When you mentioned that Churchill authorized the bombing of a German city before the Nazis bombed british civilians, you did not mention that, before this bombing, Hitler directed the Luftwaffe to bomb a dutch city, after the Netherlands announced their surrender, because it was perceived to be too slow for the Nazis. Since this action was a violation of Germany's announcement, along with Britain and France, not to bomb civilians, Churchill changed Britain's war strategy. Why didn't you mention this important fact?

    • @Chean-fo9ru
      @Chean-fo9ru 9 місяців тому +22

Well, the fact is that Germany bombed Rotterdam on May, threatening with leveling Utrecht next; that's when the Netherlands surrendered. The bombings of civilian targets both in Germany and England only started in August. Now, I found conflicting recounts about who bombed who first, so I wouldn't stick my neck out over that one.

He also totally ignored the facts that at the end of the battle of Britain the nazis switched from targeting RAF bases and focused on London and other civilian centres. It was that action that allowed the RAF enough respite to recover slightly and win the day.

Our uncle served in Palestine after WW2. He said they were not terrified of the arabs but of the terrorists on the other side. The murder of British squaddies and then the booby trapping of their bodies to inflict maximum mayhem and murder had something to do with this but also generally having potshots taken at them constantly. They came out of WW2 having fought Nazism and were exhausted. Why on earth are those squaddies and the ones killed at the King David hotel not commemorated each year on Remembrance Sunday? Considering Britain's betrayal of the Jews in British created Palestine, who had just seen millions of their own people exterminated in Europe, I'd be a little afraid of the Jews too. There is just so much Jew hate the Jews are going to put up with from antisemitic ingrates. As for the title of this little video screed, no one really used the expression, "the Palestinians and the Jews" during the Mandate, because "Palestinian" was a "national" category invented by Britain, and not really accepted by the Arabs of that time, but embraced by the Jews of the mandate. And of course before the British creation of Palestine, no people ever called itself the "Palestinians". BTW, with all due respect to your dead uncle, the Arabs had committed plenty of violence against the Jews, not just during the mandate but long before, even there in the land of the Jews, i.e., the Land of Israel, as its true indigenous people called it long before the European empire known as Rome imposed the name of another people of European derivation, the Philistines, on the land of the Jews. And as for the use of "Palestinians" to describe the Arabs of Palestine in this video? That's an alleged people was actually invented in the 1960s by the Soviets and the Egyptian, Yasser Arafat.

One interesting fact for you Paul: Marmaduke Pickthall, the famous British writer, translator and Muslim convert who was born in 1875 was a "classmate and friend" of Winston Churchill at Harrow School, the prestigious boarding school in England. They both shared a similar "social" status as members of the "upper class", however, they had very different views on politics, religion and culture. Pickthall, being a devout Muslim, was a sympathizer of the Ottoman Empire and also the Indian independence movement (Did Tariq Ali mention this?), while Churchill was a staunch imperialist and colonialist.

Not really, when history is controlled by the ruling class, not much history gets out.
Consequentially, when that true history becomes known, it's not judging by a standard that did not exist before .
It's simply allowing the truth to be known, and speak for itself.
You can't judge what was unreported or unknown.
That's sort of like judging Leopold who slaughter millions by 21st century standards.
It's not, the same moral standard existed when he did it. Those of the latter centuries just didn't know it. When they found out, they simply let it be known.
That's what happened in the USAMERICA when folks started using the net to research some of those confederate statues. They found out the inscriptions beneath the statues were entire false.
BTW, I'm not in favor of removing these monuments, as long as you prints some of the real truths beneath them.

