  • Hello and welcome to Let's Play Europa Universalis III Divine Wind with your host, Shenryyr! I am Irish but apparently cannot find Cork on a map. You'll have to forgive my horrible geography here.
    In any case, this campaign begins with our Kingdom's humble beginnings as a lesser state in the poorest part of Europe. The first goal is to form Ireland, by conquering the neighboring small Irish states. For some reason the AI does not do much diplomacy with them- Brittany sometimes guarantees the independence of one or two, but beyond that Europe just leaves them alone. This makes them easy pickings!
    England gets in over their head by going to war with France, Burgundy, and Scotland all at the same time, and we take this opportunity to invade. When all is said and done, we capture the final piece to form Ireland, and even some of Britain itself.

    EU3 was a gem of a thing. Proto-avaricious stage in PI's development although the unit packs were starting to creep in, but at a sensible-ish price. The superior soundtrack was worth the Collectors' Ed alone.

    Good stuff. You know you can edit it so that all of the the events that don't concern your country don't pop up. I find it speeds the game up and you dont have to be irritated by a bunch of non consequential popups. I find it makes the game much more enjoyable to do that and utilize all of the Mapmodes for information. I tend to use the Diplomatic Mapmode most frequently.

    All of the Paradox GSGs are pretty similar in gameplay, with some different focuses. The Victoria series focuses on economic development and industrialization, the Crusader Kings series focuses on dynasty management and politics (and spreading your seed), and the Hearts of Iron series goes really in depth into warfare (just go with the latest of each series. 2, 2, 3 respectively).
    CK2 is really good for beginners to Grand Strategy games, as is EU3.

    Nicely done. Played the oppertunist, got a few lucky breaks. A few tips though. I wouldn't worry about losing money in december, only if you lose it the next year. Also, when declaring war you can call your allies individually, thus you would not lose your alliance with portugal. Finally, when moving across the sea, you could have just docked your ship in the english ports that Scotland occupied. Your troops would land at the province. This is if you secured military access from Scotland.

    HOI2 and EU3 Divine wind are my two most favorite strategy games. HOI2 is amazing when wanting a game that almost purely focuses on war and research. loved it
    EU3 gives you more options. for one, you dont really have that much choice which military units you have, BUT in terms of diplomacy, discovering and ways of playing, it can be more fun. HOI2 has everytime (almost) the same big nations. in EU3 its guranteed to be a different experience EVERYTIME. just saw a huge croatia for the first time

  • @SpiritGuy88
    @SpiritGuy88 11 років тому

    Alliance is less likely and means you have to in wars or they will hate you and also get a casus beli if you dishonor their call. Plus I believe that you can only get 2 or 3 alliances with countries that aren't your vassal. As for the %, the top right corner has an icon there. Click it and it shows you a bunch of statistics (how many days until building/recruiting is done,your armies,etc.)one of these is the siege progression. Basically gives you an idea how soon the city will surrender,I think

    I united Ireland in a game once, but didn't last long. Claiming meath happened by sheer dumb luck; connaucht nationalists retreated from my army into Meath, and england was busy fighting France and Castille. It became Connaucht, and I instantly declared war to annex. If I had planned that, it would have been brilliant.

    When France gets in war with England and then Scotland gets in war to after some time they get a message "Highlanders are here" which means you get 12 regiments in Highland. I was playing as Scotland and conquer Orkney first then I went in war with England and I got 2 those messages one for Orkney and one for Highlands. It always happens when you are in long war. That is the reason why they are so powerful. I think that is a good event.

    i've put thumbs up on several episodes
    Also i'm trying to adjust the quality of my videos to your standarts
    which are pretty good. I started a french campaign, but i'm having trouble
    uniting the movie files into 1 hour chunks like you do. The upload time is

    I wonder, when you're crossing to England, is it worth putting a ship in one of the sea areas and then your main cogs in the next sea area and use those for the crossing... so that when England's fleet attacks you it has to go through a war with the first ship before it can get to your main crossing fleet? I hope that makes sense.
    Another thing, I found that docking fleets with troops into the port instantly offloads all troops and that seems to be quicker than having the troops walk to the land from the ship. I think.
    My status - I have played this as Sicily and I think I am in year 1506, something like that. I didn't know a lot of things because the documentation for this game is almost non-existent. For anyone new to the game I strongly recommend using your first game as a tester. Save, try something, play on full speed, see how it works, then resign and reload. The point is to test the game mechanics as quickly as possible without having to spend hundreds of hours guessing.

    Don't worry, I stumbled around for quite a while before getting the hang of this game. My best suggestion would be to look up a few basic tutorials (whether video or other format) and then just try playing one of the easier nations such as England, Spain, or France.
    If you fail, just keep trying. Also, watching a few LP's by more experienced players can teach you new tricks and strategies that you can try out for yourself.

    There are circumstances in where you need certain things for an easy take over of another country. Rarely does invading your neighbours mean the easiest way to becoming more powerful, but sometimes you can get lucky. Prey on weak countries, countries already at war with large nations, and act like a vulture. Give the game patience, but I know it can be extremely frustrating. Some of it can appear to be outright bullshit, but this game can be very enjoyable

      @mastercaster02 9 років тому +2

      Louis Roberts actually Irish IS a nationality. Nothing about Irish people is an ethnicity. Caucasian is an ethnicity, so annoying when Irish people say they're Irish rather than that they are Caucasian from the Irish island. How can you say that Irish is an ethnicity, but then say Americans can't "be Irish?" Ethnicity is your actual genetics, nationality is where you are born. And no, Americans who have ancestors from Ireland are not Irish-American, at all. They are not American is terms of ethnicity because their ancestors are not from America, as in they are not Native Americans. Before you call people out, get your shit together.
