faster.
every time dale uploads i become g a y e r f o r h i m
I understand the pain tho. I've been skating for a good 17 years now, and I must say I can switch flip better than I could ever do a regular kickflip. Also I have never been able to frontside flip or tre flip and its the most irritating thing ever.
i've known how to kickflip for 4 years yet they've always looked gross and i never could figure out how to do one that didn't look totally disgusting,, but this actually makes sense compared to all those other vids out there
I know right! Once I learned this my kickflip started look and feel so much better
If I'm trying to go over something or just going crazy, I go off the noise for more height. Like you're dude Dan said "physics". You can pop harder an get higher. Dan's ninja-flips are SIC, like a Ollie North. Now when I go off the side it's a defensive side of skate, flat or a lucky ass line. Take this with a grain of salt, my old ass is mostly not landing anything but ollies.
Mine for some reason don’t get popped, I hit the tail on the ground but it’s only a couple inches high, I can ollie almost a foot or 2 high
Dale, you’re insane, you have like.. your kickflips are fine.. you’re good
Hopefully Haley was paying attention to the kickflip class as she's also proclaimed terrible kickflips
DALE, tell me now what board I should get/company I should check out. I currently like Toy Machine, enjoy a mellow concave, and would like to perfect my fliptricks before I move on to more street stuff.
And I’m back to this video. :) so sick man. I’m one I’m that 99%. Just watching this makes me feel better. Lol
That's what happened to me too, I rolled my ankle severely. That was a 2 month heal ordeal. And my ankle hasn't been the same since.