This analysis of the treatment of the Jews in the Muslim world would have benefited greatly from even a superficial research effort which would demonstrate that antisemitism is by no means a uniquely Christian phenomenon. In different time periods the treatment of Jews has varied significantly the world over. Accordingly, there are numerous cases of antisemitism under Muslim rule, such as the 1066 Grenada massacre and in the 1656 Jewish expulsion from Isfahan (along with many other waves of expulsions and forced conversions). All of this is not to mention that - even though the majority of Jew hatred once came from a Christian populous - the countries that hold the most antisemitic views in the world today are more often than not Muslim majority countries. We could determine this by using a number of different metrics but as we've mentioned expulsions already let's start there. The most recent expulsions of Jewish populations have been from countries such as Yemen, Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, Algeria, Libya, and Lebanon. In total nearly a million Jews were expelled from or fled from Islamic countries in the 1940s and the 1950s. In many cases these communities had established traditions in these countries, going back hundreds or even thousands of years (there is archaeological evidence of Jews living in Baghdad as far back as the early sixth century BCE). This may help explain why the current Jewish population in Israel is majority Mizrachi or Sephardi ('Non-white' Jews who lived in the Middle East and North Africa). Although of course there are also sizable 'white' population in Israel, but many of them are the descendants of holocaust survivors so the theory that they are 'privileged' could also do with a swift rejection of that particular null hypothesis.
As to your take on Churchill, it is too great of an undertaking to contextualize each of the misleading statements you put forth so I will just say a couple things. First, the trouble at understanding why Churchill referred to the 'Jewish race' and not to the 'English race' as the 'best race' may be understood as an homage to the indebtedness he felt the British owed to the moral and technical contributions that Jews and Judaism had made and that we only feel uneasy with his language because he was using terms that did not yet have the negative connotation they hold for us modern viewers today. If we judge people of the past by modern standards we generally find them lacking because we are not in the same context they were in, we rarely have taken the time to learn about that context, and we (hopefully) have developed morally in the meantime, at least in certain respects. Second, I think that a lot of the examples of 'racism' that were brought up could be far better understood through the lens of paternalism rather than race hatred. He certainly believed that there were different levels of technological and civilization development, but I would suggest that scientific and developmental indices agree.

Thanks to Churchill we won the war against the nazis. Germans could have surrender early, but they didn't, and the bombing seems to have been necessary. Similarly, after Hamas horrific attack on jews, it was predictable that Israeli will attempt to demolish the military headquarters of Hamas, and warn them in advance so that the civilians could flee, but Hamas made this impossible, and is entirely responsible of the death of the Palestinians, which they simply called "martyr", like in their chart they consider women as martyrs factory. We, europeans and Americans, have to stand up for all democracies when attacked by autocracies, even more so when they have inherited nazism. The chart of Hamas is even worse than "Mein Kampf", if that is possible, as they want to destroy all Christians, and to obliterate the women's right. This video contains many truth, but seems to abstract them from the context, and lack much comparisons with the enemy of the time, and today's.

Following the game plan laid out at the British 1st Imperial Press Conference of 1909, and representing Rothschild interests, J.P Morgan proxies purchased the top 25 most influential publications in the United States in 1915. They then used their editorial control to drive U.S. public opinion into the First World War on the side of the Allied Powers. As a reward, the British cabinet approved the Balfour Declaration promising Baron Rothschild it would endeavor to create a homeland for Jews in Palestine.
Now, jump forward to the 1950’s, when the CIA used Operation Mockingbird to penetrate U.S. media, as well as various USG, state, and even certain metropolitan agencies.
Today, nearly all U.S. legacy media is controlled by just five conglomerates, all of which are ultimately controlled by the Deep State, which came to power behind the scenes via JFK's assassination in 1963. That is why the JFK assassination is regarded as the Third Rail in American Journalism. The Democratic Party has become its political wing, and the MSM is now little more than its propaganda arm.

I am a serious student of Churchill….not only was he a deep humanitarian but also a founder of the modern welfare state. When he became Prime Minister, in May 1940, he stood alone, not only against the Nazi threat, at a time when Europe was collapsing (the US did not come into the war until December 1941) but also within his own class who wanted to parley with Hitler. Our situation was nothing short of desperate.
In case this is not enough to assuage his critics, they should have a look at the eulogies following his death in 1965. They could not be more laudatory and were highly moving. I’m going to quote an extract from Attlee’s tribute. He was Churchill’s deputy in the Coalition Government during the Second World War as well as his great political rival, Churchill losing to him in the 1945 General Election “.......I do not think everybody always recognised how tender- hearted he was. I can recall him with the tears rolling down his cheeks, talking of the horrible things perpetrated by the Nazis in Germany. I can recall, too, during the war his emotion on seeing a simple little English home wrecked by a bomb. Yes, my Lords, sympathy-and more than that: he went back, and immediately devised the War Damage Act. How characteristic! Sympathy did not stop with emotion; it turned into action......... Then I recall the long days through the war-the long days and long nights-in which his spirit never failed; and how often he lightened our labours by that vivid humour, those wonderful remarks he would make which absolutely dissolved us all in laughter, however tired we were......and I recall, too, as the most reverend Primate has said already, that when once the enemy were beaten he had full sympathy for them. He showed that after the Boer War, and he showed it again after the First World War. He had sympathy, an incredibly wide sympathy, for ordinary people all over the world.....He saw himself there as an instrument. As an instrument for what? For freedom, for human life against tyranny. None of us can ever forget how, through all those long years, he now and again spoke exactly the phrase that crystallised the feelings of the nation. My Lords, we have lost the greatest Englishman of our time-I think the greatest citizen of the world of our time. In the course of a long, long life, he has played many parts. We may all be proud to have lived with him and, above all, to have worked with him.....”
There are too many examples of the perpetuation of time-honoured myths (often the fault of “copy and paste” writers masquerading as historians), built on the very shaky foundations of ignorance and prejudice and calculated to denigrate the Churchill legacy. It is high time that these myths are laid to rest. Detractors - please note.
If anybody should be “judge and jury” of Churchill, it should be Attlee, the much-respected, long-serving Labour leader and Prime Minister (1945/51), who got to know Churchill so well during the war years.
Churchill was a colossus in standing up, almost alone, to tyranny, he should therefore be judged a giant no matter what the age. It should always be remembered, though, that his greatness was combined with him being a deep humanitarian - that is why he was (and still is) respected and loved by so many and why I am a crusader in upholding his legacy.

First, do you know what imperialism is? Because either you don’t, or you’re inconsiderate of how others would feel. It’s not you or the government who gets to decide whether a nation likes its colonizers or not, it’s them. The incredibly vast majority of opinions in every nation Britain has occupied and stolen resources from didn’t want the Brits in their land, and your justification is advancement?? People from different continents and cultures have their own unique way of civilization, and they are happy with it. Why would you ‘drag them forward’ into cities and cars, thinking that your way of civilization should be forced on people without their consent? That would be the case if they actually pushed these nations forward, but they didn’t. Egypt was already advanced with cities and trains and everything, so why did the Brits colonize it? So it’s not advancement after all? It’s purely for advantage and interest at the expense of others, including the lives of women and children that they didn’t care about because they weren’t white enough. I can clearly see now why Britain has the most horrible, dishonorable, unjustified, and barbaric history of all time, because Churchill was in office after an election by voters carrying uncivilized, supremacist, and superficial opinions, like justifying imperialism, which means extending your borders through colonization and military force to feed your home country, a parasitic behavior. And what exactly didn't have relevance in 21 centuries, is the Palestinian-lsraeli conflict an example of that? A huge ongoing conflict because imperialist Britain decided who to live in the middle east and how others should deal with it? And as the whole conflict is still on going pretty much, you still believe that Britain isn't complicit? Completely sick

Its always worth noting that early to mid 20th century Britain was, across all society, racist but not in a violent way more of white Britains are superior sort of way. It was normal. Now things are different.

and white European Jewish Zionists to conspire to steal the land of Palestinians
and drive them into prison camps and into exile so that white European Jewish Zionists
can occupy that Palestinian land thus letting white European Christians
and white European Jewish people no longer have to deal with each other.
When you think that believing that non-white people deserve basic rights

      and religious extremism.

Israel is mostly composed of Jews from Arabic countries who were ethnically cleansed (kicked out) of Arab countries in 1947. It is undeniable that Muslim countries who ethnically cleansed their Jews are now ethnically cleansing their Christian populations even as Muslims migrate to traditionally non-Muslim countries in the west. Israel is mostly composed of Jews from Arabic countries and also has a 20% Arabic population as well as a minority of European Jews. Israel has a long history of being a Judean country - the word "Jew" comes from Judean. Many European Jews, who were persecuted for centuries for being Judeans went back to Judea after the holocaust. Dig anywhere in Israel and you will find archeological remnants of Jewish history. And why do Muslims feel that they have a right to create a large and vocal presence in the west but there can't be a single, tiny, country in the middle east that is not Muslim even when that country affords equal rights (not second class citizenship and special taxes) to its Arab citizens?

It was never formally recognized by the British and was dissolved in 1934. However, the platform of the Haifa congress, which set out the position that Palestine was an autonomous Arab entity and totally rejected any rights of the Jews to Palestine, remained the basic policy of the Palestinian Arabs until 1948." seems like arabs wasted decades trying to keep jews out of the region rather than build a functioning government.

In all likelihood Spain was distinct in being the only part of Western Europe conquered into dar al Islam. The Ummayad Caliphate would have had a vested interest in presenting a more tolerant policy there that was different from other areas and probably uncharacteristic when it came to their treatment of the dhimmi minorities given the fact that all Spaniards were ahl al kitab rather than kafirs. 2) in 1882, there were 200,000 people living in the whole of Palestine, not 700,000. In 1948, there were almost 1.3 million Arabs. This is not due to a crazy birth rate but to vast labor immigration from neighboring countries, because of the development of the land by the Jews and the British, creating a lot of job opportunities.

Malaria was originally a large obstacle to Zionist settlement, because it restricted the land that was usable for settlement, and affected the lifestyle of the Jewish settlers in Palestine.

    Muslim world
The practice of wearing special clothing or markings to distinguish Jews and other non-Muslims (dhimmis) in Muslim-dominated countries seems to have been introduced in the Umayyad Caliphate by Caliph Umar II in the early 8th century. The practice was revived and reinforced by the Abbasid caliph al-Mutawakkil (847-861), subsequently remaining in force for centuries.[2][3] A genizah document from 1121 gives the following description of decrees issued in Baghdad:
Two yellow badges [are to be displayed], one on the headgear and one on the neck. Furthermore, each Jew must hang round his neck a piece of lead weighing [3 grammes] with the word dhimmi on it. He also has to wear a belt round his waist. The women have to wear one red and one black shoe and have a small bell on their necks or shoes.[4]

@@andycallaghan5975 , the name of Palestine goes back to biblical times. The Arabs only colonized the region in the 7th c. CE. Since then, the name of Palestine applied to regional borders that changed over time, and never to any specific people inhabiting the region. As late as the 1920's, some Arabs wanted to call the region Southern Syria.
Since Arab conquest and colonization there never was a single ethnic group living there, nor was any particular group known as Palestinians.
Churchill could never have spoken of a Palestinian people. He would speak, as everybody else, of Palestinian Arabs, Jews, Christians, Druzes, Samaritans, Turks, Greeks, etc.
OLP = PLO, being used to both acronyms in various languages.
Regarding Germany and Germans, if we go back to Roman Germania, it referred to lands inhabited by many different Germanic tribes. They were not Germans but spoke various Germanic languages, same way we are discussing now in a Germanic language (English) without being Germans. The German people(s) and nation(s) slowly started to develop and set during the Middle Ages, before any clear national identity. Ask Austrians whether they are Germans and you would obtain different answers even as the Anschluss was taking place. Ask the German speaking Swiss or Alsacians: they will obviously deny being Germans. You simply cannot call Germans all the German speaking peoples, much less everybody living within your imaginary German region.
Germanic tribes swept all of western Europe and even northern Africa. According to your logic, we should extend the Roman notion of Germania to all of Europe and northern Africa, regard all as "Germans", and ask anybody unhappy about that to please stop being a racist colonizer and please go home, somewhere else.

    1. Winston Churchill was the first vice-president of the racist and elitist Eugenics Education Society, founded by Charles Darwin's cousin Francis Galton and son Major Leonard Darwin.
    2. The eugenics doctrines had profound influence on the treatment of dark-skinned people and indigenous people in all the British colonies.

Even under the ottoman empire where damascus directly managed by the turcs, Mount Lebanon had its autonomy inside the empire and maronite patriarch at its head. But the reason i detest him the most is that he finds compelled to dismember, (so to speak) the leader of a nation that educated him, and choose to reside in, for his intellectual self gratification, when all he stated as facts can be reasonably challenged. I haven't read the book , but thank you for the presentation . I'm sure that you do , in some detail examine the root connection between the Jewish people and the lands of Judea and Galilee at least , and explain that the nation of Israel is possibly the oldest in the world , it's people's suffering almost complete obliteration after the Ben Kokhba revolt begun against Roman occupation in 132 Ad . The resultant depopulation didn't lead to a cultural or religious loss of identification with the ' chosen land ' . This perhaps is a point often missed by commentators regarding the current suffering of so many people , Palestinian, and Israeli today and recently .

Your understanding of this history is super messed up. Israel is only 75 years old. It is one of the newest nations. It was settled by Europeans. The people who had been living on that land were displaced. Prior to and during the European settlers turning up, starting from the about the turn of the 20th century, the land was controlled by Ottoman and then Britain.
There isn't much else to it. Whether the European settlers used to live there or not (thousands of years ago) would be impossible to substantiate. The people who had already been living there may have been, for a very long time, but that's also effectively impossible to prove.
Records don't go back that far, and there is no way to know if they were fabricated.
